Yee-haw! The Clydesdale on The Strip
The past week has brought the NFR frenzy to Vegas. On Saturday I hit Cleopatra's Barge in Ceasars Palace to witness the eight second glory of a Clydesdale show – wait, bull rides are eight seconds.
Actually, The Clydesdale performed mammoth shows – 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. or so for four nights.
The scene was curious – the creaky gang-plank walkways-over-water of the Barge, a few working ladies scoping the scene in hopes of lassoing a wayward cowboy, normal rodeo crowds listening to the cow-punk Western dirge rock romantica of the Clydesdale.
A few line-dancers busted moves on the floor, but not for long sans hordes of mirror-image cadres kicking their boots in ordered ranks.
I asked a partying music club owner from Austin, Texas, if the Clydesdale would do well in his venue.
“Too fast,” he said.
As in the Clydesdale's spooky but energetic Western songs are not slow and dancey enough for the country music crowds.
Austin, I thought? One of America's great music cities? No room for the Clydesdale?
“What about the Old 97's?” I asked, seeking for alternative/indie corollaries to the Clydesdale to prove roots music sells a bit. [Yes. I know the Old 97's are/were from Dallas.]
Never heard of 'em.
Well, I think the Clydesdale is Vegas' best band, and should be signed. Hello Merge, others?
The band would fill the truly good clubs in Texas, L.A., NYC and beyond.
Ride on, Clydesdale. Line dancing is not cool.
Check out video scenes from the Clydesdale's Saturday show.

The Clydesdale Band ...(Lyrics)...Sheri's...
A women in her right mind knows when to call it a night
And if I left, I'd never caught the sight
Of a tall shadowed man justa walkin my way
And when he walked on by I just had to stay
He offered me a drink and I politely refused
I got the feeling it was me he came to pursue
With his slicked back hair and his dark denim jeans
When he kissed me my old heart just split at the seams
Well I talk and you drink and I tell you what I think
I ain't going home with you
Well you tell me that's alright, can you stay a little longer tonight
So that's exactly what we do
Why not wait up for the sun for another hour or two
You tell me I've got some patients and I slip on a smile
For a Man like you I can wait quite a while
You tell me we'll just lay on top of the sheets
I told you I wouldn't go I wouldn't get any sleep
You tell me some day Baby I'm gonna make you my old lady
Tonight Can we go to my place
Every bone every limb it was yearning for him
I couldn't even look him in the face
My blood was a pumping and my heart started to race..
Get whoever made that video snatch to do a complete one. He has more skill than the other ones I have seen... No need to dwell so long on the "hyper frambing" right hands, though... Body shots at a little distance.. face shots close up...
Those kids are good enough to deserve better CDs..
ROCK THE BOAT
Dec 6-9,
10:30 p.m. - 3 a.m.
(COUNTRY)
The Clydesdale -- Las Vegas' best alt.country band -- have corraled themselves a gig at Caesars Palace, and the resort's legendary floating lounge, Cleopatra's Barge, will never be the same. Booked as a complement to the annual National Finals Rodeo (in town through Dec. 15), the tight and talented group -- accustomed to playing Downtown dive bars -- might very well use this high-profile gig to launch into the big time. From Vegas native Paige Overton's Patsy Cline-style voice to the band's ferocious playing skills, the Clydesdale are the closest remaining thing to classic cowtown Vegas. See them now, and don't say we didn't tell you.

Trying to control Kids is like trying to control the tide...and yall ain't got any tide in Nevada...
But they are doing well.. but they do NEED some professional CDs made... and get played a lot on the AM/FM.. as well as loaded up on the doo-hickeys that young folk tote about with them........ You can tell-em I said so!!! LOL!!
"My booth was right next to the stage so I got to hear local band Clydesdale play (I've had their cd, but haven't gone out to see them live before last Friday). They played two sets and put on a fantastic show. Their sound is kind of in the country and western vein (and not that pop country crap they play on most radio stations) with a rock edge and sultry vocals by Paige Overton. Check out: www.myspace.com/theclydesdale for upcoming local shows updates and to listen to some of their songs."

Crow...LOL they have..They have "Packed" the Lounge everynight..the people have stayed between the 1/2 hour breaks to wait for them...she gave up the chance to sing our National Anthem..for the big fight Mayweather and ?? ( I'm not into fights) that is televised live on ESPN....
KIDS Whatcha going to do with them...LOL...
Go for the BIGGGG TIMEE...CHILLUN!!!!!!!!!!
Caesars Palace has given a big break to The Clydesdale, a local band on the brink of a breakout. The punky country group has been booked to play at Cleopatra's Barge through Sunday. The show is from 10:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. daily. "This definitely takes us to another level," said Paige Overton, the beehive-coiffed lead singer. There's no cover charge. ...

Bueno
11 Do it some more!!
Crow we just came in from the Wedding..It was in Virginia City Nevada...Where Bonanza was located ..It was at a Dude Ranch and held outside.. everyone wore cowduds..It was very cold up there and the kids fingers were so cold and numb that they couldn't even feel them...The connection was a very good one though ..they are going to be interviewed at the Berkely radio Station I think in November and then they will be playing down the way .. set up by a well known DJ named Tumbleweed...He seems to have the connections...
Some of the guests had instruments with them to jam after the wedding was over.. but it was to coooollllld burrrrrr...
But.... guess who tumbleweed hung with after the wedding when the kids went to bed...how bout the MOMS...LOL he couldn't get over the fact that we went along with them..anyway he sat next to me and somewhat grilled me a little...he thinks the sound is original and Paige is flawless..he's to old and he knows it..LOL anyway he danced with me a little...he kept on saying we were like the partridge family and I kept saying...ahhhh...NO
anyway... we tore that town up...
Ah, Michelle!! Make them Boys and Gals get busy and do some PROFESSIONAL albums!! Times a wasting...
Hint..Vocalizations are supposed to be louder than the background music. Which is why the singer often seems to be about to eat the microphone.
Also why you need a professional running the Volume control bank.
That daughter of yours sure knows how to framb hell outa a gittar.. I don't think that I have ever seen the like. That right hand and arm swinging away.. In truth, I am overly deaf to catch most of her lyrics. I did catch Jolene because it is a song that I know.
Keep it going, and get in the big time.
Crow..you are the only one that got that dvd..I forgot to have it signed..I will (but don't hold your breath)lol..get them to sign another slip and then I will send it to you..but then you never know when I will get around to it...but I will get around to it..smirk maybe around Halloween time..I am going to the Show..
My Salon is going to dress up like angels and devils...we have the self proclaimed angels on one side...and of course it's not the side I'm on... I'm on the Devils.. The bad girls side the side that always looks like a trainwreck...lol all I can say is why me???..now that is today ..I'm sure around Halloween we will all break down and get into our own originals..
Anyway back to the Clydesdales....
They were just played this last Saturday on a Radio Station KLAX out of Berkeley .. I believe they played Wanted Man and also they played Pleasure..
I really think this Wedding is going to let them get upfront and personal with some big folks..They asked her to bring lots of CD's .. They were going to distribute them thru out California..
Still no Manager....Paige is it.
She has help from a Lawyer friend who is really not in the Music Business but has a lot of influence over the ARts Councel...Music Festivals and such here..
Paige is a very smart and savvy Young Lady..
Yep, quite impressive!! Great talent..
They do need a professional video done for sale. I don't know how much it would cost, but they are already famous enough in Vegas + other areas out there that it would sell.
Might lead to an engagement at one or more of the larger casinos.

THE CLYDESDALE
Saturday, September 29, 2007
Saturday, 2:30PM - 4:00PM
Village Oasis, Cashman Center
We are sure you have never seen a band like The Clydesdale.
The Clydesdale is a four piece outfit. Chalk full of character with an extra helping of sass. Courtney Carroll, the percussionist has been known to make grown men cry and drop to their knees. Jason Aragon is the bass player and adds so much style and pizzazz to their quartet. Andrew Karasa plays a mean lick on the guitar (which he built himself). Paige Overton, the only thing more glittering than Las Vegas itself. Paige sings mighty nice and plays the rythmn guitar which she says is not so much spectacular as it is necessary to the sound.
Wondering how original this quartet will be? This is how they describe their sound - "Johnny Cash on speed; Loretta Lynne and Nancy Sinatra on Celebrity Death Match, and a drunk cat walking on a piano."
They've been influenced by: Old country, cowboys, punk rock, the night sky, indie rock, guns, horses, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, broken hearts, big ol' hair, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, slide guitar, The Vandals, The Smiths, Patsy Cline, Modest Mouse, Dolly Parton, Nancy Sinatra, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin, tight jeans, cowboy boots, fancy dresses....
Trust us - you don't want to miss this one!

Local Music Reviews
Some one sent us these
The Clydesdale
Horse Feathers (self-released)
It's hard to peg The Clydesdale with the usual alt-country tag because, well, for one, what the hell does that even mean any more?
But, more important, its music sounds more like real country than whatever Nashville's Music Row is (over)producing these days. Its latest recording, seemingly a half-new/half-live appeaser until the next full-length, is a true embodiment of classic country & western music, from its galloping tempos to its unvarnished, rustic compositions (though not without flecks of rockabilly and punk).
Sometimes, it's the imagery evoked in the music alone that legitimizes its throwback feel, from the rollicking "Country Girlfriend," with its subtle twang and subtler cowbell, to the sashaying-then-stomping "Pins in Plates," the latter sung by the brassy yet dignified Paige Overton.
In fact, Horse Feathers is a great example of how natural -- and naturally pedigreed -- a band can sound when it's not so self-conscious or trying too hard.

SOUNDING OFF: Clydesdale leads disc roundup
JASON BRACELIN
MORE COLUMNS
Deadly cowgirls and surly hard-core dudes lead the way in this month's roundup of local discs:
THE CLYDESDALE, "Horse Feathers" (myspace.com/theclydesdale): Breaking up is hard to do, especially for Clydesdale singer Paige Overton, because it means there's a fresh body to dispose of.
"What once was love is now fertilizer," she growls on "Dale Toro," bidding adieu to a former flame with a shovelful of topsoil.
An album of wide open spaces and sweet revenge, the Clydesdale's latest reads like a Louis L'Amour paperback penned in blood and bourbon. It spans hard-eyed honky-tonk awash in reverbed guitar, plaintively sung paeans to country women and spare, steamy come-ons hotter than a smokin' gun barrel. It's some compelling stuff -- unless, of course, you happen to be one of Overton's ex's.

This is the scoop...The Clydesdale will be performing a special wedding for a very Well Known Artist that is part of an orgaization called the ACCI out of Berkeley..
They are to sing their Covers first but the Bride and Groom gave them a few of their own..like cheezy 80's love songs from bands like Cheep Trick's "I want you to want me"..lol..and some Beatles toons.....Plus they will play some of their own Covers like Johnny Cash's Folsum Prison Blues and Dolly Parton's Jolene..((what did you think of that song? (just remembered it was on the dvd)..))
Then it's down to the Wedding Dinner...after all of Wedding formalities are over..
I guess the Clydesdale will then perform their Own Originals...
After that..
They have been asked to stay and jam with some of the well known Musicians and Artists that are invited to this Wedding..
One of these Musicians is a man called Keb MO..google his suitcase music collection..He sings Mississippi Delta Blues..he toured with U2 in Europe and has opened up for Bonnie Rhett..Paige sings Fever like no other...of course!!
I said Paige...
"How does it feel that you are the Entertainment for all of the Entertainment???" ...lol
...... "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh MOM" ...
whell ya know I am going..she needs a mile high beehive for this show...along with Jay the bassist's Mom..she will take the pictures..lol...
Paige don't know how she is going to break the...
"We have a couple RoadieMoms with us..Can they come??"...lol..
crow.. What did you think of the cover.."You belong to me"?
I believe that cd has three different shows sometimes it was hard for me to get to the beginning...but of course you are a better computer meister than myself..so you probably saw all of them..lol
Damn good show!! Dinna hide ye light under a bushel!!
I know, most Kids prefer My Space.. but some more ancient comes here to look for news of the future bedazzlers of the NATION!!
So yall keep on telling about stuff here!!
MY Space is fraught with peril for those of us that are on some hit lists for Worms, Trojan Horses and Viruses..

OT..Crow how do you like this one??..
My kid just left for Chignik Alaska / Barring Sea..(I'm a worried nut).. Anyway my husband and I went looking for traveling items for him ..he will be gone until the end of Aug..I picked out a traveling pillow..in which I was told not to buy because it would be to much for him to carry up there..against my better judgement I listened to my Husband..
I took my son to the Airport with lumpy suitcases ready to rip thru the seams..(the airports are a joke but that is for the other board..lol).. I commented to my Husband that I hope those suitcases don't pop open..
That night I went to bed and when I got there .. I noticed that not One of my feather pillows were gone.. but BOTH of them..
I went out in the living room and asked my husband about it ..
"Oh yeah.. he told me he took your pillows"...LOL
.. Can you believe it??...that's another reason I shouldn't listen to my Husband..and of course my kid was with me most of the day and never mentioned anything..He was worried about getting an Ipod and being able to write it off..lol my husband said "ARE you kidden me!!! HE better be worried about paying attention on that boat"...
He's my baby he's 20..he told his friends that he Taught Paige how to play the Guitar...lol ...woooooweeee did the sparks fly when one of his friends asked her about it at a gathering..
..Of course it was hysterical..
I can vaguely remember teeners using my private quarters as a pitstop. I never gave them any attention, bring mean and a grouch. Always checked to see what was stolen after they left.
Those that are still around are old married boys and girls with grandchildren.
So eventually, it works out.
Yeah, they stole stuff. But nothing really important. LOL!!

The guy in the picture is Paige's Boyfriend..
Believe it or not...I am still trying to get the DVD copied...after haveing my son halfway install it on my computer to put it on a disk..took forever..(that didn't work) then bought an expensive software program and fiddled with it for a few days..to find out that I don't have a dvd burner in my computer...lol..
I am at my kids mercy and ..on their time and they give me just enough (time) to let the bath or shower water get hot so they can change and move on...My house is the Pit Stop for my kids at this age...lol
Link did not work. try again!
lol.. Obviously they don't know Paige..

Ghostriders in Disguise captivate Zia crowd
It’s obvious from the pompadours who’s not there just to browse. A pretty, saucer-eyed woman in denim Daisy Dukes and shit-kickers has her bouffant tied up in a red bandana, a giant sparkly tarantula broach nestled in the thicket, and she’s swaying her hips ever so slightly. Little kids in tie-dyed T-shirts bearing skulls dance with mommy, a pigtailed redhead.

Keep them cards and letters coming, Diddy..
Well, well, well... it looks like I can post over here during happy hour! LOL
You are right, the CDs should be kept for the cheap sale trade until they get a professional studio to do it for them. Do not send them to a radio station until you get some professionally done CDs..
Singing is also pretty much a full time job, especially if one throws in a bit of bandleader as it goes. Get a backup gittar player, and free Paige from that task, although she is quite good at it.. Willie Nelson, with 40 years experience, can do both pretty well, but he has gittared so long that he can do it w/o paying attention.
Let Paige glitter and skitter, as she sings..doing what comes naturally. Use a guitar as a prop if she needs to, but primarily be a showperson.
I will look forward to the video...AYE...and thanks. Henry
I am going to try to send you a bootlegged video of The Clydesdale as soon as I can download it ..
They are going on a Live Radio Station out of Berkeley College at some time at the end of the month I think...
http://kalx.berkeley.edu/2006top10.htm
A DJ there named Tumbleweed....wanted a cd to play on the air for them... but as you well know the quality of the sound is less than what it should be....So I imagine that Paige and the group will just wing it..She's real good at inprompt situations
They are also playing for a very interesting wedding that will be comming up...I think it could be a huge connection...
I will tell when I know more...
The Clydesdale have really been a busy little band lately..
They have added a honky tonk piano player..to record a funny xmas song and if he behaves he may even be added to a few more..
This fella just happens to work at the salon..lol..
Talk about edward scissor hands...he's flips them shears around like a real gun slinger tosses them up then twirls them at just the right angle to place them exactly where they belong.. next to his arsonal of scissors ..all 20 of them.. that lay in his shear holster...worn on the hips low and towards the front...lol..Can we say a little flamboyant?
Will the colonel be replaced?? Hmmmmmm..Says he doesn't do Beeehives...we'll see just how observent he becomes...lol
Cannot blame them tourusts!! LOL!
The Scots Wholesalers didn't come up... but I did get a little (smile) off of the Clan Graham..
"We left Christine behind as we said goodbye to Glasgow and boarded our buses for Edinburgh. It seemed like a quick ride to the city and the buses parked on a main street so that we could easily walk to the High Kirk of St. Giles.
Henry Graham, from Georgia, was no sooner off the bus, when tourists asked him if they could have their pictures taken with him. He was certainly a hit with the tourists in Edinburgh and Henry seemed to be enjoying his new found fame."
LOL.. Yeah...I bet you "did" have yourself a good time.
For a gigle, Google "Scots Wholesalers".
Or to find out more about my Clan..Google "Clan Graham"..
Yep, Grams is smart!! The Kids are well on their way, nae doot. Kids saving money?? Unheard of!!
Here are some wholsalers I have found. Just GOOGLE the product and add whosalers. example..." Bottle openers wholesalers." or specify whatever. I saw some cool leather jackets, Bikers and Non-bikers.

Grandma's gonna be settin up an LLC for the Band...soon..Right along with the Hairdressers...Yep Grams is a very smart lady..
Gotta get that tax Id off of Courtney's name...they saved all of their Band Money...which is more than a few thousand...not normal for Bands. But then this is not a normal Band.
Now..If they ever get a professional recording.. no tellen what will happen..They now have 22 original songs..with one on the way..It's about the Devil come knocking..but I don't think she is gonna put that Devil in Georgia..lol..if you know what I mean...
I think they need to market more than the CD's and Tee Shirts...
They are looking for Boot Bottle Openers and Shot Glasses or Flasks that they can sell...
If you run across any sites that show these post them please...Thanks
