Paulee - Ranger was the 'Oreeno' man. Mickey was more on a '$200 price range' buy.
Ask price is 90.28 at 46,000 shares.
Oreeno 90 again…done
WE CRACKED THE $90 Oreeno barrier, even though only briefly!
Lets make another run at it later in the day.
Someone(s) knows something!

“I have generally been a large buyer of IDCC calls in the past.”
I’m not smart enough to figure out how to make consistent money by buying options. Selling them seems to make more sense to me.
jealmc79, My $135. has to do with my calculations. It could go higher due to a short squeeze. I also believe that IDCC will continue to spend the rest of the money in their buyback. That should put the share count below 24.5M. That could be why the insiders have not been selling this year. I am happy with the option market in IDCC. I have generally been a large buyer of IDCC calls in the past. I still have some calls for Friday and next month but nothing after that as they are getting too expensive. When the 2024 notes come due it is almost a non event as the are hedged to $125.
Thanks. I assumed they just used the estimate figured from their last years tax return and wouldn’t have to pay taxes until next April 15. Either way it looks like they are not expecting the stock price to go down. I guess it helps when you have control of any company buybacks to know that. How did you come up with $135? Just a guess or back of napkin math? Even at $135 that’s only a 50% return from here. Good if it happens soon, but I know of better prospects, with even better options plays. Also, what happens when the 2024 notes come due?
Oreeno complete! EOM
To clarify , they have to make their estimates in the quarter they get their shares. In this case on June 15.
Jealmc79, They have to make quarterly estimates. I too have been selling puts for the last 30 years, but I have not sold the calls as I believe that the stock will go to $135 or more one day.
surely you jest. When was the last time you knew an employer who determined your raise because you have to pay tax on it. These dolts are overpaid for the underperformance that they watch over. This stock is lower now than it was in 2016, and that's not even counting inflation. How much have then been paid over those 8 years, not counting their taxes.
“The "gift shares" will cost them about $70K federal tax and $0 to $20K state tax depending where they live. This is why they usually sell half or more to pay their taxes.”
So, since I haven’t been able to find an answer yet from googling, do they immediately have to write a check for that tax or can they wait till April 15 of next year? I guess if they have some inside information, like a buyout coming soon or another auction buyback it would make sense that they would take all the shares and profit from that info.
“As to you selling covered calls against your stock there is only one person to blame or be happy with....””
Gee, thanks for the condescension. Been selling covered calls and selling puts on this stock for years. Made more money doing that than what little I missed on this run. Most years it was the only way to make a return on this investment. You win some, you lose some. Don’t know that how I feel about it is anybody else’s business. I know there are a lot of long timers here yet and I’m happy they are seeing this finally starting to pay off for them.
jealmc79, The "gift shares" are taxable as ordinary income. Most people on the board are in maximum bracket, The "gift shares" will cost them about $70K federal tax and $0 to $20K state tax depending where they live. This is why they usually sell half or more to pay their taxes. Also the "gift shares" are valued at the current stock price when they are "gifted". As to you selling covered calls against your stock there is only one person to blame or be happy with....
Took the words right out of my mouth. Then they won't even answers questions at an annual meeting. They limit you to two, and won't allow any follow-ups to the piss poor answers that they give. it should be a private company
The shares were given to them. Am I the only one that believes the directors are way overpaid and there’s way too many of them? 9 directors, given $185,000+ of free shares. What do they do to deserve that kind of compensation? Been in this stock 26 years and never understood this. Sorry for bumming’ on everybody’s parade here. Good luck to the longs here. I’m about to be called out of the last of my last shares here and don’t know if it makes sense to get back in. At least they were generous enough to give us lowly shareholders our token $.35 dividend. smh
Something has to pop, 3M in short interest and Form 4 with acquisitions instead of sales. JMWT
Yes and Mikey and LaRanger would have agreed.
valuation, if IDCC can earn 5-6ps over next 3-4 yrs with a 40% growth rate by adding new licensing extentions in AI and IoT---20x is conservative so 100/S is pretty forseeable --and they reduce share count by 10% that ads to acretion of earnings---
oh boy....i guess that block of shares was taken out emphatically!!
LOL, our CEO's answers are short and to the point. My old man was like that. He would answer no before I could get my questions out. I used to think he was a bit whacky but, in the end, I have to admit he was right.

Board of Directors has declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.35 per share on its common stock, payable on July 26, 2023, to shareholders of record at the close of business on July 12, 2023.
I want to thank whoever contributed the shares
50 minutes until close someone has a 46,500 sell on the 87.30. We will see if it can push through...

tnyellowtomcat, I think company xyz is too cheap so I go long. You think it is too expensive so you go short. In the case of IDCC B of A relied on quants so they shorted it starting at $62. It went down due to market conditions to $40. B of A looked brilliant. At no time did the B of A analyst understand that IDCC had $40 in cash and the company was predicted to make $3 per share this year. Then the company started to aggressively buy back stock through a Dutch Auction. B of A said after they spend their money it will sink again. Then the company blindsided them by winning an award through a court case. ( even though litigation is updated every quarter.) At this point B of A analyst decided to look into the company and understand what they actually do and what they have. Now B of A says buy because the company is undervalued and the quants have no clue...
WHY does IDCC even have shorts!??
That is insane!!

No worries here whatsoever. We will be heading to new highs near term and I am not getting off of this 30+ year ride.
Fish21049, maybe you should read the filings a bit closer. They were form 144's. Form 144's are to sell some restricted stock sometime in the next 90 days. They do not have to sell, but insiders must file 144's in order to sell. They can expire and then they just refile.
I see that 4 insiders already sold shares. I wonder if others will follow. I always thought that when Insiders sold, it was usually near the very top of the price and the stock then declined shortly thereafter. Let's see if this trend continues over the next few days. I hope others hold their awards.
So, did anyone on this board listen in and call in any questions at the ASM?
vegas options - Thank you for submitting the AI question. EOM
Is the shareholder meeting still going on? Any word if the bought back any more shares?
aadlen, I am the one that asked about AI. I am very happy with the response. I also asked about potential interest on Lenovo as they have an additional $40M to recognize and I am hoping for interest at about $25M. That would be a landmine for the shorts as it would be another $2 per share. I was limited to 2 questions so I did not get to ask other questions.
here's a little chart ....just for sh8ts and giggles

I misplaced my control numbers so no go for me.
“Interdigital has substantial AI patents” Quote from Annual meeting...
and they limit you to only 2 questions
I would like someone to ask when are they going to raise the dividend?
Anyone have a question they would like asked, as the meeting is going on now
The webcast of today's Annual Stockholders Meeting does provide an opportunity to submit questions.

Moderators |
The principle objective of the iHub message boards is to maintain a high signal-to-noise ratio while encouraging the exchange of all points of view. Moderators are an important part of making our message boards beneficial to all participants and readers. Moderating a stock-specific board, particularly those which are controversial due to many divergent perspectives or newsworthy events, can be a challenging and time consuming role. The time and effort expended by our Members who volunteer their time to fulfill this valuable role is greatly appreciated and our Moderators should be treated with the respect they deserve for donating their time and efforts to the collective benefit of our community. Company-specific boards are the lifeblood of iHub. The Moderators' role is simple to define for company-specific boards:
To promote the civil exchange of on-topic dialog that complies with the Investors Hub Terms of Service. |
It is no accident that neither the above definition nor the Terms of Service makes mention of investment sentiment, shareholder interests, or considerations such as "the good of the company." That is because the TOS are blind to investment sentiment. In order to be a successful Moderator and conduct a board within the scope of iHub's TOS, it is critical that Moderators distinguish their role and privileges as Moderator from their role and privileges as a posting Member. That is often easier said than done, particularly on active boards with both the typical and atypical controversy.
If a post does not fit into any of these categories the post must not be removed.
Some posts fall into a "gray" area and are borderline depending upon the way they are read. As inclusion is favored over exclusion, please err or the side of not removing posts if they are not clear violations. Please use the "Report TOS Violation" button at the bottom of the post with your comments if the post is not egregious in nature and Site Admins will review the message.
Bottom line: Please use your best judgment in removing posts based on the above guidelines and let us know if you have any questions or need any help. And keep in mind that post removal and non-removal have to be given the same emphasis. It is not permissible, for example, to remove a post that calls someone a "pumper" while not also removing a post that calls someone a "basher". Investor sentiment, including your own, can NOT be part of the removal/non-removal decision.
