OK - Stogie Lovers!
IF you haven't already done so, then your really need to write your congressman/woman, and urge them to support H.R.1639
(Latest Title: Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2011). This is the legislation that needs to pass in order to prevent the FDA from gaining control over imported cigars ....... total control. We need to let our representatives know that we do not want the FDA meddling in our humidors.
I urge everyone to to let your representative hear from you, concerning this matter. Our personal freedoms are already being eroded away on a near daily basis. We need this bill to pass, to help stop this craziness.
Join me in letting congress know how we feel about this matter. Look it up, do your research, and write, write, write your letters or e-mails so they know we do not want the FDA jacking around with our imported cigars.
Put it this way ... can you imagine having nothing but swisher sweets and Phillie Blunts to smoke? Now, I am not knocking anyone who likes these smokes, but personally, I believe I should have a choice and be able to enjoy a Macanudo, Fuente or Cohiba when I get ready, in the privacy of my home, car, or outdoors away from others.
Get busy and get active. The future of importing cigars is most definitely at stake!
Thanks

Never had a 601 Blue Label, but the ol' 1970 Joya de Nic Antano is one butt kicker!
Those and the (discontinued) Perdomo Sun Growns are probably the two strongest (but in a good way) I have ever tried. Loved them both!
Great pickin's .....
i hear that, i like to keep around a $10 cap per cigar as i have found many around $5 that imo are just as good as most any high prices cigars i have smoked and it fits my budget much better,,,;)
truly enjoy your next smoke my friend
ever try any of these? 1st time around for me

Agree completely. I've never had a 'bad one' as is sometimes the case with some other normally truly good cigars. The last time I 'invested' what I considered real money in a cigar ($20+) it was a total bomb ..... that never has happened with these little babies.
Wish it weren't so cold out ....... I'm feeling that need ...... LOL
One of my favorites as well, not a bad price for what your getting either imo
I try to smoke at least one a week as i like to keep at least 50 cigars on hand at all time and always ordering a few here and there ever month
I enjoy picking out a morning and evening cigar every day,,,;)
Arturo Fuente Short Story
http://www.famous-smoke.com/arturo+fuente+short+story+5+pack+cigars/item+18681
Nah ... leave 'em for me! LOL
Mmmmm, enjoying the smoke through your write up of it! Thanks GP.
I have NOT had a good smoke in a while. Really need to get off my butt and order me up some smooth cigars to go with all the fine scotch I have!
Thought I'd just take a minute to pay some well deserved respects to what is a great little smoke - the Fuente Hemmingway "Short Story". Enoyed one of these little 4 X 48 'jewels' yesterday afternoon, and realized, yet again, just how good this litle smoke really is. Peppery, leathery and earthy ... and it just keeps on giving all the way through. Draw is always smooth, and burn is even. Go ahead and exhale a little shot of the smoke out through your nose ... and appreciate that dynamite can come in small packages.
Grab one and give it a try. I'm sure you'll like it if you aren't already familiar with this one, and if you are, then re-visit and savor the flavors ... a good solid 30 - 40 minutes of pure cigar pleasure.
Good post .. but I can claim only four .......
I seldom agree with CA's assessments anyway. They're always too biased toward the Cubans, and I am of the firm belief that 1) the best makers/growers/blenders left Cuba to go somewhere they could make some money and 2) Cuban tobacco farmers have worn out their soils by their inefficient and excessive farming of back-to-back-to-back plantings.
The climate is important, but so are the soils, and they haven't given their's a rest since Castro took over.
Enjoyed a Fuente made Cuesta Rey Centro-Fino today. Dominican product and smooth as a new born baby's arse. Have never had a Cuban that was any better, in all honesty, once the 'forbidden fruit' intrigue is thrown out of the eval.
Sort of like women ............. LOL

Oh man, I have been 'hampered' here by the weather, but have managed to have a few good ones. You're right about 'burning one, some day together ...
If more folks would take time to sit down and have a good cigar together, there'd be fewer problems in the world today, for sure.
I remember an ad campaign for Honda (They were exporting us nothing but their small motorcycles back then) with the slogan "You meet the nicest people on Honda" ... I think we could paraphrase it and say "You meet the nicest people over a good cigr" or something similar.
Be safe and enjoy this 'great' weather! Spring is just down the street and around a couple of corners! LOL
Man, I need a cigar BAD! I have been going through so much crap lately, i need time to sit back and smoke a few good ones to mellow my brain. Sipping some cognac right now, only because I forgot to get ice for my scotch.
We need to share a cigar one day GP! I am hoping to go to Vegas again in a few months, I am going to go cigar crazy!
A young boy goes up to his father and asks him "Dad, what is the difference
between 'potentially' and 'realistically'?" He pondered for a moment, then
answered "Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million
dollars. Then ask your sister if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a
million dollars, and then ask your brother if he'd sleep with Brad Pitt for
a million dollars. Come back and tell me what you learn from that".
So the boy went to his mother and asked "Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for
a million dollars?" Mum replied "Of course I would! We could really use that
money to fix up the house and send you kids to a great University!"
The boy then went to his sister and asked "Would you sleep with Brad Pitt
for a million dollars?" His sister replied "Oh my Gawd! I LOVE Brad Pitt I
would sleep with him in a heartbeat, are you nuts?"
The boy then went to his brother and asked "Would you sleep with Brad Pitt
for a million dollars?" "Of course" the brother replied. "Do you know what a
million bucks would buy?"
The boy thought about the answers for a few days and then went back to his
dad. His father asked him "Did you find out the difference between
'potentially' and 'realistically'?" The boy replied "Yes. 'Potentially' you
and I are sitting on three million dollars... but 'realistically' we're
living with two sluts and a queer.
The 'Decade" has gotten some pretty damn good reviews. I'd say you were very fortunate to have a friend willing to share ....
I consider myself very fortunate when anyone shares with me!
Get yourself a little black book! LOL
You can rate them with stars and comment on how good they were.
We're still talking about cigars, now, Brad. ( :
I got some of those, but I honestly can't remember if I tried one yet. Guess I'm gonna have to start writing myself notes on the cigars I smoke. LOL
Man, am I one lucky son of a bitch, Brad!
I thought I had timed my last cigar to coincide with the last nice day we were going to have here. But then, this warm spell hit and it's going to be pretty nice and here I am with nothing to smoke.
I asked a guy at work yesterday who I occasionally give a cigar to if he had an extrao one on hand and he did. He gave it to me today.
It's a Rocky Patel Decade! LOLOL!
It's a pretty dang good smoke, for sure. You better get on out and grab a few, or order them from CI. Gonna be too damn cold to stay out long enough to enjoy one pretty soon!
Damn GP, that review made my mouth water, and now I got a hankering for a good smoke, but I got NOTHING, so thanks alot for driving me crazy. Will need to hit the shop tomorrow and pick up some sticks.
The K. Hansotia Cuban Legacy
Tried a new smoke today, the "Cuban Legacy", a Dominican made cigar by the man behind the Gurkha juggernaut, Kaizid Hansoti. This particular stick was a Belicoso shape. The pre-light aroma was so-so, with a promise of some posibly stout toacco tastes dominating the entire smoke. The cigar was a bit rough, with some prominent veins showing in the wrapper, a Nicaraguan.
I was surprised the stick started out so mildly. There was plenty of smoke, but not really much body. A silvery colored ash begn to form, and by the time a half inch was gone, the flavors had started developing. The first half stayed mild, but sported some good earthy tones with a bit of coffee bean flavor. Once the second half started, the flavors of good cured tobacco dominated, but weren't overpowering. The coffee bean flavors diminished. Some peppery tastes were evident, and remained in evidence through the remainder of the smoke. I 'nubbed' it, as the final few draws were just outstanding. The finish was lingering and very pleasant.
All in all, it was pretty well constructed, but did require a couple of 'touch-ups' on the burn. I'd have to rate the cigar as a "89", and hope I can have the opportunity to enjoy another. It was a good smoke and a very pleasurable way to pass an hour or so, watching the rain fall and admiring the hues of the autumn foliage from my patio.
If you have the opportunity to try the "Cuban Legacy", I would recommending taking advantage of it.
Yeppers .... and then a 'buddy' shows up the next morning and throws a cold one at you at 0700 in the morning and you drink it down like you mean it ....
Ah the wisdom of youth .......
A store recently opened called The husband Store where women could purchase a
husband. It had six floors with each subsequent floor being better then the
last. Women could buy any husband they saw in any floor. However, they could
only visit the store once and once they left a floor they couldn't return to
that floor except to leave. A woman walks in to the 1st floor and sees a sign
that says "Men with Jobs". She decides to try the second floor and sees a
sign that says " Men with great jobs and good with kids". Still not quite
content she decides to go to the third floor. There she saw a sign that said
"Men with great jobs, good with kids, and helps around the home." a little
more excited she moves on up to the next floor. On the fourth floor there was
a sign that said, "Men with great jobs, good with kids, helps around the
home, and are very handsome." Ethusiatic now she goes to the fifth floor.
There the sign stated, "Men with great jobs, good with kids, helps around the
home, very handsome, and are very romantic." Totally excited now she races to
the sixth floor. There she finds a sign that says, "You are the 32,892,432nd
woman to visit this floor, there are no men on this floor. This floor exists
solely to prove that women can not be pleased."
To be fair, the owner of the store builds a Wife Store across the street with
the same rules. On the first floor there are "Gorgeous Women", then second
floor "Gorgeous women who love to have sex", the 3rd thru 6th floors have
never been visited!
Can't argue with you on that! Remember the days when you would drink a 6-pack to PREPARE for going out and partying, to wake you up? Those were the days.
A beer hangover on Monday from Saturdy night? Dude, you're showing your age ... LOL
Hey there GP and other cigar smokers! Back from playing around in the desert out West. I only smoked a few cigars, my buddies Acids. Will be reading past posts to see what is good out there, a new smoke shop opened up near me!
I did drink a LOT of beer on Saturday night. Still have a twinge of a hangover.
Yeah, but I have had some enjoyable smokes on days when the rain is slowly falling, especially after a long dry spell.
True. But not ideally so. ( ;
Amen ...and the sun is really optional. LOL
As long as it's not too breezy and the sun's shining, anytime is a nice time for a good cigar. Right?
Hey, I never figured you had. I've been pretty tied up the past couple weeks myself. This morning was my first chance to really kick back and have a good quiet smoke. In the past two weeks, I have totaled out a car (some jerk crossed the center line into my lane), and have been dealing with a lot of spousal medical issues.
So I have had plenty of other things to occupy my mind!
Take your time. Take care of your business. It is the 'slow' season anyway, for herfing!
Be safe. I now realize how quickly something can happen! Luckily, I had one very small scrape on the ol' noggin, which is my least vulnerable area! LOL
I haven't forgotten about you, I've just been unexpectedly busy. I'll try to get them sent off to you this coming week.
Yeppers .... had that hot coffee, complete with the sweater, this morning with my smoke. What a beautiful morning, made even better by a good (albiet cheap) cigar. Those Joya del Jefe's aren't bad at all. I'm getting ready for my second order. One of the best 'dollar sticks' I've found to date.
Ah, yes, but unlike women, cigars never backtalk! LOL
So many cigars.....
....so little time.
These aren't really coffee flavored ... like the ones from Drew Estate... The tobaccos just have a hint of cofffee flavor, and chocolate.
I can see right now ... you got try a Partagas Black ...LOL
they actually do have tastes of chocolate and coffee (espresso?)
Aaaahhh, I DO like coffee flavored cigars, as we all know.
I can't honestly tell you I know if I smoke any others. The Cusanos are the only ones I know of without thinking about it. ( :
I like them in the mornings with a cup of coffee ... but they're way overhyped and over priced.
No sir, for some reason I could just never develop a taste for those.
You like the Mac's?
That's one of the only Connecticut shade smokes I still enjoy.
Actually, they are pretty darn good .... they actually do have tastes of chocolate and coffee (espresso?) .. and you smoke them s l o w l y ...
They are definitely for after a good meal .....
A place to chill, smoke up a fine cigar, have a nice adult beverage, and talk about ANYTHING that suits your fancy, from stocks,
to politics, to venting, to recipes
All are welcome! Sit back, vent about the market, vent about politics, vent about your team, your wife, your husband, all while puffing on a nice cigar, and drinking your favorite adult beverage!
