recording date is 11th
You mean the "record date" was the 11th of May? Then you will probably not get it because you need to have bought it before the ex-dividend date, not the record date. The ex-divy date was probably on the 7th - the day before you purchased it. If the 7th was the date you would have needed to buy it as late as the 6th.
I bought a stock today and the settlement day is the 13th. The stock pays a dividend and the recording date is 11th and payable on the 15th do I get the dividend. Thank you in advance for your help.
thanks for the help it is greatly appreciated =)
I rarely trade pinks anymore so I don't really scan for them. There are way too many other "good" companies out there trading on the nasdaq that are affordable right now. At this point, I don't need to trade these bloated quasi-companies who need to hire promo people to get their stock moving temporarily so that they can dump it. My scans for nasdaq are based on price and low os companies. Sometimes I will come a across a pink and like the volume, level II and the os and trade it intraday. I recently traded trxx and grdo, but that is the extent to my recent pink trading. All my other trades are usually nasdaq at the moment.
I think what I'm asking is What parameters do you consider successful when looking for pinks.
What does YOUR screener look like.
I can find the screener but I don't know what to put in it.
Etrade has something called strategy planner. YOu can set up a strategy for pinks only and decide for yourself what perimeters you want to put in there such as maximum price, minimum price, % up, % down, moving averages, etc. There are plenty of other companies who have these scanners - don't know if your broker does, but there are free ones such as this:
http://www.trade-ideas.com/StockInfo/_ScreenerConfig.html
just make sure you toggle pinks at the bottom
I would appreciate if anyone can help me with building a good stock screener for pinks. Where do I find one and what do I put in it when I get there. TIA
I can pretty well read charts and screen for big stocks but pinks seem to be a different breed and I'm not exactly sure how to anticipate a move.
So, they are filtering out all their X trade, heh? lol
It's alphatrade. The show X as canceled and F as filtered, which I never heard of. The trade was listed as XF.
Thanks.
XF trade? Never heard of it. I know what an X trade is. That means they removed the trade. But XF? Who's the service you use that listed it that way?
I've heard of T trades (after hours) but does anyone know what an XF trade is? I had one occur today on a stock I own for 50k during trading hours, and there was also a 25k T trade after hours. I have never seen a T trade on this stock before and I've been watching for about 6 months.
Thanks!
Maybe you should change it so that anyone could post a question.
Thanks cintrix. Taxes board is Premium; Free Users are welcome to reply to this post with any questions.
I have had it happen to me many times too. NOt sure of the reason. Maybe it is just a mm that we can't see representing.
Fills below my bid and then above my ask...
What are the reasons this would happen? I'm not complaining. This has just never happened before and I'm just wondering how this could happen several times with the same stock.. In four days I have flipped 3 times and every time I get filed below my bid and above my ask.
I rarely invest - I am a trader so someone else would have to offer you help on that one.

I don't think it was the ticker that was similar. The other company had their ticker as part of their name: "The new name more clearly distinguishes the company from FBR Capital Markets (Nasdaq: FBCM)."
Sometimes it can be a hassle with the broker when they change the name and ticker if it requires that the broker get new shares from the transfer agent. I had one once that did a name change and it took months to get the new shares. Meanwhile the stock had gone up a lot and I couldn't sell my shares because I wasn't in possession of the new shares. By the time I got them it had already come down in price. There isn't always a share exchange - so you would have to find out how they are handling it.
Other than ACAS, where can I find additional high paying dividend stocks that pay very high in order to maintain their tax free status?
is there a board on iHub where i can ask a tax question? tia
Hello, what effect would a name and ticker change have on a stock? FBR appears to be doing ok, but due to having a similar ticker to another company, they are changing.

Well, for one thing you can check the filing. If it is a pink it is a guessing game. One way of "assuming" is if there is a lot of buying at the ask and the price just sits there and doesn't uptick. Regarding the float, it all depends on what kind of stock you r trading. For instance, I like to trade nasdaq beaten down companies with outstanding shares under 60M that price under a buck. But I would never expect a penny stock (.01-.05) or subpenny stock with an os that low. It is all relevant to what you are trading. Sometimes u may find an os that is larger than what u want but the restricted is also large which would make it a smaller float. There is basically no set rule on that. It all depends on what your personal criteria are.
How can you tell a company is dilluting for just a bunch of people selling? Also what constitutes a good float?
Especially with pinks, it could be that it is run up prior to news and the old adage "buy on rumor, sell on news" kicks in. Also with pinks, sometimes they are so heavily diluted, that even news like a cure for cancer can't jump start them.
When stocks, mainly pinks, have good PRs why does the PPS continue to decline?
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Hi, if a company is a reporting company but does not trade publicly what form does it file to start trading publicly? Thanks.
Sorry I found one on the site of the broker I use. Spoke before looking deeper.
Is there any site that a person can get level II quotes at a delayed time span for free. I would like to see the buys and sells for a stock.I don't day trade so it's not important to be real time. I only found this board as of today and I've already learned a few things. I want to thank you for being here and answering all the questions.
bill
rotf I've done things like that myself.
jeeze, i've only been on that site about 10,000x. i guess finding that slipped under the radar. thanks much !!!!
Go to pinksheets.com and put the ticker in and use the company info tab.
good afternoon everyone.... any link/site to ascertain how many shareholders there are in any arbitrary company? thanks much in advance !!
It all depends on the mm and what might be going on. Sometimes a mm is on the ask because they have a huge amount to unload - when you see it move off the ask you can guess that that mm is done selling.
Large gaps between the b/a often happen with thinly traded stocks.
That's right. PInk has nothing to do with how long you hold it. If you have a margin account you can buy and sell pinks and not have to worry about Reg T.
No, not that I know of, as long as you have the funds to cover the next buy there should be no restrictions.
Question: If one sells a pink stock, do you have to wait 3days(trade to clear) to buy another pink stock? TIA
As far as penny stocks go, dividends can be very shaky ie the company never delivers the divs, you get the divs in restricted shares and it cost you more to unrestricted them then their worth. Basically they can do that because in most cases it does not effect them... There are some rare cases where you get a div in unrestricted shares and can sell once they hit your account. I have like 10k in divs for a stock trading at .0001, would cost me 150.00 = 250.00 depending on the broker to unrestricted $1 in shares.
Hi, Is this the place to get wisdom, knowledge, etc..
On my etrade ticker what does it mean when:
PERT leaves offer
PERT leaves bid
VERT leaves offer
VERT joins bid etc.
I think I know these are the MM's either offering to buy or sell at the ask or bid (is that correct) and if it is what does it mean to me as an investor watching their activity? The price and time is given but no volume. Also are their any good understandable books that explain this stuff you could recommend.
Next what accounts for such large gaps between ask and bid sometimes. I saw one at .13ask .03bid. One needs a 400%+ move to just break even?? Can anyone shine light on this for me.
TIA
Can anyone answer this dumb question on dividend stocks ? I was reading that you can buy a dividend stock and hold it for one day, then sell it the next day (ex-dividend) date and collect the dividend. As long as your on the companies "record date", you will recieve the divy. Why would a company pay a "investor" a stock dividend if there only holding the stock for a day ? And why isn't everyone in the whole world doing this ? We could be buying dividend stocks and be making a killing ! What am I missing here ?
"You must only own the stock one-day to be entitled to receive the dividend payment."
Heres the info :http://ex-dividend.com/howitworks.html

can someone explain "ask slapping" and why it's so important on momentum moves? Thanks
Ask slapping refers to folks buying at the ask - versus trying to buy at bid or in between the bid and ask. Buying at the ask is more likely to dry up the stock and cause an uptick....hence the momentum reference.
Exactly. My big rook guess, is someone (thru a MM i guess) negotiates a large block so they can buy a chunk or two without driving up the price during the normal days range. But they are still paying a premium and the day started out at 0108 I think..
Well that can't be that repurchase agreement because it was supposed to be a discount of the current price per share - that is not discount. lol
good Friday cintrix,
here are those interesting large blocks we discussed...I think the 6 out of last 8 fridays it has happened, total about 80M shares...you think some type of accumulation as to not drive the price up?

Tracy,
I am not that savvy on BK proceedings. I do know that the commons are usually wiped out in most cases. You can read the sec explanation here:
http://www.sec.gov/investor/pubs/bankrupt.htm
Hi There can anybody explain how a company can ignore the assets that belong to the common shareholders and cancel the common shares when a company emerges from chapter 11
I understand a company that is insolvent and has no Net tangible or intangible asset value canceling the common shares but what if there are assets? take for instance Htmxq of which I have 431,900 shares. I keep hearing that the shares will be worthless when they emeerge from bankruptcy how is this possible? In this case there is 222.9M in net assets after they pay off the debt. I am confused based on the rule of absolute priority the creditors are paid first then the bond holders then the preffereds and then the common. The majority of the debt is with one company (line of credit) there are no bond holders and no prefferds.
Under what authority can they just ignore the asset value to the common shareholders? What happens in case of a buyout can they play games there as well If anyone knows the answewrs or where I can learn about this...need help bad
Tracy
Looks good!
I'm getting tired *yawn* as well
