Ditto here: We inherited some from my wife's aunt and use it's company investment plan to buy shares monthly. It's the most reliable, if not the best, investment we have.
New here and just adding my two cents.
Dominion was my first investment stock over 21 years ago and I still have it today. It will probably be passed on to my kids.
Love the consistant dividend (300+ qtrs) and the buy direct from the company.
Additionally, its large, family owned and ran, and is poised for the future with its proven natural gas reserves and storage and nuclear reactor technology.
Just an awesome consistant company.
Not glamorous but steady and a winner overall.
I predict a fairly consistent upswing from this point on for the next couple of months.
Dominion Resources negotiates....
NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa., Nov 17, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- D | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Beacon Redevelopment Industrial Corporation (Pink Sheets: BCND | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) today announced that it entered into negotiations with Dominion Resources, Inc. pertaining to their use, since 1986, of the Westmoreland Glass Factory as a natural gas storage facility and gas well.
In 1954, the former owners of the glass factory in Grapeville, Pennsylvania, signed agreements allowing the predecessor of Dominion Resources to use the property as a gas storage facility and to operate a gas well.
The agreements expired upon sale of the property. Specifically, both agreements state, "In case of sale of part or whole of the premises, this permit shall become null and void." In 1986, Westmoreland Warehouse and Industrial Building, Inc., purchased the Westmoreland Glass Factory, rendering all permits expired.
Upon investigating the natural gas holdings on the facility, Beacon's experts determined that the storage facility and gas well continued to operate unbeknownst to the company. Beacon entered into negotiations with WWIB's successor and acquired an assignment of all prior rights to the use of the property and the gas beginning in 1986 and continuing through the present.
In mid-2008, Beacon contacted Dominion regarding the situation. In September 2008, Beacon sent Dominion a formal demand. In November 2008, Beacon's management began negotiations with Dominion for compensation regarding the apparent use of the property and resources for 22 years, and to determine whether to grant an easement. As the negotiations continue, Beacon's natural gas experts will conduct the research necessary to determine if the compensation is fair to the company's shareholders.
"This is a significant situation that could provide a large capital infusion to Beacon's companies. I look forward to continuing my discussions with Dominion to resolve 22 years of the use of the property and its resources, and to create an agreement that resolves the issues," Beacon's President, Adam Marek, said. The company could not comment further due to the nature of the ongoing negotiations.

Old news---anyone have an update?
I have owned it for almost 30 years. I haven't done any DD on it lately.
Sorry,
Phil
Thanks. I just bought 500 shares last week. What is your opinion of Dominion as a buy right now?
Not many people want to discuss real companies on Ihub.
They just want to discuss POS pinkies that have no verifiable assets nor audited financials.
I have been a stockholder in D for about 35 years and it seems to be a well run company.
Anything in particular you want to discuss?
Phil
Wow the last post was in 2004. What is going on?
None of your business.
Have fun,
Phil
Do you have stock in this company, Phil?
John
hollen,
You ever fished Providence Forge for Bowfin or Bass...??
I assume you mean "The Chick" or the Chickahominy River, since you mentioned PF.
There is also Diascund Reservoir near PF.
I grew up fishing and skiing on "The Chick". I have a lot of great memories of my summers and weekends spent on the river.
Too many "bassholes" and jetskis on it now though.
Have fun,
Phil
Greg,
grew up in the Shenandoah valley
I love the Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge mountains.
I have spent a fair amount of time in Winchester. Very nice city.
I worked for a company based in Harrisonburg for a while and visited that city numerous times. Another nice city.
Have fun,
Phil
I was trying to think of the name of Clifton Forge, ha ha ha ha ha....
There's a place where you can get off the Freeway to the right, go to the industrial park and turn left, then go to the end of the road and fish the river and and intersecting stream -- that was a lot of fun.
You probably know the spot, a bunch of boulders cross the river there. And, there's a big plant of some kind on the north side.
There's a "..panel shop.." in Staunton that makes control enclosures for GE-Fanuc in Charlottesville. Had to go up there and wrestle with their engineer over details one day. Some good food and hooch served in that town..!! I was there in '98 when they had that huge ice storm; ....pretty - but very damaging.

I was born in Clifton Forge. Dad was born in Waynesboro, worked over 35 yrs. for Columbia Gas. I grew up in Staunton.
A great place to grow up and the mountains can't be beat!
greg
Cool.
I can relate to that... I helped design the Coors Plant up that way; in Elkton I believe.
I also used to go up and fish the streams up around Covington, Lewisburg and Green Sulpher Springs.
Boy, it sure would be hard to justify buying much D today, considering the bargain prices of everything else these days..!!

jmhollen,
re: You ever fished Providence Forge for Bowfin or Bass...??
Nope. When I lived in VA (and to this day) I'm more of a trout fisherman. I did most of my trout fishing in the Shenandoah valley.
re: Vepco: Aside from local distribution work (Augusta, Rockingham counties), the only "BIG" stuff I was involved in was the Mt Storm generating plant in WVa.
greg
Hi Phil,
re: Did you live in Virginia?
Yep, grew up in the Shenandoah valley, graduated Va. Tech, JMU.
It's a great state.
greg
Hey BoP,
The 5-year chart on D looks really interesting.
Even shows some geriatric Greenspam economic effects.
Too bad the board's iBox is so drab, and clutered with personal snippets.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi greg,
I'll be chatting with big D's cheif burner engineer off and on for the forseeable future.
The R&D outfit I work with has developed a new burner that will burn Bunker-C,
with minimal by-products - and almost 0 particulates.
Terra Tek "..We gonna rock..", can you dig it...!?!
Background includes: Stearns-Roger, Fluor-Daniel, DOE, DOT train test facility
(225kVAC-to: O-to5kVC variable), and tons of facilities distribution 13.2kV on down.
I helped build WhiteOak Semi east of Richmond; dual feed from VEPCO.

greg,
I'll keep an eye on your thread, for sure.
Please do.
Did you live in Virginia?
Have fun,
Phil
bullrider,
I worked for VEPCO in Virginia back in the 70's, after I got out of the Air Force (distribution engr.).
I'm not now invested in the utility sector, but always keep an eye on Dominion ('cause I worked for them) and Columbia Gas ('cause my Dad worked for them for over 35 yrs.)
I'll keep an eye on your thread, for sure.
greg
BOP,
Here is a chart:
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/research/chart.gsp?s=D&time=month
I have owned it for many years.
Not a great performer, but steady.
Have fun,
Phil
This one is currently on my watch list. Any comments concerning it history would be apprecitated.
