I ALWAYS miss all the fun, Bob! So when did we surrender to Canada? And French Canada at that!
Is it because we were stooopid and sent our army a long way from home instead of guarding against the evil plots of warmongering Canucks?
Does the date have anything to do with this?
Is this where to post complaints about the new site? Well here's one for you: #msg-885309
Cute, Bob
What I have experienced in life is that those who are fools in
April usually do an excellent job of being fools the other
eleven months of the year.
Site change had to take a lot of work,eh. Very well done.

Bob is cool!!
That POS SI Jeff, he's UFB!
One biased MF'er is he!!
I don't even read SI anymore.
Glad you found it.
Now we can form an alliance and move on to greener pastures.
I'm starting new camera development tonight. I'll see if I can stream this live....
details to follow.
Hey,
I finally found my id. (lost my wallet)
I second that motion.
He is a gentleman with integrity and fairness we can all learn from.

wrong thread, sorry.
OK, I'm going to dishonor myself here, but....
one good thing bob has done for the site is rid of spam. he does a great job at that, and i've seen a very high increase in spam within the last week.

Oh my willth it menDS ...

Now someone is soppose to post and claim a SI grub at this two hundred post. Then these SI people run to one of the many grub hall of fame threads and proudly boast of their feat.
I got the SI playbook the last time the circus came through town.
Does a kid who just graduated from Wharton B. School (and actually believes he knows his ass from a hole in the ground) come out now and tally the votes?
This SI stuff is killing me.
You're breakin' my heart, Gary. -g
This is on topic and should be carefully reviewed by everyone. Bob got Kudos on these two posts. I think if given enough time he will show he is not trying to recreate SI here.

BADBOB,
Aw, don't try to pull the wool over my eyes with that wordy explanation! Every bleating heart OED-phile knows it's "zealously".
If you think I'll slink sheepishly away from this one, ewe're wrong. I'm right and there ain't mutton you can say about it.

It's my great pleasure to point out the misuse of the word "jealously" in your post. A grand and rare pleasure, as a matter
of fact.
The word "zealously" is the generally used adverb in that context.
I would expect it to be a great pleasure to encounter a mistake in any of my missives that wasn't purely typographical or dyslexic, as it's a rare occurence, given how zealous I am about correct use of the language, including punctuation.
But you'll have to seek that pleasure elsewhere, as I believe that either word would have been correct in that sentence, but "jealously" was the intended word, and the one that fully conveyed the intended message.
http://www.dictionary.com/cgi-bin/dict.pl?term=jealous
1.Fearful or wary of being supplanted
4.Vigilant in guarding something
5.Intolerant of disloyalty or infidelity; autocratic

Taken in the context of the sentence that immediately followed it, I meant basically that no members of the site whose names don't appear on my paycheck can "oust" me, though some would apparently love to.

I agree with you at a certainly level. I believe that jenna has the right to keep us miscreants off of her thread. For whatever reason. I do not believe that she needs to justify it. Since Market Gems is a commercial venture operating on the message boards, I believe that there has to be a forum where it can be scrutinized. This is relevant whether it is iHub or SI. Right now, if you start a thread that is specifically to hold the magnifying glass over market Gems, it is promptly deleted. If Market Gems is not willing to allow a thread to exist that puts them under scrutiny, then I do not believe that Market Gems has the right to keep us miscreants off of the main thread.
does that make sense?
Immediately Humble Unto Bob (new thread)
while we are promoting boards, i will throw you guys this one. I need 2 directors to help me who are not in favor of Bob. please PM me.

I have the solution to your wallet problem.
For now........First ID is free. All others are $20 a pop. Wouldn't this solve your problem with IHUB charging?
My question to you is serious and I really would like your opinion.

You can take you complaints to the CoB or the director(s) and if that doesn't get a result then you can take it to Admin...so "the citizens" still get to have say.
You are 100% on target. The bottom line is that everyone who posts on IHUB and follows TOU gets an evenhanded decision from IHUB Admin. If a chairman starts a thread, which is noncompliant with TOU, then that chairman is liable and can be held accountable.

So, is this an honor system? How does the director know if you really posted on a stock board? I understand why you wouldn't want to..might get a lot of people that don't belong there and just coming over to pester you.
Now, I'm giving myself a warning...I posted here in the 6:00-12:00 time slot and didn't make a stock related post in that same period. Had nothing of value to post at that time and then I fell asleep. I'm covered this time slot....already made my posts.

Post #1 (lots o' market-relateds on the OBOX this AM)
The iHub model is more like our own government except that the citizens don't get to vote.
Doesn't this negate the concept of a self-policing community? How can a community be considered self-policed if only a minority of the people are in charge of the policing and the citizens don't have any say in who those people are?
I would think this would be a recipe for a system that is massively corrupt. I'm sure that was not the intention behind the concept but you must consider human nature.
Lola:)
In the case of SI you had at one time Bob being the single policeman acting to govern the entire SI community, a task that even Bob will likely admit was near impossible to do. I’m sure his workload was huge.
That's part of the issue that CoB addresses for me, but not all of it.
To continue with your government analogy, on SI I was the King rather than the Fed Government. It was, as I'd described it before publicly, a "benign dictatorship".
It's automatically assumed by nearly everyone on the planet that anybody in a role of dictatorship likes being in that role and jealously guards it.
Not the case. I filled that role because that was the model for the site (we hadn't thought of this model) and if I wanted to benefit the site, that was the role that was available. Arguably fine, since it was a benign dictatorship.
But I wasn't happy with it.
Revisit the 3D-world dictatorship analogy. Or even the old monarchies. I suspect the King's life wasn't all featherbeds and caviar. As the only legal authority in the land, he had to decide the outcome of every disagreement. One minute he's deciding the sentence for an accused murderer and the next he's deciding what to do about someone's sheep trampling someone else's flowers. And every morning, there's a long line of these cases waiting for his personal attention.
Yuck!
And the 2D version doesn't even get a featherbed and can't afford caviar. And the concubines *still* haven't shown up.
The iHub model is more like our own government except that the citizens don't get to vote. Someone *owns* this particular country and decides who's the president. But there are no immigration/emigration laws aside from the Terms of Use. The citizens vote with their citizenship.
In this model, I don't have to deal with sheep treading on flowers. I just handle the bigger things. Each township has people who deal with trampling tups.
I like this model not only because it should *dramatically* reduce my workload (eventually), but because I don't have to be the only person making every single judgment call.
HA!
and who said you couldnt be funny

Seemed there was a lot more dinging going on over at SI by lots of people for lots of things...
I am still working on my reply to the car salesman/car purchasing analogy. (it does not work for me)
Seems to be just a matter of who's head is on the chopping block at the present moment!
This is 1.
<edit 1>(btw...if I post my link to my stock related comment after my 10 minute edit window.....does that count as another reply and do I then need to make another stock related post.....(could be come a vicious circle!!!))
<edit 2>Note to Poet. Thanks for backing me up here the other day. I appreciated it. But I must say when I read the reply Joemoney posted to me.....asking if I was "Bob's attorney" I honestly burst out laughing. Seems to me, that my post must have made some sense regarding the fact that it didn't matter who or how many elections were held to determine who should or should not be IHub administration, because the only retort they had for me, was to ask if I was Bob's attorney!! Felt like victory to me!!!
<edit 3>Note to Bob......don't forget to put the check in the mail for my services...<wink>
What rant?

It was Patti Smith, original punk rocker, artist, friend of the late Robert Mapplethorpe. She's now 53 and she was great. the consummate rocker.

Patti Smith... At first I thought of the artist from the 80's, but I think that's Patti Smyth (you know "bang bang I am the warrior!"). She opened for Styx a couple years ago. Did you enjoy her show?
I am child of the 80's in case you can't tell. Did I tell you about the Pac Man machine I'm restoring in my garage?

PS Thanks for the praise.
