One thing that bugs me in TOS is that everytime you change some setting it sets the calibration of the chart back to default where the candles are all scrunched up and then you have to pan and zoom in again. I did mention that to the TOS people. It is making it very cumbersome to create templates.
With the Style (with Studies) checked, which I think is the only way to save everything in a chart, it also does not save the way the chart is calibrated. This means that if I open a new chart and load a Style saved, I then have to go in and rejustify the heights of the studies, etc. All this is very time consuming IMO. I'll talk to them about it after the first of the year when we meet again.
I read the intro to the article on TF which described why to use it over other indexes. I didn't try to understand the rest on trading it. I figured I would need more time to read that. I just started watching it yesterday compared to TZA.
What happened to Tues on the 5min chart? It is missing.
Two questions:
Have you figured out what ema's the three lines are?
Do you know what ema conditions cause a trade signal?
If you are a paying member then I could understand if you didn't want to reveal their secrets.
Played around with "SAVE STYLE" y. Different than I thought it would be. I thought it would just change the time settings, but it wiped out the studies unless you save them with the style. So "SAVE STYLE" is nothing more what FSC calls "SAVE LAYOUT". But good now that I understand.
I do like the "SAVE STUDY SET" in that one can save a set of studies, but I don't see myself using it much. I will just start using the SAVE STYLE which is the format that I am used to using.
The link to the article that you posted makes one think that there is some special way to trade futures charts. Look like just any other chart to me. IMO it seems futures are just another way to use leverage, nothing more. One E-mini (ES) contract controls about $63,250 worth of stock. The intraday margin required is $2500, so that gives one about 25:1 leverage. My hats off to anyone who can/will trade with that level of leverage. A quick 4% flash crash and you can kiss that account goodbye.
The only reason I track TF is because it trades 24hours and thus gives me a continuous steam of bars. There are no 1-2% gaps like on a IWM chart. My TA's act much more behaved on TF and I am actually getting different signals without the gap dislocations. I am tracking signals on both charts, so will see soon if TF signals are a better way to trade. But once I get a signal, I still trade IWM or one of the 2x or 3x ETFs.
Thanks for charts
TNA premarket ahead of the econ news was 46.75/46.85 so I was anticipating a move a bit higher at eod but it didn't participate with the SPX surge. Not sure what was holding the RUT back?
I see that TZA held over it's 52w low while SPXU set a new low under 13.
Consolidation theory would be a continuation of the prior movement so more upside for TNA and downside for TZA/SPXU would be anticipated. Really surprised that TNA did not have a breakout today.
Have a Wonderful Weekend!
hmmmmm >>> use the lines!

Cheers to you too Duma!
I've been playing with /TF today and working on my chart templates in TOS...they're getting a little better each day. Thanks to you and Spdpro for bringing /TF to my attention. Good stuff. Found this in case you're interested.

Still don't know much about tick charts. Will research them more when I have the time but, seems it's a preference.
If anyone is interested, I've had some great one on one training from TOS. All you have to do is set up an appointment. The first guy was pretty elementary. After I called back and expressed my frustration, I got someone very good. I needed someone advanced for my impatient brain lol.
Same to you Cyn and to everyone.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Duma > did that last 2 years, was Total waste of Time
I believe you. Will be traveling, so that works well with me anyway.
Ok , something to think about
Next week is prob a Total Bust
Algo Drip Dribble,do nothing,go nowhere,no trend market
No Reason to play in the Barbed Wire, been there done that
Next big step up I'm looking for will be 3 Jan
will see how things shape Up or Down into that play
I'll keep you guys posted on that one
Ditto, for me it's all movements
That is the way I am trading also. I never even look at actual trade symbol until I am already in the trade and then only for reference. All signals are TF generated.
<chuckle> yes, in time ... probably, a lot of time lol. But, I have many years into QT so, it doesn't surprise me that the transition is a hard one for me. Thanks for your help and encouragement.
Once I get better at Thinkscript, I may start liking it more. I sure wish they would hurry up and make the headers on the charts floating. I need more space or I'll have to approach things differently on the charts. I believe TOS has the ability to do alot of what QT does and probably more.
Desert > creatures of "habit", it will work out
Hmmm, I don't have those in my lists so added them. Thanks!
I'm trying to get used to the charts in TOS. I can't find a configuration I like yet. I think it will take me some time to "like" them but, I persevere lol.
might I suggest "stay out" nothing to gain here
my entire last TZA trade was mainly /TF /ES on screens
I do not just look at a TZA chart for directions
If market stays down, this will be the 3rd bounce off the SPY 200day ma.
Never even noticed the Save Drawing option. I have saved a Style but never really figured out what it did. I think I understand from what you said. I will play around with it. Thanks.
TOS does the same think as QT when you close the program which is part of the reason I have not learned the save commands. I have my two charts and they always come back up when I reopen TOS.
TF is just my short for /TF, the Russell 2k mini futures. You will also want to watch /ES and /NQ (S&P and NASDAQ). They were all in the pull down list of symbols that were there from the beginning. I noticed that any time I load a new symbol, it is automatically added to the list. All the currency pairs are there also.
Great! Thanks so much.
/TFH2 or /TF on TOS (R2K emini Fut)
What is a TF chart? Haven't played with tick charts before. What is it you like about them?
I think you click Save Style and then click the Save Studies tab next to it. Still figuring out this program myself.
Options are:
Save Style (background settings)
Save Studies (studies used on a chart)
Save Drawings (trendlines, fibonacci, etc.)
I think by doing this they believe they are giving us more flexibility in creating charts. It is starting to make sense to me. :)
In QT, if you close a chart, it saves all the last settings so when you open it again it is automatically there. I will add this as a suggestion to my list for the programmers. TOS is a bit cumbersome. The trainer told me that if you think like a trader instead of a programmer then TOS will be more intuitive. That doesn't really make sense to me but, maybe it will to you.
crack pipe and hopium
Yes for sure will be telling, but I don't think the market will even care. Everybody's full of eggnog.
Durable orders

Market is dead but just keeps grinding higher.
Not much to talk about except to second your comment the other day about using ticks charts. Also finding 24hr TF charts a lot more informative than than just watching IWM during normal trading hours. In the process of revising how I trade based on both of these. Can not even imagine not using both of these tools now.
All I have watched this week is my TOS charts. Have not figured out how to save charts (do know how to save study sets) so that I can switch fast from one set of time frames to another, if it is even possible. Have not even loaded FSC in two days.
Nobody here but us chickens.
No matter what, if playing Futures Land you Better
know what your doing, One wrong play and your Toasted

Nice looking chart. I am now out, made a small gain. Sure looked there for a bit. Not a bad day. Pretty easy charts to play.
Had to leave home late morning, so I set up a stop the got me out with a pretty good profit. Got home to see that the turn occurred at 12:30. Jumped in at 3:03, so looks like I will ride it up a bit, but come the close, I am out.
yes I read him. I like his chart work. I agree with his point of view but for my own trading I am completely technical.

As of Oct 2013 I made a major shift in my trading to Phase Charts. I then stopped all my trading with SR60 and F85 although I still use the signals with Phase Trading when the timing is right. I feel that this is a good time to stop using this board to describe and document my trading. This board has operated very well of late as a general board and I like that. I plan to continue posting my general comments on this board just as before, but starting today, Oct 28, I will post all my comments about Phase Trading on a new board that I have created, CYCLE TRADING.
In Dec 2010, this board was given a new name. It was formerly the CSG board for the people from Clearstation (CS). The aim of this board is to openly share our trading methods, and help each other make money. It is important that all posters are respectful and while questions may arise about what is posted, responses should never turn personal. You are encouraged to post charts or other visuals to share your ideas. All ideas on this board are free to use or share as you see fit. No subscriptions needed. If what you learn here helps you, please give to the charity of your choice.
