Are There Other Message Boards (choices)
Chairman: marty_lewis

Recently there have been a lot of changes at IHUB, some good, some bad. People that are unhappy with the changes are told to vote with their feet if they don't like it. While I personally don't think that this is the best attitude for any message board adminstration to project, it seems that here at IHUB, that is now their position.
Members should have a board to discuss other boards, the pros and cons, the links to know where to go, and just a place to make people aware that there ARE other boards out there.
One board I found seems to be pretty good. The name is TheLion.com
The link is:
http://www.thelion.com/bin/forumlist.cgi
*************
If things get too unbearable at a site, (or expensive) there's always options if you are aware of them.
I might asree with charging only if the fee is nominal. I probably would not be a poster at all if I had to pay a fee. For one thing I VERY RARELY pay for anything with a credit card over the net. I just don't feel comfortable doing that.
Vinny, reset your clock. SH
Lisa, I wouldn't like it. SH

I read many of the threads on IHUB although I normally contain my posting to a few; your post deserves a congratulatory response.
IHUB, is in my opinion an investor's "hub". We the members are the spokes of that hub, which supports the outer ever spinning wheel called "worthwhile content". You might never have considered yourself to be a publisher but that is exactly what each and every one who has ever posted on a public form is.
At present our hub is free for the asking but I am personally all for the hub charging for signing up to post. This will accomplish two things at once IMHO; greatly reduced multiple accounts and also improved quality of the post content placed here, which should be mainly stock related on the stock threads.
Don't get me wrong, I'll post off topic and have fun but I do take the market very seriously. There is a time and a place for everything.
Your post is well timed and I thank you for posting it.
Sincerely,
Reid
Dear fellow members of IHUB and dear IH Bob,
While sleeping last night I was suddenly awakened by a vision. A bright light was shining in my face. Behind the bright light I could see the ominous shadow of a man. As the the light came closer I suddenly felt warmth all around me. I quickly jumped off of the park bench and realized it was a cop about to hit me with his night stick while his doberman was breathing down my face. I knew then and there that I had to change my ways.
Therefore, my friends, I come before you, a changed man. I apologize to all members for the disturbance I may have caused. And I also apologize to IH Bob for making his life miserable the last few days. I hope you will all find it in your hearts to forgive me.
(Psst...Someone please pass the collection plate)
I had my reasons to behave in such a manner, but despite those reasons there comes a time in a man's life where he must put differences aside and show maturity. That time has come for me. And I know if I really work hard at it, my maturity might last until the week-end.
Sincerely,
The Born-Again
SirVinny
You made a sarcastic post to a friend of mine. No, Neenny is not Bob's attorney.
He is already well aware of it....One way Edicts don't set well with me
Suppose you were told not to post about something and the other party went on continued ranting binges....and you had to sit quitely by and watch it....
not a happy thought
i wasn't talking to you poet. eom
What is your point?
I have to say, it doesn't seem right if there's "Don't post to or about this person" edict, that she should be able to post like that with impunity. PM Bob, maybe?
neeny, who are you? bob's lawyer?
Well I have a response for it that is for sure. I wonder how long I am suppose to not say anything while she continues with her rants.
Hell, even I'm not responding to that one! -gg
And GRUB.
You may agree with my 3rd sentence but you are still allowing her to reference me and my comments and I am not allowed to respond
One way edicts are fair????????????? I don't think so. May I go comment on this post ...especially the Class Action part...or are you going to do something about it.
Also, you warned people not to make posts like this on that thread. Two strikes against this post. What kind of strikes against the poster?

Oh sure.. they think they can fling darts and then HIDE in their cyber obscurity, BUT NOT ANY
LONGER. Many people who have not come forward because they think they have no recourse
but to retreat are going to see there is RECOURSE. I find it extremely audacious on their part
that they think they can get away with anything and claim... "OH MY you are harming me and my
family and my veil of secrecy".. what goes around comes around and the darts will get them. Its
one thing when they have something concrete to back up their slander but they thrive on
innuendo, anticipation of the "BIG LAW SUIT" and there is absolutely nothing. I have 10 cases of
one of the posters here on IHUB and SI who has thrown 'class law suits' on people to intimidate
them when they don't have a clue or have NEVER followed up any of their threats but only live on
the intimidation.. THOSE DAYS ARE OVER.
We are gathering many posters who are coming forward and the amount is incredible, virtually
scores of posters have been intimidated by "class action law suits' and other junk while the
intimidators are high-fiving each other with their victims. There are attorneys that specialize in
INTERNET HARASSMENT. There are precedents and fines all over the country.
Do you spam donkeys?
If not, I'm not interested.
EDIT: Just read your post, Bob. Sorry.
I'm still busy trying to catch up with PM's, so I haven't read any of the latest posts to this thread, but want to ask everyone a favor: Let's lose the "playground" atmosphere so we don't dilute this thread needlessly in the same way I didn't want the Q&A thread diluted. I'll also do my part.
Post 6, I think.
So, it sounds like it is a 9:1 ratio. If I have made 6 stock related posts, it sounds to me like I can make 54 garbage posts.
Anybody need me to distribute some spam???
"Definitely maybe"
HA
at least it wasn't definitely no
so for example,
let us say someone posted something on this site and deleted in the edit window of time
so even though this site may not save it
it still might be accessible?
also, shouldnt it be accessible some way through the ISP since it all has to go through the ISP or whatever access one is using

post under 10
if someone posts something on a chat site via a browser could it be accessed off their machine 2 months from now...
Definitely maybe. Web servers can trace just about any aspect of user activity. Same with routers and other Internet "plumbing". Never assume you're complete anonymouse on the 'net.
Time to go bring my kid home from the hospital... I am so happy he's doing better. His big brother has missed him this week.
Feel free to ask questions about tracing, hacking, etc and I'll answer as best I can later tonight.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
so what does that mean
if someone posts something on a chat site via a browser could it be accessed off their machine 2 months from now...
and if they are using a company access network etc.. to post on the net would it be accessible...

LOL!

As I read the rules you can make up to ten posts in any given time slot and have to make one stock related post in the same period. If you make six posts(stock related) in the same time slot you still have to make at least one in the next time period. BOB?!?!? SH
Did you buy the EMC yet?
No, I'm probably at least a few days away from making any trades w/ my covered calls. I haven't properly chosen all my stocks and dd'ed them and I still need to develop my plan since this is a new strategy for me.
Do you have a preferred board that you'd like me to use? Would rather keep my options plays in 1 place. (Feel free to answer privately... didn't mean to put you on the spot.)

Again??? But I am so tired.
Oh wait, you weren't telling me to do it, you were asking what it meant...sorry.
It means Good For You.
I know that emails and computer files can be accessed even when deleted and that is figuring in more and more in lawsuits...
If you use a browser, odds are that a good portion of your activity over the last few days is well preserved in your history logs and browser cache. Some apps only throw deleted files into trash cans which are not emptied until explicitly specified. Even then, remnants of files that are software recoverable still remain.
Beyond that, you have to drop to a physical level to restore data. Disks store information by "burning" 1's and 0's on a magnatized surface. Those 1's and 0's can linger - even when written over so someone with the right tools (probably a microscope and a lot of patience) can re-construct remnants of files. Costs go up accordingly with each level of work required for file restoration.
All that said, browsers are MORE apt to "remember" information than many other types of apps. Furthermore, you have NO idea what type of logging the web server is doing or how the web app is implemented. There are some really nasty ways one can spy on clients from the server.
Even beyond that, data carriers can trace traffic. It's possible to tap your DSL or cable modem line with a network sniffer and record every bit of net traffic coming across your line. It's also possible to have routers record traffic passing thru them.

I've got a question: are you considering a limit on the number of threads a person can be a Chairperson and director on?
Actually, this'd be a good post for the Q&A thread. But I guess here's fine since I, in my typical sinister manner, gave a link to this thread that automatically added it to one's bookmarks.
The Terms of Use do specify a limit (4 boards), but it's not currently enforced and I'm not in any hurry to enforce it. I don't see it as something of consequence yet and possibly never will.
How about GFY?

TRP,
It means "oh just be quiet"
I have made 6 stock or related posts today. How many of these OT posts do I get to make?
What does STFU mean, Jorjie?

Sam, did you know I have an Options Box thread here on IHub as well?
http://www.investorshub.com/beta/board.asp?board_id=397
Did you buy the EMC yet? At this rate, the market may see more weakness into tomorrow, if they don't do an EOD ramp.
I suspect that you are asking me because Marty won't respond and that the accusations were about me.
I have been labeled a basher before, no big thing to me. However, every person has their own style and mine was very specifically not to delve into questioning the people behind a stock that I suspected to be a scam, but to go after the business model as this is something that I am familiar with. I believe that Marty assumed that my tactics were the same as others because he associated my name with them.
For whatever reason though, if he was an honorable person, he would admit the mistake and move on.
You snagged a grub too, Poet. Didn't ya notice?

Post number 5? which list? the 'a" list or the "b" list?
seriously, I have no clue what your entire post was supposed to mean.
Can't speak for Bob but I would say it's probably not a good idea. SH post #3. Just made my stock board post for this time slot SEVU.
if there's nothing there about someone you target, you and your crowd fabricate things by asking questions that are really accusations but you put a question mark at the end of the sentence instead of a period. if that fails, you and the vigilantes make vague references to imaginery misdeeds, that only exist in your own minds
Is this an example of what the enquiring mind of Marty was referring to?
Why won't he answer your questions?
Why does he ask a lot of questions, ignore the responses and refuse to answer legitimate questions posed to him?
Don't know why I'm asking you.......?
the info is flowing fast and furious, but for the most part, the posts are just a waste of time.
Only 11 steps to go. :)
Post number 5, I think.
Hey Bob, are we allowed to use the abbreviation
"STFU"?
Like if someone is saying stuff that they are uninformed about, can we say "Just STFU"?
Truthfully, I don't read all the posts. (on any board) It takes too much time. Obviously, I missed his 'confession" LOL LOL.
Marty, you're making me dizzy. Post #2, I think. Haven't fulfilled my stock requirement post for this time slot yet. SH
Marty,
If you look at "Jean the Avenue's" first post, you'll see s/he admits to being Johnny LaRue.
That'll be $5 for the psychic reading. Charge for "healing hands" to be negotiated separately. ;)
I don't understand how you can know that the person posting is who you say it was. do you have special powers? the reason I ask, I was hoping that if you did, that it was a package deal, and that you also had 'healing hands'. I have been helping bob a lot with ihub recently, and it's giving me a headache from all the work I have to do pointing out things that he avoids. (besides, I do it for free, and my charity work always tires me out because I enjoy it so much) If you say yes give me a time and day, and I'll lay my forehead against the screen, and you can be my psychic doctor.
This is post number one I think on my "b" list. I decided to keep two lists, "a" and "b". The b" list will be for the types of posts that really should be limited, like criticisms, and suggestions, you know the silly stuff. My "a'" list will be for the important stuff like 'set up", and "grub", and parody songs. Those I think will be unlimited. That shouldn't be a problem, it seems some people are able to just decide what rules apply to them, so in the spirit of fraternity, I am joining the "my way" bandwagon. And anyway, who could take issue with my criteria for what is important and what is not as important?
You must agree at least once or twice in the past that you've found yourself in a heavy discussion on a thread, the info is flowing fast and furious, but for the most part, the posts are just a waste of time. The people are so stupid, they are actually talking about stocks, for heavens sake. So what happens? Along comes 2 or 3 people out of nowhere, they break in with the important stuff, "set up!" "grub!!" "DZ!!', and then everyone sits back in their chairs, slaps themselves in the forehead and everyone says, eureaka! why didn't *I* think of that, it was so obvious, I am so stupid.
so, to sum it up.. this is post number 1 on my "b" list.
here is a technical question
I know that emails and computer files can be accessed even when deleted and that is figuring in more and more in lawsuits...
I dont guess the same thing applies to everything posted on the net since it goes through a browser...
post 2
Nice grub, Bob.
I've got a question: are you considering a limit on the number of threads a person can be a Chairperson and director on? Also, I've noticed a couple of threads where a director is either not an active member of IHub. It makes me wonder if the account might be a ruse.
So Bob, what about you? Where's your link? Are we gonna have to suspend you OR as an administrator are you supposed to stay neutral? SH
Poast # 1
Through scheduling screw-ups, yes. The little league games are played on the elementary school fields. Sometimes different people in the office cross-schedule a LL game against football practice. Fortunately, when the football coaches arrive they are usually gracious about moving their practices to an unused part of the playfield until our games are over. But I've never had games scheduled head-to-head. If so, I guess I would suggest that the umps of that game and I would toss a coin for who gets the field first and who waits for the other game to end..
But this is a small town and everybody knows everybody so we tend to settle things pretty amicably. Except when the parents get upset with a call, then it's not amicable at all! But the volunteers -- coaches, umps, volunteer boards -- are pretty cooperative. Thank goodness!
We actually have more trouble with soccer -- their fields are adjacent to ours but don't intrued on ours the way the football ones do. But they tend to wander all over the place, kick balls indiscriminately onto the diamond at the worst moments, etc. Soccer players, IMO (and I was one in high school) tend to be less disciplined than football players.
How do you handle it?
Post no. 2, stock post on Mustard Seeds Investment Club thread
Just a note to myself that I've checked through the posts up to this point and everyone's been making the requisite stock-related posts, and then some.
Post number 4?
I don't know the details of how that works internally, but would strongly suspect that only the last revision is physically saved.
From a programming perspective, it makes sense to me. I tend to believe, however, if that post is captured somehow, it has essentially been "recorded" and could stand as evidence. If someone places a voice call and hangs up, the call (and signal carrying the voice) is gone but it can be captured on tape and later used as evidence (right Ms. Lewinsky?). Personally, I look at copied posts the same way though I have to figure in the credibility of the copier as w/o some other technology, there's no way of knowing the copied text is genuine or not w/o some record of the original post.
Considering the number of people that read one such shocking post last night on the "other" site, I can't imagine that one having any problems standing up.
When I occassionally say something I later regret, I will edit the post to remove the offending words and try to offer a bit of an apology and explaination for my poor actions. There are other effective methods too - like name calling. :)

post no. 1
From one "ump" to another:
Have you had to deal with a group of kids wanting to play football on the same field on which you're trying to officiate a baseball game? If so, how've you handled it? :)
Post number 3.
Thank You.
The only comment I can make at this time is concerning this:
"but would strongly suspect that only the last revision is
physically saved."
I hope you recognize that duplicitous posters can make posts, get a response, and then delete it thus causing the responder to look like the victimizer instead of the victim.
