Catch me coppa!!!!
In 1993 the US Navy de-classified and disclosed publicly its A-Frame SWATH vessel known as the IX-529 'Sea Shadow' built by Lockheed Martin. The photo above shows the 'stealth' vessel in San Francisco Bay underway at dusk to participate in events associated with Fleet Battle Experiment-Echo. The 160 ft long craft was designed as a test platform to research advanced technologies in propulsion, automation, sea-keeping abilities, and reduced radar signature. The angled sides of the craft extend below the waterline to torpedo-shaped hulls which provide the vessel with exceptional stability in heavy weather. It is capable of operating in Sea State 5 (extremely rough) conditions. The angled sides also provide radar reflection and structural integrity for the 70 ft wide craft. Although the craft performs well in the open sea, its 14 ft draft limits its harbour manuverability and access to many harbours. Full speed for the vessel is around 13 knots. Research gathered from the Sea Shadow has led Lockheed to further advanced SWATH and SLICE designs.
Watch out for them dang Pirates! ARrgggggggg!
Pirates getting more violent, maritime watchdog says
HIGH SEAS: An international shipping group says that pirates are becoming more active and violent, and that Indonesia and other nations must improve their patrols
AP , KUALA LUMPUR
Wednesday, Jan 28, 2004,Page 6
Pirates attacked more ships and grew more violent last year, and seafarers will remain in peril unless countries such as Indonesia patrol their waters more stringently, a maritime watchdog agency said.
The shipping industry suffered 445 attacks last year, up 20 percent from 2002 with 370 cases, the British-based International Maritime Bureau said in a report released last week by its piracy watch center in Kuala Lumpur.
Violence on the high seas also mounted, as pirates worldwide were increasingly armed with guns and killed 21 people last year, more than doubling the 10 deaths in 2002. The worst-hit countries were the Philippines, which reported nine casualties, Bangladesh, with seven deaths, and Indonesia with two.
However, 71 crew members also went missing during various attacks last year, and this figure "should be considered along with the 21 confirmed killed," the Maritime Bureau's report said.
Indonesia accounted for 121 attacks across its sprawling archipelago, more than a quarter of the worldwide total. Also badly hit were Bangladesh with 58 attacks, Nigeria with 39 and India, which reported 27 cases.
"Unless Indonesia takes serious steps to police its waters, we don't foresee any drop in the number of attacks worldwide," said Noel Choong, head of the piracy reporting center.
Many of Indonesia's attacks were robberies and kidnappings for ransom, though authorities have been mystified recently by an "abnormal trend" of pirates who hijack tugboats and barges for unknown purposes, Choong said.
"We have no idea where the boats have been taken and what they're being used for," Choong said, speculating that the vessels might have ended up with Indonesian crime syndicates for smuggling activities.
After the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks using commercial airliners, the center warned that ships such as tankers carrying explosive natural gas could be hijacked and used as weapons.
So far, those fears haven't been borne out but the threat persists, Choong said.
While port security in many places has been upgraded, the bureau warns that no shipboard response can protect seafarers from terrorist assaults.
Choong said that the Maritime Bureau had no specific information about terrorist threats.
Not in any pictures yet...maybe I will get one of me on top of my Jetski, thats all I can afford right now and not these big dream boats. I have a rowboat if you want a picture of that...lol
doing fine how are you, in any of those pictures?
That a real nice boat my son had one something
like that were they could sleep in over night

hi az2820! any better it would be a sin. Just waiting for the weather to warm up...burrrrr! i hate this cold weather. how yer doin?
hey niz how you been?
Used to do that every winter in S Dak Phil!!!! Way fun driving to the store on a sled, pulling a lil trailor on skis behind, yehawwwwwwwww Us kids loved getting snowed in!!!!
Niz. LOL! Ya you can wait a bit.
excel, I agree... Not like Im in a big hurry to get it now with a foot of snow on the ground. hah...
excel,
Never been on a jet ski. I imagine people buy them for all the same reasons they buy speed boats which is to have fun.
I have been on a jet ski, and in a speed boat.
To me, they are both kind of like riding a scary ride at the fair, or an amusement park. It's really fun a few times, But I don't care to have a roller coaster or a log flume in my back yard.
But, like I said, I can see a snowmobile or a four wheeler as having a purpose other than fun.
Have fun,
Phil
Phil. I'm not invested in the company. I was a while back.
Snowmobiles are great fun. Doing 120 on one is a rush. Just like the rush people get at the track.
Another great adventure with them is going up into high country and seeing it like few people ever get a chance to see it is truly amazing.
Never been on a jet ski. I imagine people buy them for all the same reasons they buy speed boats which is to have fun.
excel,
I can see need and purpose in a snowmobile.
Like if you are snowed in and need groceries. Or you need to get someone out of a winter emergency as fast as possible.
Same for a four wheeler.
I see no need or purpose behind a jet ski. Period. Other than a POS toy than one quickly gets tired of.
In my area jet skis are a dime a dozen compared to what they cost new. Because they have no real purpose other than as a toy.
I hope you have not invested all of your capital in this company.
Reminds me of some of hollen's scam companies.
Have fun,
Phil
LOL! I'd rather buy a snowmobile myself.
But if I was in the watercraft market I'd rather buy one of those then a jet ski. You should check out the videos if you haven't already. Very cool.
excel,
I thought you were a frugal person.
You invest in alternate energy so you can spend 6 to 7 grand on a POS toy?
LOL
Have fun,
Phil
Niz. That imo isn't a bad price considering what they do.
I'd wait for the new one.
excel, I just found it in the FAQ page...
How much will they cost?
This first year the Igniter 2000SS has a suggested retail between $5,995.00 and $6,995.00. Due to the high demand the consumer needs to contact the dealership closest to them to lock down a Jetboard for this first year.

Excel, Do you know how much the powerski is? I am trying to find a price everywhere but cant find it... I saw they are releasing the new lighter engine in February at the Miami Boat show. I wonder how much that one is going to be.

Hi Shaolin,
Ya mean you are moving to BOW-FERT on purpose? Absolutely fantastic fishing. Spend lots of time on Okracroke. Get yourself a 22 ft center console with at least 175 HP.
BT
showlin....Howdy Amigo and Welcome to Dream Boat.
Me don't know squat about NC, don't think you have that many flats there to warrant a flats boat, there just that.....for the flats and they'll beat the living snot outa ya in open water. I know that the Carolina's got plenty of blue water and your going to want to go after Giant Blue Fin Tuna as everyone does, I've ran my 24 Mako 70-80 miles off shore in good weather chasing fish in the Sea of Cortez (no coast guard or helo's there), just make sure you've got the right safety equipment....2 VHF radio's, GPS, Jackets, and even an EPIRB is recommended EPIRB - GlobalFix 406 w/Built-in GPS - Cat II Manual Only $1,199.99 USD
They have cheaper ones.... http://www.westmarine.com
I'll ask Bruce Thompson to come over and give ya some pointers, he's an East coaster!
Shao,
The Carolina skiffs are great boats for the area you are talking about.
I'd go with at least an 19'er.

Have fun,
