IT could get bought, but it is clearly under the radar of most investors. The others in Carlin area know the story well.
Cheap enough to ride it for several weeks, until they prove up their 43-101, and extend the proven ounces over another 8-16 months.
This could get taken out any time, but my guess is they will continue to prove up ounces and show the value on a larger scale before that happens.

bought some today because of this article.. any opinions here on a buyout possibility?? thx

Started a nice position here today, intent to load all week on AMEX. Great potential.
Hi...
New here. I have owned GSV for over one year. Good potential, so I don't watch it very closely. I don't mind the waiting game at all.
I just saw this report :
www.rockstone-research.de/research/RockstoneGSVupdate2english.pdf
. . . . . which re-awakened my interest. I apologize if it has already been posted. It will take me a while to get current with all of the posts on this Board.
I don't have lots of shares, but at a buck I will make some good money
Until2017
I for one do not plan on selling until they partner up or get bought out. I don't believe from what I've seen and read that they have any intentions on mining this themselves.
The last run gsv broke the $1.00 barrier, but didn't stay there for long. There is speculation that the next report is going to be positive--I'm curious if people here are planning on selling if it goes above a dollar or hold because the company does seem to be in a stronger position this time around. Also there seems to be a lot of chatter about M&A deals in this sector--would gsv let themselves be acquired, and if so, for how much? Approximation of course....
Thanks for posting.
"the gold-rich Carlin Trend in Nevada - home of the world's most significant gold deposits that made Newmont and Barrick what they are today: the largest gold mining companies of the world. "
That speaks to me.
" We met with former Newmont geologists John Norby, Mac Jackson and Steven Koehler. On May 30, it was made public that these 3 high-carat personalities are taking over the geological department of Gold Standard Ventures Corp. ("GSV")"
That makes me wonder if I bought enough....
I just found this press release on Marketwatch today. Drill results are expected any day...absolutely glowing report from Rockstone! I've also included the link to the full report after mw link. Of course it will depend on results but would anyone like to suggest a target?

Strong close on increasing volume.
Looking good.
If we get the results we are hoping for we'll see a nice run up.
This report says phase one of 13 drills in the pinion north and the main zone should be finished by the end of June. Perhaps a report in early July?

Any guess on how long before we hear news on the analysis of the cores?
NOTICE OF FINAL DECISION
http://ndep.nv.gov/docs_14/0329_dFY14.pdf
The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (Division) has decided to issue Reclamation Permit 0329, for an exploration project to Gold Standard Ventures Corporation (Permittee).
This permit authorizes the Permittee to reclaim the North Bullion Exploration Project located in Elko County, Nevada.
Agree, I loved the move of Dave Mathewson to Tanqueray. Makes that stock interesting in itself -- it's under 500,000 market cap, if I recall, but with Mathewson at the helm -- and should be a great asset to GSV if and when Mathewson succeeds there.
Plus, I like the CEO buying shares, and seemingly trying to make an effort to get this stock moving again
I see nothing bad in the release, its all positive. GSV shareholders still control 88% of the properties via shares, they installed Mathewson as CEO to ensure that its managed properly, and we have 150k in cash to prove up Pinion. Seems to me in a few short weeks/months we'll be over a buck and climbing.
The share price decline over the last few sessions was on low volume. I think smart traders are bidding low, waiting to see if it fills the gap before the next round of results are posted...
Good luck.
Bad timing- just when the stock was building momentum Dave Mathewson leaves...hopefully this is a short-lived hindrance!
Very nice report.
I added more today.
Thanks
Thanks for the info.
I think the catalyst could be from:
1. The interview in he Gold Report w Jon Awde -- a lot of good news reported
2. Rockstone initiated coverage in a 10 page report. Price target =C$2.80 in 6 months or sooner if it achieves stated goals.
http://www.rockstone-research.de/research/RockstoneGSV1english.pdf
3. Macquarie's mining analyst put a C$10.00 target within a year if it reaches stated drilling goals w in 9 months (+20 million oz) Thus making it ripe for M&A with a billion dollar valuation.
4. The aggressive insider buying (which I think you mentioned in an earlier post)
Hopefully gsv has finally turned a corner and will be able to break though $1.00 and continue an upward trend -- rather than retreat!
A $2.80 price target from Rockstone:
http://www.rockstone-research.de/research/RockstoneGSV1english.pdf
Very unusual. I wonder if the first bit of drilling encountered something unusual and word is leaking?
Interesting volume and price movement today.
Very optimistic interview with cofounder Jon Awde. He explains why the land is so valuable and how they were able to acquire it. Perhaps we may see some upward movement in the near future...

fyi that the newest newsletter of the latest calandra recommending the selling of GSV shares (at a loss) in order to buy shares of Angkor Gold and others that Calandra is hyping at the moment. Calandra's newsletter is a fun read (and free in delayed fashion via Stockhouse or ceo.ca) though am unsure about his overall intentions. (He certainly has overhyped Bitterroot, Gran Colombia and Solvista, IMO.) Since Brent Cook has also long ago recommended the selling of GSV (when stock was more than double current share price), not personally sure what "market makers" are thinking of it anymore. I seem to have a bias toward any company whose press releases are partly about the teaching of geology. I like Colorado Resources too (they're also struggling).
New press release is extremely optimistic, and should lift GSV whether or not the Russia/Ukraine issues escalate.
The insider buys continue. Expect the stock will start to push higher once press releases on the 2014 exploration program start getting released.
Anyone have a clue why the stock is getting particularly hammered today (and on heavy volume)? Is accumulation happening... or something else??
insiders are buying (go to Canadian Insider to verify):

Thanks.
FYI that the other "Carlin-like" play in the Yuko, ATAC Resources, has jumped from a 60 cent stock to over $1.30 on no updates (except a good Northern Miner article, more or less).
Once everyone gets a better sense of the Railroad Project, or else simply attributes the same optimism being accorded the ATAC project, this miner should have far greater room to run than simply 80-90 cents per share.
So far, the Pinon acquisition is only helping stocks of the seller (Scorpio Gold, which had more debt than market cap before the sale).
In time, it may prove a great deal for GSV.
Anyway, continue to watch this everyday. Made little sense that I announced when I sold, but I was a bit miffed by the press release with all the retractions (which has since become a press release also used by Scopio, and others; apparently a lot of oversight over miners and their websites are taking place).
Good luck to you.
Personally exited early (at 68 cents), as I didn't see a positive from the Monday press release. Still believe in the company, and Dave Mathewson, but felt the stock was not going to run based on Monday's press release for at least a few more days. If I'm wrong, can live with it.
Despite gold's exuberant 2014, actually focused on diversifying away from gold miners -- though still stuck on miners. Seem to have a lot of confidence in the analysts recommending Madelena Energy (oil) and Arianne Phosphate (phosphate). Both have shareholders which hate each of the respective stocks right now.
Anyway, best of luck to all.
New press release out -- lots of retractions, etc. This may end up much ado about nothing much, but it will likely bring down stock price (no matter how high gold rises today).
Also, the closing of Pinon is now scheduled for March 4.
Pinon acquisition expected to close by Feb 28 (tomorrow). The recent drilling success at Kinsley Mountain lifted Pilot shares 20 percent, and Nevada SUnrise shares over 140 percent, so there's hope a good drill season for GSV will help its shares do likewise.
With apologies, I have no idea, but personally not too concerned with what Scorpio does with its shares. When VISTA dumped 16 million MIDAS shares, it barely even dented MIDAS share price (unfortunately, as I wanted some discounted MIDAS), and whenever Van Eck makes huge dump of shares (Vista, ATAC, etc), it brings down share price so low that one is able to quickly make a double from such investments. Investing a few days in a stock after Van Eck dumps it (from GDX or GDXJ) may be a good strategy.
Still don't know what to think of the Pinon property, and would love to see some analyst speak about the GSV acquisition. I really like Dave Mathewson, so trusting him, but it sure seems like they paid a lot for a property that, according to Scorpio, was receiving no value from the markets. As the latest GSV press release states, the loan now closes this week, not in mid-March, so there's possibility it will start an upward move after this coming week.
Not sure how others are faring, but miners quickly made back the money I lost on them last year, and then some, so it's been a nice start to the year. Am personally respecting profits when they come, and, if I miss a jump in a stock I love, just assume I'll get another chance later.
Benandemmiboo--Thanks for your continued posts! This last post prompted me to go to gsv's site and do some reading. I reread the terms of the Pinon deal and it got me thinking about how all those shares could affect the price if they were immediately sold. It sounds like the initial 5.5 million will be under a 2 year lock up, but there doesn't seem to be any sort of restraints on the other 1.25 million shares. Am I reading this right? Or will these shares be issued under the same by laws as the original 5.5 or will they be able to sell the shares off as soon as the deal is completed? The latter would be an obvious concern.
Closing of Pinon is not until March 14. Methinks I was impatient to get back, and would have been smarter to wait until that date... They do have a PDF presentation about Pinon on the website now.
Still seems to me like they almost overpaid for the property, but if their hunch about it is correct, then it will likely be worth it -- particularly for those who wait until this thing prices in the financing.
Reinvesting at these levels. Have come to regard the Pinon acquisition as something which will offer GSV much more upside (an extra 25 percent in share price), so being able to buy shares 12 cents under its recent high seems like a good deal.
From here on out, plan to hold GSV too, as I don't expect future press releases to disappoint. Does anyone expect it to dip to sub-60 cent level again? Had hoped for this, but watching other miners rise while this does nothing makes it already feel like it's had its dip.

Once the poorly timed acquisition of the Pinion (?) property is finalized, this should be a nice-performing stock going forward. The other "Carlin-like" play in Yukon, Atac Resources, jumped over 50 percent in the last two weeks (partly thanks to a nice Northern Miner write-up), and I think GSV stock will greatly benefit by the drilling updates from Railroad and this new property going forward.
Not convinced they underpaid for this property -- but assume they are correct in thinking it improves GSV overall. Basically have a lot of trust in Dave Mathewson.
Spartan Gold has property right next to GSV. It got some financing thanks to some of the good drill results from GSV. Don't think GSV would buy them out, but you might be onto something.
Presuming this land acquisition delivers the results gsv is expecting, are there other plots of land that could further impede development? If so, does anyone know the company? Just thinking ahead -- in case another round of financing If not, what should we anticipate as the next obstacle or impediment to cause pause in getting that ticker to rise past .85-90 ?
Does anyone think they might be trying to slowly become a new mining behemoth!?!?
Please: I would love to hear ideas, theories estimates on share price after this deal settles? Anyone still think a buyout could happen? And if so at what price, what time frame and by whom?
It's encouraging that this last round was for .72. It's slowly crawling it's way up to a dollar.
Thanks!
The Pinion property comes with some dilution (hence the drop in prices right now), and perhaps the bottom for GSV PPS will be reached once this deal is priced in.
From there, expect the stock to find favor in a good gold market -- though it takes forever to get resource estimates on Carlin-style properties, and think that will keep GSV mostly a stock owned by insiders and hedge funds, etc, not by the retail investor who could really prop up the price.
GSV just expanded their property:
"In our view, acquiring the Pinion Deposit and completing the Railroad land position puts us firmly in control of one of the premier undeveloped land packages on the Carlin Trend. Our growing North Bullion Deposit exhibits the characteristics of a classical, large, higher-grade North Carlin-style occurrence," stated Jonathan Awde, President and CEO of Gold Standard. "Pinion provides us with a very different development option...a near-surface oxide deposit which would typically have a shorter path to development as well as lower capital and operating costs. We think this is a strategically important addition to our asset base in the current environment."
Upfront consideration for the acquisition will consist of cash payments of C$6,000,000 and 5,500,000 GSV common shares. Concurrent with the acquisition, Gold Standard has engaged a Canadian agent as lead agent and lead arranger to raise, by way of a best efforts private placement, a minimum C$8 million (the "Offering"), subject to an agent's option to increase the Offering by up to 15% until 48 hours prior to closing, to finance the acquisition of Pinion and for working capital and general corporate purposes. The Offering will be subject to certain conditions including the receipt of all necessary approvals including the approval of the TSX-V and the NYSE MKT."
The latest Calandra report was not "bullish-sounding", and suggested GSV would likely have to prove it can cheaply mine its resources, suggesting he thinks it may take a while before the stock advances hard...
Moved some funds as a result to ATAC Resources (the Yukon "Carlin" play); a recent article on NorthernMiner sold me on it, and I get the impression its stock has plummeted mostly because it's in the Yukon, and its mgmt chose to conserve cash rather than drill hard while gold was tanking.

Gold Standard Ventures acquired the Railroad District in 2009, and is now in the process of applying modern-day exploration techniques and models to discovering new gold deposits in this target-rich District. Carlin-style deposits are in evidence with about 150 thousand ounces of gold at 2+grams grade discovered from surface outcroppings and limited, previous shallow drilling. Targets below 400 to 500 feet remain undrilled and many targets obscured by structural complexity and cover have yet to be drilled. Gold Standard Ventures has identified several new target opportunities and is in the process of assessing these targets with both reverse circulation and core drilling.
