The Patent is worthless. Nobody is going to pay any kind of Royalty or License fees for their Vague Claims. Sullivans firing was a good thing. However, they are now essentually a Sequans IOT Reseller. They are playing in a crowded field. They will need lots of sales and repeat business. They are not bringing anything of value to the Telecom Market that isnt already done. And I already stated if a company requires large volume of cellular modules, they are going to go Direct with Sequans or one of the other industry providers. Just take a look at several of Sequans latest set of deals as a prime example. If the get any sales at all it will be with small niche businesses that probably have very little experience with Telecom Products.
Sullivan = PONDSCUM EXACTLY AS IDENTIFIED EARLY ON.
Keep watching , patent in place more to follow, good things happening.
The GoPuck CEO also wasnt too happy about the G200 not being Certified by the FCC or the Carriers. He was pissed after I showed him no records existed in the FCC or the PTCRB for the G200 as he had concerns on Compliance for FCC Part 15 Certs. Gregg fully lied to him.
Yeah, he has a NDA with Greg because he wanted to do a large public trial run before other competitions copys the idea.
The GoPuck CEO I talked too wasnt exactly happy the new Geotraq website has him in it.
Massive Sarcasm "Because Greg would never steal content from other people..."
Except for the previouse website, and the leads list that almost got him banned from linked from scraping data. Then later spamming/telemarketing that data.
I hope ARCI didn't pay for the GeoTraq logo in "his" exit settlement. You can find the Geotraq "G" in many places. Hopefully the new General Manger will fix this and come up with an original logo. Kind of reminds me of Pixelon... (Wiki it)
GeoTraq Logo
Another GeoTraq Logo
Even another Geotraq logo
http://geekotips.blogspot.com/2013/04/get-labnol-like-blogger-template.html
This is a SMALL sample of duplicated GeoTraq logos.
Makes you wonder if ANY of it was original.
The deal for Geotraq had a $200K Cash Payment and an $800K Loan along with the Preferred Shares. It is unclear on the disposition of the Loan because ARCI burried this entire Transaction as part of the Intangible Assets.
This is a foggy memory but, greg once said something about taking loan with ARCI that he was some how personal responsible for part of the funding.
I have never found out if this was true or or another lie so take it with a grain of salt. Maybe that part of the stock shares stuff i don't know.
It is a little confusing at first glance. I went back to look at the Proxy Statement from the Fall. Greg had 57,718 Preferred shares. Tony Issac and that dude Juan Yunis still have the bulk of the shares. So they took back half, now we need to find out the reason(s) for the Termination. We should do some side bets on how fast he leaves Las Vegas.
And Geotraq still has a way to go to be a success with what they have. There are a number of systems that are required for complete End2End Solutions. The most problematic being the Form Factor, you can't readily put this into existing systems. Geotraq makes it sound simple in reality it isnt that easy. If you play in this game, you have to have a Form Factor that easily fits into a wide range of Embedded Computer Products (such as Mini-PCIe). The other major issue I have seen time and time again is Corporate Buyers do not buy products from "Untrusted" Sources. This is the part I mentioned before on Telecom being built on Relationships. They have Pierre now running the show, so that is a moderate good sign. Now it is going to come down to deals and they are going to need a lot them. Not to mention they will need repeat business. It is too bad Geotraq didnt get a piece of those two huge deals Sequans announced with that International Pallet Company nor that Asian Fleet Management for Asset Tracking. Sequans Partnership with PoLTE closed those deals. However this demonstrates what will happen on all future deals. Companies will not be interested in going to a Reseller if they require large volume shipments. So they will more than likely have to find Niche untapped Markets where they will have to bust ass in helping companies succeed with this solution. And even on the chip side, you have a dozen players. Qualcomm being the leader.
Since they essentually are now just a Reseller of Sequans IOT Monarch, a Corporate Buyer will no doubt go direct vs buying from them. They have to play on the "Services" End besides selling hardware for this to be a true Success. Margins on these Cellular Modems are slim. So they are not out of the deep water just yet.
As well, lets see how fast Pierre gets rid of the COO and that video chick. If you are going to clean house, you do it right. I say they are gone before the end of the month.
As well, they are talking on using this new Device for Sensors. Well I have news for them, that market is totally saturated. This was the area I originally was targeting a Solution for Unattended Automated Car Wash Locations. Just my small market filled up fast with over a dozen suppliers when I was originally talking to Gregg. And that was over a year ago. The thing I found was all these sensors end up more for the Industrial Side. And with that, you have several huge System Integrator Players, such as Dell, HP, IBM, etc. Also the bulk of the Industrial Sensors are in the 12, 24 and 48 Volt range. There are only a small subset of sensors in the 5Volt range that wire direct to these Cellular Modules. As with my car wash design, i had to deal with dozens of Fluid Sensors that were 24 Volt. So for my Cellular side... i put a simple USB Modem on a small form factor computer and then ran this as a Gateway to all the Sensors that were hooked up to all the Fluid Tanks and stuff like Air Pumps and Vacuum Cleaners and Garage Door Opener Relays. So for a lot of sites, you wont do a One to One Solution. It ends up being a One to Many as far as Cellular Connectivity. And this is where the Celluar Carriers like AT&T and Verizon will make the bulk of the money here. It is all about Access.
OH YEH,Beer and pizza for all .
From the latest 8k:
I didnt see in the announcement anything on Greg keeping 50%. Where is that noted? I did note ARCI is stating they are retiring these shares. So this would have to be an additional Write-Off of their Intangibles.
Geotraq changed their "About" statement too. No mention of CellID Asset Tracking. It appears they sre now fully going to play in the IOT Product Space. One thing is clear, by removing Gregg, this actually has a chance of success. They are going to need to have a good pipeline of sales. Margins a super tight in being a Reseller. So now we get to see how Pierre will do with this. There is also a lot of competition as well.
And this is far better news than them getting that worthless Patent Granted. Now how many of us would have enjoyed being a Fly on the Wall... when Tony Fired him?? This actually restores some confidence, but but not by much.
He kept 50% of them
Prob vested at patent delivery
Who knows
Oh now that is awesome news. And ARCI stripped Gregg of his Preferred Shares. No golden parachute
I'm sorry... Just drinking Champagne and celebrating.
Again you go with the website trap
So we leave visit traces...
Junior trick
Someone should tell GeoTraq to take Gregg off of their site ASAP. Maybe Greggy will see this and do it himself. Bwahahahahaaaa
It's in the 8k... Found it.
Proof of this news please.
ARCI terminated Sullivan on Jan 16
Yeah, I brought up to him when I first skimmed this thing, witch was probably one of the rejected versions. Is he truly belied he is the only one to think of power saving in a cell phone. And dosen't aknolage that pretty much every dam cell chipset is going to be extremely power sensitive, because as we all know cell phone want to have a small a battery as possible.
And without giving away and "trade secrets" of how it was implemented I can tell you the g-200 used a crude and what I will call an idiotic solution to a non issue.
To put in simple turns its like connecting a fancy wifi Enabled light switch to night light. It solves the issue of the light being on and "wasting power" but the fancy light switch uses more energy than just leaving the night light running all the time. Effectually making it worse and convoluted.
Claims diluted down to no competitive advantage
Now greggy, who’s willing to pay you royalitoes ?
A patent is as good as the depts of the pockets of the hplder.
Will it be worth spending to defend ?
Apparently, most manufacturers have their own different technologies, for many years now, to ensure longer battery life, and it’s not what your patent describe.
And tell is Greggy, how did the IP jump from GTRQ to ARCI ?
Againstallodds you are correct in your assessment
I’ve been around patents for years now
Many many patents are not being renewed because they can’t bring any economic advantages to the patent holders.
If you can’t get royalties out of a patent, or if you can’t block competition to get in a market, or if it is so easy to go around your patent, then the patent is basically useless. And the industry as a whole adopted standards that make the patent off the main road, then you’ve patented the wrong method. Sorry.
So receiving a patent is nice, congratulations.
But it has no power of nuisance and the industry will go on, patent or not, IMO
In the mean time being a reseller of Sequans isn’t bringing much value to the market.
I respectfully disagree with your assessment and characterization. This isnt about people admitting they were wrong. And 2nd on your narrow view of an Approval you are failing to understand the value of what a Patent is and what it provides.
Greggs very actions with people created an air of mistrust.
Patents Grant the Inventor the Rights for their "Claims" and here in is the reality. The Claims in this Patent fall into a category of being "Obvious" to a "Practioner of the Art". Patent Applications have to be considered "Unique" and "Non-Obvious" to those in the Industry in which it seeks Patent Rights.
I have several peers that reviewed this Patent and their assessment is exactly what I had concluded. It is a Weak Patent with no or neglible Market Value. At least 2 of the Claims also have the potential to be fought over in court. There a lots of cases concerning First to File vs First to Invent.
Now as far as the key concept/method being Patented, Using a Text Message to Set a Timer Value. That isnt some Grand Invention here. Granted it is a way to accomplish the task, but it isnt the way the Cellular Telecom Industry does this activity. We have Standard's Bodies which dictate how we do certain activities. You can do things outside of the Standards, but it is only in concert with Designing New Solutions and then eventually you get your solution implemented into the Standards. The Telecom Industry choose long ago to play nice with each other on many regards... so we have our oen rukes we abide by so that all the many "parts" that make up the Communication EcoSystem can work and more importantly it is when the system breaks, do we understand why the Standards and adhering to them is the most important aspects.
This Patent also has nothing in it describing how to get accurate locations based in Triagulation. What he did describe is the bare minimum of reading Signal Strength.
You want to review some Strong Patents in this area go look up the Dozens of Patents from PoLTE.
Who told you that it's worthless, Approved must mean it has merit.
Greg, that patent is worthless
It describes a solution looking for a problem
The industry has a standard now being used to wake up their modules without using the method you describe in your patent. So battery life extension is already widely in use in current hardware.
So the entire industry is clear to operate and nobody infringes on your patent
So there is no real economic value to this patent. Let’s see if you’ll spend the extra money to go for other countries protection
So sell some of those shares and get yourself a nice frame and put it well in view for you to brag about.
Now why don’t you tell us how the original 2015 patent application got out of GTRQ and ended up in ARCI ?
By the way you owe me finders fee for Sequans
All clear to move forward ,keep watching great things to come in the next couple of months , huge hurdle overcome with issue of patent.
An Aprroval is still an approval, every body said no patent in the works ,somebody was wrong but not willing to admit they were wrong.
Concerning PCT. Gregg filed the Patent App as Non Public and one of the rules is you cant file for Patent Protection outside the USA during the Examination Period. There is no indication as of yet if they are filing anywhere else such as in the EU.
In reality this is such a Weak Patent. A couple of the Claims, I am still trying to make sense of. I am still having the whole thing reviewed by some of my peers.
The more important details are the times it was in a "Rejected" State. It was not only "Rejected" from the get-go, but also it was in a "Rejected" State in July of 2017 and again this past fall. It got revived out of a "Final" Rejection State. So that opens up some questions on if ARCI knew the Status. The whole thing was "Do-or-Die". And it appears they ended up paying for a Top Dog Patent Lawyer to push this one thru.
Gregg can hang this one on the wall, but it is essentually worthless.
No Certifications have been granted for either the G200 or this new G400. They will at least have an easier time with the G400 on Certification due to Sequans and PoLTE being already Certified, but if they alter the Firmware Code it will require a ReCertification with the Carriers. However, any product they stick this into will have to comply with FCC Rules and will need Part 15 Certs. There still are no records in the FCC Databases granting anything for Geotraq. They havent even applied other than just the basics
Did they apply for PCT as well ?
So not much value in this patent.
Do you know if Solovan’s module received any certification ?
Great DD job by the way.
Links to Geotraq Patent Figures/Drawings.
It took me a bit to find the links to the Patent Drawings. There are 9 Pages with each Page representing the "Figure" mentioned in the Text of the Patent. I know Technical Folks will get a laugh... how about some of you Non-Techies take a look.
https://portal.uspto.gov/pair/view/BrowsePdfServlet?objectId=IA8K7GX3PXXIFW3&lang=DINO
Here is some of the Examiner's Rejections there are a lot of files on this so this is just the Rejections that took place on 10/02/2018.
https://portal.uspto.gov/pair/view/BrowsePdfServlet?objectId=JMM62CFHRXEAPX0&lang=DINO
A little longer for the Patent?? Well take a look at the Patent Transaction History now that it is a Public Record. One thing is real clear. It did in fact get "Rejected" not just from the very beginning of the Application Filing, but also it appears it was in a "Final" Rejection Status twice including being in that State this past fall. I am still compiling the Textual Revisions, but essentually the language of the claims was strongly being objected to by the Patent Examiner and righfully so. No doubts it took a Patent Lawyer to re-write this in order to be Granted. Then take a look at the Figures/Drawings. Anyone with any Technical Knowledge is going to consider this an absolute joke. The drawings and flow charts are as about as vague and general as it gets.
IMHO, there was no reason to have filed for Non-Public Publication other than to hide the Transaction History as well as allowing the Claims to be evaluated for what they are vs what Sullivan was bragging about having accomplished. If this was Public, you would have to conclude Sullivan would never had the ability to raise capital knowing this was soundly being Rejected. This isnt something to "Celebrate" and now you have put a Market Value on it. Which in my oppinion, it is negligible for the reasons I stated prior.
In fact, now you have Geotraq, using someone elses Intellectual Property to solve Cellular-Based Asset Tracking (PoLTE). It is doubtful they will use their Patent Solution even in their own product. So ask yourself... what is it all worth?
No Company is going to use SMS (Text Messages) to alter their Firmware Settings on Mobile Devices when doing this via the way the Telecom Industry Standards demand(aka Over the Air Updates). And Power Saving Modes (PSM) are already "Baked" into every CPU and have been for years. This Patent describes absolutely nothing of real value. Changing a Timer Value via a Text Message is the Main Claim to this Patent as being the means to saving power.
Good luck thinking this is a Golden Invention.
Material for GTRQ shareholders to sue for !!!!!
Approved patent will be a game changer ,more to be released ,Keep Watching.
Nonetheless he screwed GTRQ shareholders
Nope. Gregg sullivan is a lying snake sleazeball. Everybody around to witness this shit saw exactly how this clown defrauded the public.
Told you all along he was a fraudster too - WHICH HE IS.
A lowlife lying piece of shit that raised capital from the public via an offering then filed a form 15 and stripped off company assets and disappeared.
Pure scum.
No congrats to that lowlife scumbag for THE FRAUD he has Perpetrated on the public as an officer /director.
None whatsoever as far as I’m concerned.
So Gregg Sullivan is not a liar ,Just took a little longer for the patent ,Credibility Restored maybe it's was never in doubt.
Now that the Patent is Public. We get to see the Transaction History via the PublicPAIRs Database.
https://portal.uspto.gov/pair/PublicPair
As suspected it went thru multiple "Rejection" Phases. So no doubts this Patent went thru some serious modifications to get it to pass. The last rejection was this past September. So this explains the generic language and lack of full details on the claims. It will take some time to go thru a lot of this now that all the details are Public.
Well look at that ,told you it was coming.
Congrats are in order however now its time to actually understand what was Patented and determine a true market value.
First run on reading the text of the claims... it is describing several known and existing functions, in a generic way. There are a few of these claims I know are going to raise some issues with companies that have done these methods for years. One of the "Claims" is on describing how to take the Cell Id and get the GeoLocation Coordinates. There are at least 3 companies that put these Databases together including the FCC Databases. It is kind of interesting that was allowed.
Let us see if this Patent Survives any Court Challenges.
And the key "Claims" are on using SMS (ie Text Messages) to set a Timer. This was an area, I talked at length with Gregg on. However, this isnt how we manage Mobile Device Settings. Gregg acted like he found some Grand and Golden way that nobody else thought could be done. He didnt like it when I questioned why he would want to control a cellular device in this manner knowing each Text would cost him money as well as the existing way of Setting Values Remotely is already well defined in doing "Over The Air" Firmware Updates (OTA). He also didnt like it when I told him take the scenario of a Million Devices all being asleep and then you are trying to set a new value via this method. The way we built the SMS Network... you would have this Text Message trying to reach a Device... in the same manner that your phone would be Off for an extended time. This approach will create a an issue with causing the Network to constantly "Page" these "sleeping" devices. The majority of these Text Messages would expire and would be dropped for failure to deliver. He also never did answer my questions on how he was going to solve these devices constantly having to Re-Authenticate if they were on the move and they constantly were going between a wake state and a sleep state. Now this Patent is describing taking the RSSI signals and sending those values. It isnt a complete method for Triangulation. This is were PoLTE may have a clear issue with this "claim". There is a number of components that are missing for this claim to actually work. Until you "Sync & Lock" onto those other Signals you would never know what their Cell IDs are based on Signal Strength alone. You can not do an accurate Range Finding Assessment from these values alone, because the Power levels of these Signals is always going up and down based on the conditions within that Cell. Time to run this Patent thru a number of industry folks for further assessment.
Granted Geotraq now has Patented this approach. Will it be a accepted as a means to solve the intended issue at hand? No.
I'll be damned ! Congrats Greggy
Well what do you know.. Patent was finally granted.
https://patents.justia.com/patent/10182402
Got to get the full text. First inspection of it, it is totally generic in nature. so let see how this plays out.
I suspect we shall see a stock price pop on the news... however, next geotraq/arci still needs sales.
And speaking of sales. Kind of funny the Sequans Cellular Chip Mfg, partnered with PoLTE. I found it very interesting a few months ago when it appeared Geotraq decided to go with Sequans. Sequans already had POLTE integrated into their Chipsets months ago and there have been a few huge deals Sequans announced in doing Cellular-Based Asset Tracking. One with a huge Industrial Pallet Company and the other a Chinese Fleet Management Company. Funny Geotraq isnt being used in either deal. Now those PoLTE guys know what they are doing and they have upwards of 70 Patents and Patents Pending. It will be interesting to see how they view this Patent. You look at the quality of their Patents and it is pretty easy to understand their could be some court fights in the near future. Then there is the generic language on controling power, that stuff is going to raise a huge issue with any number of companies that created these features. Its kind of like trying to Patent a "wheel". PoLTE designed the true way of doing Radio Range Finding and they intitally did a lot of this work for Military Sonar and Radar Systems. Their Chief Scientist alone has like 26 Patents in this area.
I am wondering too on the language of using SMS as the Data Transport. Anyway... need to study the entire Patent file. As far as IoT and sending Sensor data, that isnt using SMS in 4G and beyond. In the Telecom EcoSystem, Non-IP Data Delivery (NIDD) of any kind is being sent to a Network Element called the Service Control Exposure Function (SCEF) and acts as a Proxy to nail up connections to any number of Application Specific 3rd Party Services. And this stuff got standardized in Release 12 of the 3GPP Standards and we now are working on Release 16. Geotraq either way is a day late and a dollar short. IOT devices are not going to use SMS for transporting any kind of data. PoLTE is using the Verizon SCEF Network and they were validated on their Nationwide LTE Network already with Sequans. Especially their LTE Band 13 700MHz. And that is the golden ticket for In Building Coverage.
At this point they still have not brought anything new to the table and so ask yourself, with a crowded market for IoT Devices along with dozens of established players, would you opt for a startup or go with a company that already has proven technology and sales?
yeah they dont seam to get the whole you have to accely apply to have a pending patent.
