The Litecoin cryptocurrency is a fork of the Bitcoin codebase that was positioned as “a silver to Bitcoin’s gold.” It was created by former Google and Coinbase engineer Charlie Lee in 2011.
While similar to Bitcoin in terms of tech and monetary policy, even featuring its own periodic halving of its supply schedule, Litecoin features some core changes such as block times that are four times longer and a supply cap that is four times as large compared with BTC.
One key technical difference Litecoin has with Bitcoin is its mining algorithm, Scrypt, which makes it easier for users to generate hashes with commonly available hardware and participate in the mining process.
In June 2017, Charle Lee left his position at Coinbase to commit to Litecoin full time and is currently head of the Litecoin Foundation, which stewards and finances Litecoin ecosystem development.

TIME Magazine Joins Tesla in Holding Bitcoin, Will Make Crypto Video Series
TIME Magazine plan to make a educational video series on crypto and will accept Bitcoin as payment.
APR 12, 2021
Michael Sonnenshein, the CEO of Grayscale, announced today via Twitter that TIME Magazine has partnered with Grayscale to create a new educational crypto video series. The series will be made by the nearly 100-year-old publication and is set to come out this summer.
TIME, as well as TIME's president Keith Grossman, will be paid in Bitcoin and the company will continue to hold Bitcoin on its balance sheet. The company will now join the likes of MicroStrategy (MSTR), Tesla (TSLA), Square (SQ) and others who hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets as a store of value assets.
Three weeks ago the company posted a job for a new CFO. The job post asked for "comfort with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies" in its list of qualifications showing that the company may have already had some intention of Bitcoin exposure in the near future.
TIME also recently sold three of its covers as NFTs, showing further involvement in the crypto industry.
TIME represents the first legacy media brand that will hold Bitcoin, and many are wondering what the implications of this move are.
This news led to some speculation on whether or not other companies owned by Marc Benioff, like Salesforce (CRM), would consider having Bitcoin on its balance sheet too.
While Benioff has not been vocal about Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies, he has expressed his stance indirectly when he invested in Chainalysis, a blockchain analysis company, through his investment fund, TIME Ventures.
Though his investment in Chainalysis is not evidence that Salesforce would hold Bitcoin on its balance sheet like TIME, the investment is an indication that he has faith in the crypto industry's future.

Again...It is because bitcoin is now the dominant crypto (out of 5 cryptos in GDLC shares) both percent-wise and price-wise. If/when one or more of those 3 tiny 1% allocation cryptos, that are a part of GDLC share now, get 10-15 fold price increase we will be able to see a significant increase in price of GDLC. And, with what we know about these three small cryptos, the significant price impact of them on GDLC will only be a matter of time. IMO
Lol yes I know that and thats what it supposed to do. However the price seem to only moves when bitcoin move not when ETh or the other coin moves.
Price does not only reflect bitcoin. I don't remember exactly but it is roughly 83% bitcoin, 14% ETH, and 1% each of the rest 3 coins.
It is also about the price "weight". Right now, the price of the 3 other coins are very low compared to ETH or bitcoin.
Now, imagine if the price of chainlink or bitcoin cash or link go up 10-20 fold. Then, the price weight is going to significantly affect the price of one share of GDLC.
For example, if price of ETH goes up 6 fold, price-wise, it is going to have the same price impact that bitcoin has right now.
If the price of any of the last 3 coins that are each about 1% in GDLC go up 15 fold they are going to have the same price up movement that ETH has now in one share of GDLC.
And, of course, the price of bitcoin and ETH will keep going up too at the same time but, percentage-wise, less than the 3 small coins., I believe.
It is like having 5 horses in the race. Two are top regular winners but the other 3 have also a great chance of the win with higher prices
.
That is why GDLC is so popular. AIMO

Grayscale Adds $1 Billion in Bitcoin, Nears $50 Billion in Total AUM
Apr 11, 2021
As institutional interest increases, Grayscale added $1 billion worth of Bitcoin in barely 24 hours, increasing its total AUM to $46.1 billion.
Investment giant Grayscale recently added another $1 billion worth of Bitcoin in almost 24 hours. Now, the firm nears the $50 billion mark with $46.1 billion in total assets under management (AUM)
As reported by CryptoPotato recently, the investment firm increased its total AUM by more than $3 billion, shortly after expanding its crypto-trust offerings by adding five new tokens for their eligible accredited investors.
The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) accounts for $38.1 billion (82.64%) of Grayscale’s total AUM, while the Ethereum Trust (ETHE) accounts for $6.6 billion (14.26%). The remaining trusts, including Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin, account for the rest.
Notably, tokens such as Filecoin, Livepeer, Basic Attention token, MANA, and LINK saw a surge in price after Grayscale announced adding them into the list of offered trusts. The company expanded its total number of trusts to 14 after CEO Michael Sonnenshein explained they see many clients seeking exposure to more crypto assets.
