Jay does come across friendlier and easier to speak to...and I get his humor. Even his insults/remarks are made for the sake of a humorous banter, not from malice or anything really personal. This comes from the days of being a stand-up comedian.
You can see when he may go too far, because he sees it too and tries to apologize for it.

and Letterman is so arrogant that many guests dont want to come on his show. But Leno, even those he makes fun of likes him...because he has a good heart.

Agree with your post...I usually turn off Dave when Paul appears. The best (arguably, only) thing Dave has "these days" is being in NY.

Used to be a Letterman fan,but Jay has it going on these days.Paul the bandleader gives me the eebie-jeebies-he reminds me of Nosferatu-I am a HUGE Will Lee fan,though.It is East Coast vs. West Coast-I would prefer to see Conan in Dave's slot-Dave's money makes his jaded shtick seem too jaded for my taste.
