shaolin, I just find it interesting that older people who are patriotic, are also racist. That's just what I observe.
Joe --- You bigot. Have you got enough sense to realize that the very thing that you are accusing others of, you are guilty of? Does having an American flag as a signature offend you? Would a sickle and crescent make you feel more at home? My guess is you are just too young and dumb to know what you are saying. Either that or you just want to stir things up a bit. If you actually believe what you post, you have to be the biggest idiot to ever walk the face of this planet. Be sure and tell mommy or Matt that the big boys aren't playing nice with you. RAP = CRAP minus - C and any talent. ~ shao
You know, isn't it ironic that you're attacking rap music, and you have that American flag and gun in your signature? I bet you're from the south too.
It is racist people like you who degrade America and make it what it is. You make me sick, and you're now banned from this thread. Any further post you make will be deleted.
Joe - Yeah, I guess it will make 100 - at this rate, that will occur approximately April 2004.
Not bad, huh?
GP100357
I don't attack people, I'm just refutting his point. Yes, insults may take place, but it's all part of a good discussion. It's called "Heated Debate." It's better than just sitting around with no motivation to post.
Think it will ever make 100 posts????
Oh yes. There are always people want to attack rap music.
We're already up to post 14!
JoeMoney - I see you are still around withabsolutely no other purpose or reason other than picking fights huh... Start a board, and immediately start personally insulting your posters...
yep, you continue to show me just how mature you really are!
Good luck with THIS board Joe. Think it will ever make 100 posts????
GP100357
You'd be surprised at my maturity.
Joe; I noticed the one point that you avoided again was the maturity issue. When you get your first wisker maybe you wll be able to converse with the 'grown-ups' with out feeling inferior. Until then may I suggest nick.com ?
A person does not have to consume an entire pile of manure before he realizes that it tastes like what it is.
False logic to prove a point? Hey, you're not NW, are you?
You may not like Eminem but he is rap. It may not be what you call rap, but none-the- less, he is rap.
He is not rap because he is not accepted by the rap community. He is POP music. Rap stays around, pop fades in and fades out. He will too, like Vanilla Ice.
A person does not have to fully experience something to form an educated opinion.
Yes they do. They have to experience the bulk of it. You obviously haven't.
Slappin' yur beetch, Ho's, pay back messages and etc. are all good reasons to listen to rap, I guess.
That ALONE, tells me that you haven't experienced rap music and have only listen to a SMALL percentage of the music. Rap music sends more positive messages than any other type of music. Yes, some of it is bad, but MOST of it is good. A lot of the messages are satires, and a lot are hidden.
People like you (white, middled aged) listen to rap music expecting to hear something bad. They hear the word "gang" or whatever one time, and they automatically think it's bad, despite what else may be in the music.
Your definition of a positive song is different than what a positive song really is. Most rap songs send political messages, not family oriented messages. You are too ignorant to see that.
Joe;
The problem I have with critics like you is, that you don't actually listen to the music!
It seems that you have a problem with anyone who does not agree with you. A person does not have to consume an entire pile of manure before he realizes that it tastes like what it is.
I bet you think Eminem is rap music, well it's not.
I believe that you are wrong, again. You may not like Eminem but he is rap. It may not be what you call rap, but none-the- less, he is rap. Sugar Hill would not be considered rap by many, but the fact is they helped get it started. Just because the music is a little different does not make it not a part of the style. Fans of Elvis and Buddy Holly had very little in common with Beetles and Stones fans, but the fact is It was all Rock & Roll.
. I would bet, you've listened to less than 5 non-radio songs in your life. Don't judge something unless you've fully experienced it.
You would loose, yet again. I have probably forgotten more music than you have heard in your life. I have always been open to new styles and kept an open mind. A person does not have to fully experience something to form an educated opinion. He simply has to have enough facts, common sense and enough guts to make up hs own mind if he likes something instead of just going along with the crowd.
rap music is great to listen to and sends a positive message. Most people like you have a pre-set thought in their head that rap music is bad listening, and sends a bad image, so when you listen to a song, no matter what you're going to think it's bad. I guess it's people like you and Dan Quayle, who put a negative image on the most positive people.
We have all seen the 'positive' messages that rap sends. Slappin' yur beetch, Ho's, pay back messages and etc. are all good reasons to listen to rap, I guess. As far as comparing me to Dan Quayle, if that was an insult, none was taken. There are are a lot worse people I figure that I could have been compared to.
In conclusion, my opinion of rap means nothing. Neither does yours'. Beng mature enough to understand that everone does not agree with you and that music is to be appreciated by the listener is what it is about. My remarks were made to a person that shared a like opinion of rap that I do. You chose to interrupt the grown ups with your 'hissey fit'. If you have a different opinion than those in the discussion, please ease yourself into the conversation or at least stay out of it. With all due respect ~ shao
Matt, RE: "I absolutely detest rap music",
I second that! I would comment further, but there is no point!
ET
shaolin, The problem I have with critics like you is, that you don't actually listen to the music! You hear 10 seconds on the radio, and you think it sucks, so you dub the entire industry as horrible music.
I bet you think Eminem is rap music, well it's not. That's is where most people get their bad image of rap. HIM. I hate Eminem. I would bet, you've listened to less than 5 non-radio songs in your life. Don't judge something unless you've fully experienced it. I've listened to perhaps a thousand rap/hip hop songs of all different types, and I've came to the conclusion that rap music is great to listen to and sends a positive message. Most people like you have a pre-set thought in their head that rap music is bad listening, and sends a bad image, so when you listen to a song, no matter what you're going to think it's bad. I guess it's people like you and Dan Quayle, who put a negative image on the most positive people.
Matt: You couldn't be more wrong.
What I mean by that is using 'rap' and music in the same sentence. The earlier stuff like Sugar Hill and others had a musical quality. Most of it today, doesn't. ~ shao
I do like Nelly.
It will grow on you. Trust me... =)
Or maybe you're a closet rap fan? LOL
I absolutely detest rap music.
Just sounds like crap from the start. Let alone the lyrics.
But!
I do make one exception. I do like Nelly. Don't ask me why. Just something about his music that cool and easy to listen to.
Now back to my country music station.
BTW Again, I just noticed, this is the 1000th thread created on iHub. Kewl.
Did I mention, Rap also has some great Paaarty beats. It's not all seriousness. Actually about 75% or so is party type music.
I think this thread will come in great use, if the problem should ever arise that some narrow minded Republican house wife decides to blurt out that Rap is bad for society and vents a negative message.
Perhaps people need to start thinking outside their sheltered lives and learn a bit about reality. Rap does that. It gets you in tune with reality, unlike other types of music, like county, which only puts you off in your own personal "la la land" where you can dream about horses and home-cooked meals in rural Texas.
Sorry if I offend anyone, but if this offends you, I can say that your ignorance offends me and very much so degrades society.
I guess you could say that this is a political thread too. =)
Joemoney
BTW, I also like Classical & Oldies. My music selection is indeed diverse.
