Me don't know squat about NC, don't think you have that many flats there to warrant a flats boat, there just that.....for the flats and they'll beat the living snot outa ya in open water. I know that the Carolina's got plenty of blue water and your going to want to go after Giant Blue Fin Tuna as everyone does, I've ran my 24 Mako 70-80 miles off shore in good weather chasing fish in the Sea of Cortez (no coast guard or helo's there), just make sure you've got the right safety equipment....2 VHF radio's, GPS, Jackets, and even an EPIRB is recommended
