Way back when I spoke with Tripp, he mentioned a local guy who invested early on in SOON had a large block of shares Tripp and his dad were trying to buy back from the guy. Could be those shares.
All aboard! Last call for the train to Multi-dollars!
And the owners shares are tied up in the deal with McKay. Definitely looks like something good is happening behind the scenes....good for us!
Who has that many shares besides the owners? This looks like the shell is in the process of changing hands.
Holy Crap! Someone just moved an $80K order through as ONE block! Order went through at 21c while BID/ASK was showing 15 x 26....and the BID/ASK never moved.....
Seems like a buy from the controlling MM's personal "stash" of shares, as that kind of volume at the pps sold surely should have been visible on the BID.........something good may be up, I hope, for someone to absorb that many shares all at once.
Any Tripp updates? Is McKay still viable at this point? Not sure what to make of this one. Thanks
DesertXpress train aiming for March construction start
Official says 10,500 construction jobs possible with $4 billion project
By Richard N. Velotta (contact)
Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 | 12:21 a.m.
The leader of the effort to build the proposed DesertXpress high-speed train between Las Vegas and Southern California said his company has launched a worldwide search for vendors and suppliers so that construction on the $4 billion project could begin by the end of March.
Speaking at a forum at UNLV sponsored by the Transportation Research Center and the Ward 5 Chamber of Commerce, Tom Stone, president of DesertXpress, also said his project is the only financially viable high-speed train option, a dig at the American Magline Group’s proposed maglev alternative.
A representative of the California-Nevada Super Speed Train Commission, which backs the maglev project, said during a question-and-answer session at the forum that maglev backers are in the process of securing an environmental impact statement, a process DesertXpress completed in March. Richann Bender, executive director of the commission, said the maglev proposal is financially viable and that American Magline would make its point at a similar UNLV forum that has yet to be scheduled.
The format of Monday night’s forum enabled Stone to make a presentation about DesertXpress and answer questions from the 75 people in attendance. Organizers say similar forums are planned for the maglev project and for a pilot project for a hybrid system designed to declutter freeways with a maglev-supported vehicle shuttling system called SolaTrek.
But on Monday, the floor was Stone’s.
During his presentation, Stone added some details about the DesertXpress, which uses traditional steel-wheels-on-rails train service on a dedicated track that would be built primarily within the Interstate 15 right-of-way between Las Vegas and Victorville, Calif. Under the plan, 10-car trains with a capacity of 675 passengers would run both directions three times an hour at peak periods Fridays and Sundays and once an hour at off-peak times. The average fare would be $50 one way and the trip on the 150 mph train would take 84 minutes.
Stone said the backers of DesertXpress have refined their plan since 2002, focusing much of their efforts on the most controversial aspect of the proposal – making Victorville the southern terminus of the line.
Stone said the Victorville terminus is viable because all Southern California travelers to Las Vegas have to go through there, whether climbing north on I-15 over Cajon Pass or east from Palmdale, Calif. He said it would be too expensive to develop a route that would enable the train to climb the steep grade of the pass and right-of-way acquisitions farther south also would increase the cost.
DesertXpress backers say a rail link between Palmdale and Victorville eventually would make the system even more viable because California’s high-speed train proposal would use similar rail technology to run along the coast from Los Angeles and Orange County to Northern California through Palmdale. Asked if passengers would tolerate changing trains in Palmdale and Victorville, Stone said because the technology would be similar that the DesertXpress train could go all the way to Los Angeles and Orange County along that route and passengers wouldn’t need to change trains.
Other details disclosed at Monday’s forum:
• Stone said construction of the train would result in 10,500 construction jobs and 8,000 jobs indirectly related to the project.
• The company already has had positive feedback from California transportation officials about linking the DesertXpress with a California Department of Transportation bus feeder system to bring passengers from throughout Southern California to Victorville. Similar arrangements are being made to coordinate with Los Angeles’ Metrolink commuter rail system and, in Las Vegas, with the Las Vegas Monorail system.
• Stone said he expects it would take at least three years from when the system begins running to maximize the marketing potential of the line. But he said in the future, he could envision a high-speed train similar to DesertXpress linking to Phoenix.
• Although schedules haven’t been developed, Stone said he envisioned the train to operate between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., every day.
• The location of the Las Vegas station still hasn’t been determined, but there are four proposals incorporated in DesertXpress’ environmental impact statement. Alternatives include just west of I-15 near Mandalay Bay, just north of and just south of Flamingo Road, near I-15, and in downtown Las Vegas.
• While it’s not a part of the DesertXpress plan, Stone said it would be relatively easy to develop a half-mile spur off the main line near Primm to service the planned Ivanpah Valley airport.
• Asked what would happen if the proposal fails, Stone said he is confident that the line would be profitable even under the most pessimistic economic forecast but that if it did run into trouble, taxpayers would not be on the hook for construction bonds that are being financed privately. And, in a worst-case scenario, he said, the system could be sold to another operator.
• Stone also promised to follow all federal diversity guidelines when drafting contracts, a prime concern of the Ward 5 Chamber members present.

Desert Xpress: March Ground-Breaking?

The Las Vegas Sun covers remarks made by Tom Stone, president of DesertXpress, at a recent meeting in Las Vegas about the project. Among other things, construction of the proposed high-speed train--which'll go from Las Vegas and Victorville--could begin by the end of March. More: "Under the plan, 10-car trains with a capacity of 675 passengers would run both directions three times an hour at peak periods Fridays and Sundays and once an hour at off-peak times. The average fare would be $50 one way and the trip on the 150 mph train would take 84 minutes." [Las Vegas Sun]
Let's get on the TRAIN !!!!
The SOONer the BETTER !!!
Budget
Las Vegas News
Announce today that Mag Lav train is coming to Las Vegas and they have the MONEY.
I think REID rolled over.
.
.
What is the present float anyway?
Well who ever it was really wanted those shares...Guess we will see.
That seems to be quite prevalent on OTC plays.......volume before news. Maybe someone knows McKay finally got funded! Hope so!
Thats how it goes on this stock...LOW FLOAT..Shares are very scarce. I was here for the first run up to .32 or so and it came out of no where.
Anyone have an update from Tripp....Wow this moved up quickly.
Still here and holding...Something is about to happen and someone knew that this morning.
yes, it was at .26, L2 is moving all around. now there are 2 on ask at .30
I'm seeing .1250 x .30
Huge spread and not much volume.
But, stirring.
Nice! ASK uptick to 30c........maybe McKay is finally close to getting the Chinese funding he's been pursuing. I see Reid has now switched over allegiance to his project, Desert Xpress
bid at .26 now....
bid at .20 now...
Patience can be a virtue in the world of OTC
Pays to have GTCs in when there are dichotomies that can occur.
Yeap, all of 'em.........
Today's Completed Orders
Symbol Action Qty Acct Type Price Total
SOON BOUGHT 10000 MARGIN $0.10 $1,012.00
did you pick those 10s up, certainly a good deal IMO.
I suspect not many shares available below 35c, as most were sold above that, and its a very tiny float
Yes this will run with no warning at all..The float is so tight here with tick up in quarters almost.
I'm still accummulating.......I expect a major payoff this year
Not me still holding my initial stack...
Working CGCA yesterday and today, might bring some of those profits over here for a few more.
Thanks for the 10's this AM, whoever was the impatient one...by the looks of the ASK, perhaps it was just the one impatient soul......much better seeing it back in the 20's
I'd like to see it, for sure!
No shares under .20 cents. All I got was 367 that other day. Let's hope this finally comes to fruition..
Paint job perhaps on the close, but still nice to see share availability below 20c apparantly gone
Nice close.......cheapies may be gone.
Yes; filings show they have made no changes to share structure while waiting for McKay to complete the deal. With Reid now on board with Desert Xpress, it seems more and more likely the deal will be completed.
What's the o/s and a/s? Ibox still accurate?
bid coming up - looks like the few available at .12 were taken out. folks have obviously been holding tight - seems everyone has some faith something will happen here. hopefully find out very shortly. potential is huge
If you read the posts from earlier this week, you will see that Senator Reid has recewntly switched allegiance from the maglevel train over to Desert Xpress........the project that McKay has been backing, and is involved with. The company, per my telecom with them yesterday, fully expects to close the deal. I think it is only a matter of timing until SOON quuickly becomes "now".........we simply need to remain patient and let the company make the deal
This has from day one been a pipe dream................really McKay cutting a deal........LOL
Plans for high-speed rail in region get a boost
Calif.-to-Las Vegas route has received federal designation
By Kathleen Hennessey
ASSOCIATED PRESS
2:00 a.m. July 6, 2009
LAS VEGAS – The clogged tourist travel route between Southern California and Las Vegas has been designated a federal high-speed rail corridor, in a move that officials hope will signal increased cooperation between the regions on building speedier train travel.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced Thursday that the route is now considered part of the federally designated California high-speed-rail corridor.
LaHood called the congestion on Interstate 15 linking Southern California and the Las Vegas area “very bad for business, very bad for safety and certainly very bad for the environment.”
He made the announcement at a news conference in Las Vegas, accompanied by Sen. Harry Reid and California Department of Transportation Director Will Kempton.
The immediate effect of designation appears to be minimal. Nine other rail routes in the United States share the distinction, considered a boost for applying for a portion of the $8 billion in stimulus funding set aside by the Obama administration for high-speed-rail projects.
But Kempton said California will not include the Las Vegas leg in its application for federal money. That state's initial priority – a route connecting several cities along the coast – is considered a front-runner to receive a significant chuck of the federal dollars.
Reid spokesman Jon Summers said the designation could help a Las Vegas route secure federal loans, but transportation officials minimized the distinction's effect on federal loan programs.
“If they're going to apply for a loan, they can apply for a loan whether or not they're a designated corridor,” said Federal Rail Administration spokesman Rob Kulat. “It doesn't matter; it depends on the quality of the application.”
Still, Reid and Kempton used the announcement to promise that high-speed rail between Southern California and Nevada was on a fast track.
The men also touted their support for one of two competing train proposals vying to be the first to shuttle people across the desert to the casinos of the Las Vegas Strip.
Reid recently abandoned his backing for a futuristic levitating train connecting Anaheim and Las Vegas. The train, which would be the first in the U.S. to use magnetic levitation technology, was derided as the “Sin City Express” by the Democrat's political opponents.
On Thursday, the Senate majority leader said the maglev train, which carries an estimated a $12 billion price tag and would rely on federal money, wasn't realistic.
Reid's preferred project is now one advocated by powerful Republican lobbyist and political ally Sig Rogich. The electric DesertXpress train would travel at speeds of up to 150 mph and would stop 85 miles short of Los Angeles in Victorville.
DesertXpress backers say the project's estimated cost of up to $4 billion will be privately funded with the help of federal loans.
The president of the group backing the maglev project said he was surprised by the officials' public endorsement for DesertXpress. When the Obama administration announced its plan to fund high-speed rail earlier this year, Neil Cummings said he thought maglev was poised to get some stimulus money. Even without Reid's support, Cummings said, the project will move forward.

LAS VEGAS, July 3 (UPI) -- U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., says the maglev rail project that would have connected Las Vegas to Southern California is facing a dismal future.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal said Friday the U.S. senator has proposed that the $45 million allocated in a 2008 federal transportation bill for the magnetic levitation train project be used on other, unspecified efforts.
"Maglev is going nowhere," Reid, a staunch supporter of the maglev concept for the last three decades, said Thursday.
"I have personally arranged the appropriation of millions and millions of dollars, and it has gone to pay salaries and studies," he added.
Reid, who estimated the maglev project's final cost at $40 billion, still supports the proposed DesertXpress project that would connect Las Vegas and Victorville, Calif.
The Review-Journal said construction on the DesertXpress should begin in 2010 with its nearly $4 billion price tag likely covered by federal loans and private investors.

As reported in our Form 10-K FYE 09-30-08 and as filed with the Commission on a Form 8-K on July 28, 2008, we had signed a change of control contract with Mr. Glen McKay of Toronto, Canada which, if the agreement had closed, would have resulted in the company's pursuit of a business plan
involving the purchase of the monorail system in Las Vegas, Nevada, building of a high-speed railroad between the monorail and an area near Los Angeles, California, and the development of real estate opportunities in the adjacent
areas.
The contract with Mr. McKay expired by its own terms without the change of control having occurred. No further discussions with Mr. McKay are being held. We understand he no longer wants to conduct his proposed business in a public company."
