I am not a straddler. I place on what I believe the market will do, one way or the other, and check my bets by lowering the amount instead of buying insurance on the other side.
In premarket, FAS is moving up and FAZ is moving down. Today's another big day for financials. More Geithner, more Obama. Senate today.
If you want to straddle, I would place more weight in FAS but not the March, get to April at least. From these depressed levels I see financials creeping upward. With the mkt begging for a financials recovery, if you want to sell calls, sell March 6's.. not 5's.. it's already 4. Better to get less $ on writing calls than to lose your stock. Keeping your stock is key because it lets you write again the next month. It's your moneymaker to keep the stock. Try not to let it get called away.
Rather than buy 100 FAZ, just buy some uncovered puts against FAS if you want to play both sides. That way, you're not stuck with spending $7600. There is a lot of downside in FAZ. More downside than selling a call option will cover against.
You can also just play FAS, buy the equity, and sell calls. That's a way of checking your bet without ever touching FAZ.
For the 100 shares of FAZ you can get 19 times more FAS. 19x more call writing power.
Then check your bet by selling FAS calls and using that $ to buy mere hundreds of $ on FAS puts or FAZ calls instead of going long $ 7600 on expensive and vulnerable FAZ equity.
Me too! Here is what I plan to do to fix that
/with full disclosure...
Traded too soon #msg-35552349
Pattern to get out, Hell or high water to recover loss #msg-36027784
Order standing... April 3's @ a dime! #msg-36016302
Will trade out at break even or better for a total of both trades and reenter URE when I think 5 of 5 comes in.
I've been a lurker of you since my interest in URE.

hey Ronnie, when you get a chance, give me your opinion on this strategy I may implement...
this is the basic structure...(using todays prices as example)
1)Buy 100 ~FAZ~ @80.00 = $8,000
2)Buy 2100 ~FAS~ @ 3.80 = $7,980
Total Basis = $16,000
3)sell 1 ~FAZCQ~(mar 85 call) @ 12.80 = $1,280
4)sell 21 ~FASCG~(mar 4 call) @ .70 = $1,470
Total basis reduction(1st month) = $2750(or 17.18%)
obviously one of the positions will get called out, upping the basis reduction north of 20%...
5)re-establishment of called out position...and repeat...
Ive been thinking about utilizing this strategy for some weeks now(except in a much bigger way)...I am just not 100% about the mathematics of it,in terms of me missing something...kind of seems a little too good to be true...
Im thinking that if the positions are executed at the exact same time then my risk on the long side should be reduced close to zero...expiration time is where it gets a little tricky...only because I havent figured out what is the most profitable strategy of selling the calls...there are many possibilities here with these super-high premiums on the 3x's...
I can live with a solid 20% a month as a core strategy...
Id appreciate any feedback in terms of drawdowns or drawbacks that you see...TIA
it already had the specialists pop to .72.
let's see them do it again.
pending mall sales in the news after the bell.
3 other big properties for sale, more valuable than these.
30 billion+ listed real estate value, mall and residential.
it does not look like they will go bk.
~GGP~ needs that specialists pop soon...I'll be watching this one...all realestate companies have my interest right now...commercial as well as residential...
Pounding the table on GGP here in the .40s.
TALF extended to Commercial Real Estate. Will benefit GGP in mall sales and/or refinancing.
Goldman Sachs is right in the thick of this and may pounce like a lion at any moment.
The specialist is a subsidiary of GS (Spear,Leeds&Kellogg) and GS was also hired as an advisor to GGP.
GS is going to make a lot of $ here. We know GGP hasn't paid back the loan from GS yet.. so GS will make $$ on this
any way it can.
Specialist will pop it when ready.
STVI recession-proof stock growing fast. Q3 net income tripled over Q2 just before it while still sporting a tiny annualized PE ratio. Q4 has been preannounced with record sales.

STVI has a tiny float, debt-free, and is becoming cash-rich while operating their recession-proof booming business.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=STVI.OB
With STVI earning +.04 EPS last Q and the massive margins it has, could +.10 Qs be far away or a +.40 annual pace? If so, PE of mere 10 = $4.00/share. They have yet to even advertise their services, only just began offering premium services, and are in the process of being the first to launch to mobile phones including the iPhone.
We should hear key info within 45 days of yesterday about their mobile dating application being launched according to investor relations.

...the bounce has not come yet...
Indeed D&D...the charts are so ugly...everything appears to want to fall off a cliff...
...hopefully this, stimulus passage will temporarily slow this bear market down & bounce us up from here...
will it be a lasting rally if it comes???
so far it is a phantom rally...
I expected the market to be a little more powerful or healthy right now...instead I see weakness...hopefully that will change...

Electronic Game Card Announces the Activation of Native American Gaming Contract for $10.25 Million
Thursday February 5, 8:00 am ET
Company Converts 44 percent of Series A Preferred Shares and Repurchases Underlying Stock
NEW YORK and LONDON, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Electronic Game Card, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: EGMI - News; "EGC"), announced today that an important contractual milestone had been reached in the launch of the Native American business with the start of its five year distribution contract with Sovereign Game Cards, LLC. In addition, the company's financial position has been improved by the completion of an agreement to repurchase and retire 2,851,686 shares of Series A 6% Convertible Redeemable Preferred EGC Stock and 960,000 warrants from an Institutional Investor for approximately $800,000.
The initial contractual requirement by Sovereign Game Cards, LLC ("SGC") was received by Electronic Game Card on December 31, 2008. This triggered the start of the five-year, exclusive distribution contract to Native American Gaming territories by SGC for a minimum aggregated royalty payment of $10.25 million to EGC over the period. Under the terms of the 5-year exclusive agreement, SGC will produce, market, sell and distribute EGC Electronic GameCard(TM) units to Native American Indian-owned casinos and their related charity and beneficial lotteries within the United States and Canada. EGC will receive minimum royalty fees of $1 million during the first twelve months following commencement of the contract, increasing by $500,000 each succeeding twelve month period through the fourth term, and increasing by $750,000 in the final twelve month period.
Tom L. Darwin, founder and managing principal of Sovereign Game Cards, LLC expressed his company's enthusiasm in signing the licensing agreement with Electronic Game Card, Inc., "The EGC Electronic GameCard(TM) is the next generation of instant win tickets for revenue and Native American Indian gaming promotions. Operator and industry response has been extremely positive to the Sovereign Game Card's proposition and we have verified a robust business model that has been converted into contracted relationships with North America Casino operators for deliveries of EGC Electronic GameCard(TM) in 2009. Sovereign Game Card and its affiliates and distributors have long established relationships with tribal leaders and Native American Indian communities throughout the U.S., including more than twenty-five tribes representing hundreds of Native American Indian run Casinos and retail operations in Florida, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon, Louisiana, Michigan and California."
Electronic Game Card, Inc. has also completed an agreement to repurchase and retire 2,851,686 million shares of Series A 6% Convertible Redeemable Preferred Stock and 960,000 warrants from an Institutional Investor, completing its sale of its investment in the Company. To execute this agreement the company requested and received approval for the repurchase agreement by a majority of the investors who hold a majority interest in the Series A Preferred shares. The process for repurchase and retirement of the shares was completed in January 2009 and the repurchase agreement has therefore reduced Company's outstanding series preferred stock from $6.5 million to $3.7 million.
"This announcement shows the high degree of focus of the EGC Board of Directors to maximize revenue while looking to use the company's financial resources to best increase shareholder value and strengthen the company's fiscal structure," commented Lord Steinberg, Executive Chairman of Electronic Game Card, Inc. "This news, combined with the arrival of Kevin Donovan as the new Chief Executive Officer, and Anna Houssels as Executive Vice President of Sales for Electronic Game Card, on February 1, 2009, sends a clear message that EGC is entering a very exciting growth phase. Within the present economic environment, the focus on the current business, the growth of products and identified new business sectors, demonstrates the Board's commitment to growing EGC revenues and enhancing shareholder value."

EGMI potential 5+ bagger based on current & exploding results, consistently beating and raising guidance every quarter. In addition to making money hand over fist, they are debt-free & cash-rich with healthy margins. Guidance is +.10 EPS for 2008, +.14 EPS for 2009 (40% growth) while forecasting long term they expect growth to be "more aggressive than 40%."

With a PE of less than 5 for 2009, EGMI is a multi-bagger in the marking IMO.
(1) Recently, Lord Steinberg has been appointed as Executive Chairman of the Board. He has a very impressive background in the gaming industry. His contacts and industry experience are likely to expand EGMI's growth. In addition, he has been buying large blocks of shares in the open market.
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?Message_id=29832911
(2) EGMI recently signed a five-year licensing agreement for distribution into Native American Indian-owned Casinos and Lotteries. It implies approximately an additional $0.02 in pre-tax earnings for 2009. This may not be factored into the guidance identified above:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=32191035
(3) EGMI has an investment in a mobile phone company that may provide a sizeable gain as they have plans to IPO in the near future.
(4) EGMI is expanding into games and toys. Their first product in this area is a game for the very popular children's series "Thomas and Friends."
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?Message_id=30699277
(5) EGMI is considering a stock buyback program due to the fact that they are sitting ontop of so much cash.

REPR -- profitable, rapidly growing, recession-proof, tiny float OS & market cap....
(1) After turning the corner of profitability a few of quarters ago, sales and net income are starting to blow up, with Operational cashflow last quarter was +$311,000, bringing their cash position from $158k to $349k, bringing their balance sheet to positive book value for the first time.

(2) REPR forecasts their quarterly performance to accelerate:

(5) Products are recession-proof with no direct competition with sales rapidly expanding due to a new treatment (Vivaglobin) where their infusion pump is the best, cheapest, safest, and most convenient form of delivery:

http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=24616830
(7) Additional products are being released this year as well as more products are in development.
Based on last Q, REPR is growing so fast with such large margins that I think they are 1 or 2 quarters away from +.02 EPS per quarter or more or an annualized +.08 EPS pace IMO. Possibly 2-3 quarters away from +.03 EPS per Q or an annualized +.12 EPS. A mere 15 PE with rapid recession-proof growth = $1.80/share.

RBCL is one of my favorite stocks that I think will triple to quadruple from current levels over the next year. They made $0.037/share last quarter and trade at less than four times annualized Q3 earnings. They have been growing over the last few years which is a trend that I strongly believe will continue given their large backlog and growth initiatives. RBCL sells nutritional and medical products and consequently has a recession resistant business. Here are some more reasons why I think RBCL will move significantly higher in the next year:
1. Rapidly Growing Earnings - RBCL had record EPS of $0.037 in Q3, the most recent quarter. Given their backlog, 2008 likely will produce record annual earnings. 2007 earnings were a huge improvement over 2006 ($0.08 in 2007 vs. $0.02 in 2006). They have a very strong trend of improvement in earnings over a long period of time and I expect that trend to continue.
2. Huge Backlog - Backlog is $8.7M for their CCI account in the most recent quarter which is the second highest level in history. Also, the backlog only represents a portion of their sales going forward. They have GM of 47.5% so additional sales drop rapidly to the bottom line.
3. Rapidly Growing Medical Sales - Medical sales jumped 42% year-over-year and looks like it will continue. At the end of March they announced an expansion of their medical segment into Latin America. They also announce in February that they would begin selling their products in Kroger. http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=28065107 http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=26926765
4. Expanding Nutritional Sales - Nutritional sales increased 23.5% in the most recent quarter due to international expansion. The company has embarked on some new initiatives to expand their US and Canadian nutritional sales.
5. Strong Balance Sheet - RBCL has a book value of $0.39 which includes $0.33 in cash. That puts them in a strong position financially to continue growing.

VBDG -- Why I Think It Will Explode:
Tiny float, market cap, just turned an operating income last quarter for the first time, trades barely above book value, and in is an industry known to benefit from recessions....
(1) In the 4 quarters, VBDG has gone from a -$3.8 million net loss Q4 2007 to Q3 2008 being near break-even (with positive operating income) and retail sales alone up around 60%+ last quarter, massively outpacing other retailers poor results because VBDG's products in part due to their products being cheap & money-saving (see item #5 and watch the youtube clips!!)
(2) During Q4, their products were selling out completely with huge restock orders at Wal-mart, Sears, Best Buy, Staples, Walgreens, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc. One product (MyPlace) was the #1 best selling product across the Bed Bath & Beyond chain during Thanksgiving (black Friday) weekend. <~~see the recent press releases and check with your local stores. Very easy to verify all of this information.
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=33959355
(3) Q4 YOY sales should be up 70-100% (if sales are similar to Q3) with positive earnings possible compared to a big net loss the prior year.
Why I think $5/share Is Realistically Possible for VBDG:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=34617217
(4) VBDG is expanding into new store chains including huge grocery store chains:

(5) Infomericals Rise During Recessions (on ABC news 1/12/09)

(6) VBDG's CEO has bought shares in the open market recently:
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=34134063
(7) Looking into early 2009, they are launching a ton of new products to layer ontop of the current ones. Some of these include a celebrity heated Ice Scraper (already launched during Q4), three new styles of MyPlace products, Nice Dicer, Genius Air, Ecoballs, Detect, further expansion of SteamBuddy & MyPlace to restock the massive sales of these during Q4, and a number of other products yet to be announced.....a rather busy list of new products to all hit all of the major retail chains upon launch layered ontop of their current product success.

~FAS~ ...long...feb 10 calls...@1.70
~FASBB~
bought ~SIRI~ @ .13 TODAY...I believe that this will be one reverse split that works...
bought ~AIZ~ puts...scalped the january30's already & holding the feb 25s...
bought ~FAS~ and sold jan-17.5 calls against them
still holding feb ~SHLD~40 puts but chart looks bullish...
weird, I just tried to buy 2500 shares of ~SAY~ and IB reported that this contract can only be closed...I cant buy it...
SRS having a great day.. URE sub-5.. but that should swing the other way some day this week..
i picked up SAY earlier.. probably undervalued even though the ceo admitted to inflating revs.. Indian gov wants it to succeed.

A place where Fundamental analysis can meet with Technical analysis.
Timing is everything.
The advantage that we have now over the 'Legends of the past ',is that our market is much more Global... There will be new legends in our time, some unknown...hopefully some of those legends will surface here. The most intense charting techniques, the most solid & thorough fundamental analysis, and exact thoughts at precise times by some of the greatest traders of our time...that, is what I want this board to become one day.
