Tonix Pharmaceuticals secures MCDC grant to advance next-gen Mpox & Smallpox vaccine development

The investigational vaccine is a minimally replicating live-virus formulation based on a modified orthopoxvirus. It has demonstrated the ability to provide single-dose immune protection against mpox in preclinical studies while offering improved tolerability compared to traditional live-virus vaccines. Previous studies have also shown its effectiveness in protecting animals from lethal intratracheal exposure to a more virulent strain of the mpox virus. Tonix is currently preparing for Phase 1 clinical trials in both the United States and Kenya.
