The good things in life a friend a cigar and well aged rum!
arrrr mate! think about it!
O yeah, FLW - I spent time there from 80 until 84 ... several trips to Lake of the Ozarks too. I'm on Table Rock now, though, which is still much quieter than LO ... thankfully!
Have a good one out there ... watch your six!
Have a good Sunday GP. I hope you got some good sticks to smoke. I am off to take the wife shopping or whatever it is she does. See ya later!
Ah, Missouri. I spent many a time there, at Fort Leonard Wood. I was just in Kansas City maybe a few months ago. Lake of the Ozarks one of my favorite spots! Smoked many cigars out there!
Ah not so much here really. Branson is all about $$$$ and they strongly discourage any bars, to "maintain a family atmosphere" (translation = Children spend money too! ) and Springfield passed an almost complete ban on smoking in any businesses .. even in the cigar shops .. last year. That's what happens when a few do-gooders decide what's best for everyone, and import big bucks from the national level 'anti' programs.
I am stuck pretty much with either sitting out on my deck or sunroom, or walking all 150 feet to the boat dock, and firing up there while I watch the lake! It's tough, but I survive! LOL
LOL, screw it, I will make her pay it ALL!
March Madness begine. GOt Syracuse going all the way. I don't know about where you are, but the old days you can take a few sticks, hit the bar, smoke and watch a bunch of great games. In New York, not anymore, why I love being out in Vegas. Huge screens, I can smoke a good stick, they GIVE me friggin' drinks, and enjoy.
If she doesn't drink it, that means you can order the really good stuff, and consider half the tab as hers!
Ooops, sorry, you are right, was SLOJAB.
I am a standard smoker myself, but every once in a while, I enjoy an Acid or a coffee. THe BEST reason for that as well is that my WIFE likes those. I have her smoke a few up with me when we go out to Vegas. She will only smoke an Acid or a coffee. I can't get her to drink scotch, though. LOL, probably for the best, she is a MAJOR lightweight.
Nah, that had to be someone else. I did say a Partagas Black has flavors of coffee/espresso and chocolate as you smoke it, but someone else was also talking about a coffee flavored cigar.
I don't do the 'infused' flavored stuff. I prefer the tobacco blends that produce the different flavors. The Partagas Black is a (very) full flavored, bold smoke with a pure ebony wrapper that looks like it is just about wet with oozing oils ... never had a bad one yet. But they aren't as strong as a Joya de Nic Antano...

I usually get the Classico size, but the Bravo gives you a good solid 45 minutes or more.
I have to go back to the beginning of this board, you mentioned a coffee cigar I believe that you were bonkers for. I am hankering for one of those right now as I sip my coffee.
Will check out the CI website. Hopefully they have a Ghurka sampler, don't believe I ever smoked one of those.
I tell ya, a Joya de Nic would almost be worth the trip even without the rum!
I'm getting to the 'need to order' point too, but I have forsaken Thompsons in favor of CI Intl a long time ago. CI pedddles a lot of Ghurkas, and I have developed a taste for just about anything with the Ghurka band on it. They've a fairly new one called "Special Ops" that comes with a 'Special Ops knife" when one orders a box. Of course, a lot of the Ghurka boxes are artwork in themselves.
Not too long. My boss has got some nice cigars in his humidor, every once in a while we fire one up and go outside to chat and enjoy a fine cigar. THe weather here in New York has been pretty darn awesome this year.
I got a Thompson Catalog in the mail the other day, out of the blue. My mouth was watering flipping through the pages. Time for me to get in some orders, otherwise I am just gonna go fly to Alpine's and smoke up one of his Nicaraguan sticks. I hope there is some rum left!
I second that!
How long have you been 'smokeless' CM?
I was keeping tabs on your trip on the BFHJ board. Hope you had fun. Man, look at all those nice cigars you got! GP and I would be more than happy to help you smoke those. I will bring rum AND Scotch.
I doubt it is in the garbage, it is at some customs dude's house.
time will come, i sat on a stump looking over my place in the sun Cigar and Rum life is good!
Enjoy! It's just too cold here to go out and stoke one up!
yes thay are, to set back and smoke one the right way! i deep in the 18 year rum and wow so good!
especially these days .... can't depend on anything anymore!
Those Joya de Nics are some fine cigars ... strong as steel, but smooth smoking too.
that was ok! should have got more
its hard to tell what are gov. says is ok!
Did you have any problems bringing back the cigars? Since they aren't Cuban, I would think it was no big deal, right?
yes it dose so will lite up a fine Cigar and think what it could have been, up in smoke
Man, what can I say ....??
Sucks being you! LOL
AT 20 years it now is La Cure so it was 21 year old La Cure RUM!
AND I DIDN"T GET TO TRY IT
I'M ready to go back LOL!
Man what a bummer! I'd have been tempted to open it and have at least a couple of good shots straight from the bottle!
Man, that flat out sucks!
Yeah if in my bag in plane OK but not a carry on even in a sealed bag from airport out of the USA, now they told me I could ck in my carry on but I would have to go back to start over but I all most misted the flight because of the time it toke to get through it all, way under maned!
What, you mean because of customs?
You know, I have the same sneaking suspicion .....
Surely not!
I bet you those two bums DRANK all the booze and smoked all the smokes, leaving us NOTHING!
Thanks for sharing!
Heading back tomorrow last night here ;-( will tell him.
AP
Oh, I thought you were back already ! Enjoy yourself! Those are indeed primo smokes!
Tell the old fart "Hi" for me will ya! LOL
acc and I are heading to the lake for a beer and one good smoke for me. weee lol
Oh man, I'm green with envy! Bring those back with ya? I wouldn't even want to think you indulged in any ... (ahem) of those 'forbidden fruit' sticks while you were there, right?
Glad you had a good trip. We were getting some progress notes and pics!
Fire one of tham bad boys up! Those are kick-ass sticks man!
They sure are aptly named ..... The Jewel of Nicaragua!
Enjoyed an Astral Talanga Valley Selection pyramid a while ago, while out on my daily 'stroll'. Elegantly clad in a very dark, ebony shade maduro wrapper, with fillers and binder from three different countries, this 'Black Beauty' is chock full of espresso and chocolate flavors, as well as some leathery notes, along with a lingering sweet tobacco flavors. The construction is good and firm, and this stick has a good, firm feel to it.
Pre-light, the aromas of chocolate and coffee were obvious. The draw was just a shade tight, but not too much so. It lit easily, and I had to touch-it-up twice, possibly because of being outdoors in a slight breeze. After my walk, I finished it up sitting out on the deck, looking out over the lake and watching the early season bass fisherman out on the lake today soaking up the wonderful sunshine.
The finish was long and smooth, and the cigar never lost its flavors throughout, just had periods where one would dominate just a bit, then the others kicked back in. I 'nubbed" it, wishing it had lasted a while longer. This was a very satisfying smoke, full flavored but not at all harsh, and I am glad I have a few more left in the old humidor.
Personally, I would have liked a bit of some peppery spiciness that wasn't really present, but that absence in no way detracted from what is just a very good smoke. . Try one if you get the opportunity. For those who enjoy your smokes with a good complex mix of distinctly different flavors, you'll most probably find, as did I, this one is most definitely worth your while.
I'd have to give this one an 88 or 89. It is available from many of the internet sites. Mine had been sitting in the humidor for a good while, so I don't know how one might be 'right off the truck', but with that beautiful, delicious looking wrapper, I doubt you'll be able to resist this one very long after it arrives.
His prices aren't bad at all on his web site.
I quit cigarettes in mid 90s .... now just a cigar once in a while. started them aout three years ago. I don;t inhale (seriously, like really I don't! LOL)
You sold him on a "mlm co"??

WARNING WARNING WARNING
Don't let the FDA regulate Cigars, Read the information at the following link, then contact your representatives in Congress and let them know we want the FDA to keep their grubby paws off our Fuentes and Cohibas.

Don't wait for the other fellow to do it. Take a few minutes now to write your congressman, and get behind this effort to stop any further regulation of handmade, imported cigars.
agreed all around
The Auroras are good, and very overpriced ..... IMO. I enjoy a Chateau Fuente just as much.
That 70 Joya de Nic will make your head spin .... for sure!
Man I'll be glad when warm weather returns.
