In this context the main problem with Trump is that he is, for all practical POLITICAL purposes, a D.C. outsider. As such, when going to pick advisers, people to fill the plethora of cabinet, administrative, other leadership and secretary of this and that roles, he had no choice but to rely on advice of those he believed trustworthy. There is NEVER much time to get a government built after an election unless you are a D.C. insider. Although he likely had final say on both Mnuchin and Calabria it would have been difficult at the time to predict the future of their actions - you have to start somewhere. Mnuchin played a tricky game until the end and Calabria is just a plain no real experience government policy wonk who knew he was going to and needed to stay D.C. connected long after Trump was gone - even if he did get second term.

A further problem is with the Republican party: the number of RINOs, those who seek to enrich themselves, and many other flavors and shades of globalists, neocons, etc. They are not nearly as united as the Democrat party - especially when it comes to backing a leader making decision. The Democrats are all in line with the globalist order with a playbook that almost none of them deviate from whereas Republicans are all over the place.

The hope we have with a Trump admin is that he is aware of the situation, has previous progress in attempting to put a plan together, has allies who want some kind of "release or privatization," there is at least a facade of capital being built organically by the company which offsets some of the wrong-headed narrative about the twins, time will run out on the warrants if not extended (which I think will be difficult to pull-off with a Trump admin in place), and finally, Trump now knows where some of the land mines are buried and, more importantly, who many of the rat bastards are.

This guarantees us NOTHING, but given what we've seen over the past decade-and-a-half a Trump admin is the best we have to hope for at this point.

Agree 110%. Just like the bankruptcy garbage that the pref holders were pushing, all fake nonsense. I believe the capital rule will be reduced, that is the key. Once they announce that, there will be rapid fire release plans and announcements that will follow that. Trump says he has people looking at it, and I bet they are structuring a solid plan. I just hope he doesn't have Mnuchin or Calabria involved at all. He needs fresh non-deepstate eyes on release. With Elon Musk appointed to audit the governement, that should provide enough distraction for all the crooks in DC to get their houses (committee's) in order while his team fixes housing and the twins. It's always the plans within plans, that no one foresee's, that provide the most fair outcomes.

Viking, I agree with your phone assessment. MIchigan has a law now for hands free, but hardly anyone is following it and I don't think police are enforcing it. During rush hours (3pm-6pm) You can find many on phones, it's got to be very frustrating getting home now a days with many stopped at lights playing away with a text msg. I'm retired for 7 years now, and every year since retiring I've seen the phone stuff get worse and worse. Folks on bikes really do play with fire due to all the distraction. It was bad enough for bikers before the the phones, now it's terrible.

We are one month from election day ... some past history and late night ramblings (no attempt here at clear organized exposition - it is what it is) ... Trump was elected President on Nov 8, 2016 ... below are some FnF data points related to that time period

- over the month of October 2016 till election day (Nov. 8th) Fannie traded between $1.65 to $1.88 volume only exceeded 3 million shares on 5 trading days in that period - the vast majority of those days it was 1 to 2 million shares
- the day after Trump was elected (Nov 9th) Fannie traded 28 million shares and jumped from $1.71 to $1.97
- the next trading day Fannie traded 36 million shares and jumped to $2.52
- over the 2 weeks of trading days from election day Nov 8th to Nov 18th Fannie traded over 218 million shares and closed at $3.13 at the end of that period
- on Nov 30th Fannie traded 79 million shares and closed at $4.49, the next day it reached an intraday high of $5/per share, but closed at $4.22 (I believe the $5 intraday high was the highest it's traded since then)
- Fannie closed the year (2016) at $3.9 on 12/30
- then the lawsuit losses started to pile up

If Trump is elected I see no reason why we should not have significant gains; however, I think they will be more tempered this time for many reasons - one of which will be Calabria continuing to open his big mouth. What is different this time around?
- the lamberth jury decision (offset by all the other court losses which so far justify the feds actions - BUT these actions have been justified in the name of c'ship NOT final or perpetual confiscation)
- Calabria's egregious capital rule (again offset by the Federal Reserve's recent suggestion that the tier with home loans for bank capital should likely be lightened - obviously, that's a paraphrasing, but still extremely positive)
- at least the appearance of organically built significant capital within the companies (even though it increases the liquidation preference - which I believe was actually put in place, like the capital rule to prevent premature escape while keeping the Feds in control)
- the "new" business model built on the guarantee fee unburdened by the huge mortgage portfolios
- there are others, but this is a good start ...

I think most of these offset one another enough to keep the speculation rich and healthy so as to see a fairly significant rise with a Trump win, but traders in this are much more jaded than before (imo) and will likely be ready to take profits at the drop of a hat ... in any case if the cheaters prevail all bets are off as to where we go ....
