Just for clarity...
UPS and FedEx have fewer than 10% of their fleets on natural gas.
Someone might think they were converting 100% of their vehicles to Nat gas.
The problem as you say is really about the economy and the falling price of oil / diesel. Four or five years ago diesel was selling for $4.00 a gallon. Today under $2.50 a gallon. Opec has said oil needs to be aprox. $60.00 a barrel which would make diesel around $2,75 to 2.90 a gallon. If this level is achieved I can guarantee you many more will make the switch over to NatGas as the saving in fuel will push this process forward. That is why the two biggest truckers, UPS and FedEx are making this switch.
More will follow as testing continues and numbers are crunched.
Trucks are the cake. The rest is nice icing. The company didn't run up all that debt building stations for passenger vehicles. We've been hearing about the WPRT engines for how long? This is where the problem has been. CLNE has done a nice job developing other revenue streams while waiting for those engines to hit the market but shareholders won't see a lot of movement in PPS until the NG powered trucks start tanking at stations that are currently built but in mothballs. Just my opinion.
Don't my otm options count???
Covered a bunch under $2.50, but still hold a few which I plan to cover under $2.00. I can afford to play with these... It's been a great few years.
Yeah, I know!
Price to book at .68 is crazy!
Take a position one way or the other Jack, commentary from non stakeholders is worthless to me.

BOARD MEETING DATE: April 7, 2017 AGENDA NO. 4 PROPOSAL:
Recognize Revenue and Execute Contracts to Demonstrate Zero and Near-Zero Emission Drayage Trucks and Cargo Handling Equipment
Proposal
This action is to recognize, upon receipt, up to $10,000,000 from CEC and execute contracts for the following projects. The projects described below are based on the applicants’ proposals and specifications may change as the designs are finalized.
Clean Energy
Clean Energy is the leading provider of natural gas for transportation in North America, both in number of stations and gallons sold per year with nearly two decades of experience in developing and implementing natural gas fueling solutions for high volume fleet customers. Clean Energy, in partnership with Cummins Westport Inc. (CWI), a leading developer of spark-ignited automotive natural gas engines for commercial transportation applications, will repower 20 Class 8 drayage trucks with the CWI pre-commercial near-zero natural gas engines that are capable of meeting the optional 0.02 grams per brake horsepower per hour (g/bhp-hr) NOx standard, for demonstration in real-world service throughout the Basin. The CWI near-zero engine reduces emissions well below current standards while providing comparable performance to the diesel baseline technology, with both NOx and ROG at 90% below the standards. In addition, with renewable natural gas to be provided by Clean Energy, the near-zero engines are expected to achieve as much as 80% in GHG reductions as well.
The proposed drayage truck repower project by Clean Energy will provide opportunities for fleets to test the CWI near-zero engine in their own operations to prove its reliability and performance. Successful demonstration will lead to widespread adoption of the near-zero emission natural gas trucks by fleets, providing significant reductions in NOx and other criteria pollutant emissions from drayage trucking operations. In addition, utilization of renewable natural gas in this project will achieve considerable benefits in GHG reductions as well.

Hope you are ready for a big run. I said some time back we'd see over $3.00 a share by June. That could be on the low side.
KUDOS to CLNE ...
They actually did a deal... I was having my doubts.
We sold a limb to save the body....For a while...
Thats pretty funny , Krays. Their probably isn't anyone on this board that could work the gears on a 10speed rockwell or 13 speed eaton with a splitter.
No trucks for me..
Lovin' my BMW i8 electric.

Jack imo, if you weren't shorting stocks on an uptrend, you just might be able to get yourself one of these class 8 NGV's.
Correct. T Boone has always said its diesel for TRUCKS. Preferably bigger trucks class 6 -8. Buses, refuse trucks, and construction equipment that run on diesel. Some years back the argument was about battery power. Totally inapproiate for transportation with current technology. Just thought I'd put that to rest before it started.
A wise man said don't drink and drive. It also applies to posting or twitting.
NG isn't going to be big in passenger vehicles. It's the trucks. That last point was funny.
B/C Adds another 19 Busses to the 25 already in Service, also Reporting 6% Decrease in Operating Costs per Trip and a 8% Operating Cost recovery increase in 2015/2016. They now are operating 100% Nat Gas Transit.. NGT News.. Good Day..
Ndakota
They Just Keep Coming.. I Don't see any slowing 60+ stations in 2016, with another 60+ in 2017, The 18 wheelers are on there way and when that starts flowing, there will be No looking Back.. You Have to Love when a Plan comes together.. Good Day Ndakota
Ndakota
A 20 cent delta??? How many decades will you have to drive to cover the $50,000 extra for an NGV.
TOP REASONS NO-ONE DRIVES AN NGV!
1. They cost too much compared to a conventional car.
2. The car will be more than 10 years old before you recover the added costs.
3. Range anxiety….You can run out of fuel hundreds of miles from the nearest station.
4. Lack of infrastructure (see above).
5. You give up most of the trunk.
6. You give up all of the resale value.
7. And the most important reason: I have lost so much money on this stock, “I can’t afford bus fare, let alone the added cost for an NGV. !!!
Keep a close eye on oil. The higher it goes, so goes CLNE
http://www.cpbj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20170330/CPBJ01/170329777/shipley-energy-opens-york-countys-first-public-cng-station&template=mobileart
Added a few this morning on the 50DMA breach.
Oil moves higher and look what the pps of CLNE does. Will we see sixty dollar a barrel oil soon?
Yes, I noticed that, and also noted the Ryder logo.
The 400k is referencing a California ARB estimate for California only and that's a lot of trucks jack!
did you notice the decal on the wind deflector just above the drivers door. Very important little detail about this engine. Its a 400hp engine. That makes it suitable for any class 8 application.
I believe the 400k number is for California only.
"CARB has estimated that ultra-clean GNG engine is technologically and economically feasible to deploy nearly 400,000 heavy-duty natural gas trucks by 2030."
https://www.trucks.com/2017/03/23/los-angeles-cummins-low-emissions-natural-gas-engine/
totally, no doubt. Watch when the economy starts to pickup even more. More freight to haul more carriers decide on new equipment. That cmi engine is way ahead of everyone else.
It also falls on the Advance in Tech which is the new Eng. Out of WPRT/CMI. Full available in 2018, Trucker will be Serious with Converting to Nat Gas. We have watched all others Moving in that Direction for Years with the Near Zero for the smaller Vehicles, Busses, Waste,(which Continue to switch.) UPS, Fed Ex, It's all coming. Good Day..
Ndakota
Ah..., But DIESEL IS AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE.
Good luck finding CNG...Or worse, LNG.
TRUCKING COMPANIES HAVE ALREADY DONE THE MATH.
This is why unit sales are falling.
Truckers are a conservative group. They tend to operate on thin margins, as you say, and need to keep their trucks moving and loaded to turn a profit. You've heard me say many times that 90% of the cost of operating a truck is fuel and labor, with fuel being close to 50% of that cost.
Reduce almost 50% of fuel cost by 30% and one can understand why NatGas could prove to be a very attractive alternative to diesel fuel. If OPEC has its way a barrel of oil will be sixty a barrel, which will make this switch over much more attractive. With oil at its current price the switch could be questionable. One needs to look to the future and our countries 100 year supply of NatGas and decide.
Interesting. This from page 7: While interested in attractive fuel cost differentials and demand of cleaner transportation from customers, the trucking industry has to date been reluctant to take the plunge on expensive equipment upgrades to natural gas. The logistics sector operates on thin margins and tight schedules and fueling station density is a critical issue. Barring large incentives, the conversion of heavy duty fleets to a new fuel is unlikely to take place rapidly because only 200,000 to 240,000 new vehicles come on the road each year. At present only 14% of fleets operate any vehicles on alternative fuels22. Fleet owners worry that supply chains for natural gas vehicles are not yet sufficiently robust to avoid higher maintenance costs than traditional diesel vehicles.
My understanding is that the ROI on a new engine is about 2 years and that there are a lot of companies out there with aging fleets. I read this quite some time ago and will do some research.
Just in case you need more weekend reading material.

Significant comments posted to ports of LA and Long Beach Clean Air Action Plan. Recommended reading -Clean Energy Fuels, Westport, and UCLA study. All the comments are interesting and I fully anticipate plan revisions to include Near Zero and RNG technologies adoption.
More than 14,000 trucks per day move through these ports and they are a high priority opportunity for CLNE/WPRT

The Truth of slowing sales was indicated in the post By Karay, and many have stated the testing everyone has done was Good and the Tech. has advanced to produce the 12L Low Nox CWI Eng. Run with RNG it's like Running a Electric Vehicle. To be Ready for all or any Orders 2018... 18 wheelers here we Come, The Best of the Best is what they have been looking for and it is on it's way. CLNE will be in the Best position they've Ever been in, LOOOOW to Possible No Debt. With Stations to Accomidate. any and all.... It is going to be fun to see all the Fruits of there Labor...Good Day..
Ndakota
The Trend on a chart can change and often do. The Company CLNE Has shown Growth in Gallons Delivered, Stations Building, and has never looked Better with Bringing down Debt. Well until next Quarter. Nobody that follows CLNE is looking for The Car Conversion... It is all about Truckers, Busses, Trash Trucks, Trains, Cement Trucks. It's all Coming My Truck is only 1/2 for but filling Quickly...Good Day...
Ndakota
But when you factor in the added cost of the equipment and the number of years to pay off the added costs... The savings might not be worth the trouble.
This may explain why NGV sales are slowing.
The two biggest costs of operating a commercial truck, aprox 90%, is fuel and labor. As we have heard from Mr. Littlefair many trucking companies have been testing LNG and CNG units for the past number of years. UPS and FedEx have been introducing NatGas power into their systems for the past couple of years. Many other carriers have done the same. ALL FOR ONE REASON. It improves their bottom line.
As we move forward more companies will make the switch. This is going to be fun to watch, imo.
GL to all longs, glad you're on board.
Republic just got new Cng trucks here in my neighborhood.
Driver said adding trucks monthly
Vehicle sales numbers are important, but not those vehicle sales numbers. I want to know what's going on with long haul truck with nat gas engine sales. When those trucks star filling up, CLNE will be doing well.
Jack, your point that with all of the positive developments the stock price might temporarily rise a bit but just keeps getting beaten back down is a good one. I view UPS, Fed Ex and public transportation more as icing on a cake, the cake being those long haul tractors fueling up on the Natural Gas Superhighway. We have plenty of icing here. I haven't seen any cake.
LOOK AT THE 3 YEAR CHART....
ANYONE NOTICE A TREND?
THE TREND IS MY FRIEND.
And near-zero sales in the other 49 states.
Add tens of thousands in Ca due to these new regs.
Near zero with RNG heavily endorsed by CARB
http://www.aqmd.gov/home/library/public-information/2017-news-archives/clean-air-blueprint-for-southland-adopted-by-carb
Add one Honda CNG Civic....
My local Honda dealership dealer sold one....WOW!!!
These new engines are going to sell like no others. CWI is the leader by far. One benefit that no one is talking about is the reduced cost of maintenance. Time between overhauls is 30% longer. Oil changes are extended. All this with no loss of power. As you can see much much cleaner and better for our environment.

Our Mission
Clean Energy is changing the way the world fuels its vehicles. Energy independence is an undisputed goal for our nation, and we at Clean Energy know just how realistic and attainable that goal is with natural gas fuel. Moving forward in our thinking as well as in our vehicles means a safer, healthier planet for all of us. This change is already happening. Natural gas is abundant and domestically available and is already used as a cleaner source of energy around the world. - See more at: https://www.cleanenergyfuels.com/about-us/#sthash.xIy4zrGL.dpuf
Clean Energy Fuels’ company growth over the decades has been marked with risk and reward, and always defined by passion. Entrepreneur and energy pioneer T. Boone Pickens and current Clean Energy President and CEO Andrew Littlefair had a vision they felt could change this country for the better.
The idea behind natural gas fuel is two-fold, and Americans hear a lot about both of its main benefits: a greener planet and energy independence. Like all paradigm-shifting ventures, Pickens’ company started relatively small and grew with consistency that proved he wasn’t just “onto something.” He was putting in motion a company that is instrumental in making the change that so many of us talk about.
