tomorrow should be interesting, will be buying any dip to .30 or a strong break of .35 ,

I hear you about the AMEX... to be honest its like one of the better thigns ive seen...
Its really kind of different almost hard to belive to go from Our Street bashing cross international intrique to listing on AMEX
if i loose every penny, at least I was happy enough to guess that that the company was legit and that they want to produce good products for good cause... almost makes me want to belive in stock market again...
alas, for one day at least we can celebrate a good thing
congrats to all that hung in there...
so anyways show up at HIV if you like!

Yes, the press release on 8/16 says...
...Calypte's common stock is expected to commence trading on the Amex under the symbol "HIV" on Wednesday, August 18, 2004.
This will be a new experience for me. I've never witnessed a graduation onto the AMEX, or any other exchange for that matter.

Mike. Just saw the aerial view of Sanibel and Captiva. Do you know of South Seas Plantation on the North tip of Captiva ? MOST of the one family buildings are a total loss. The Condos lost roofing including plywood. Some buildings now look like a doll house with the Gulf side wall completely gone At least CYOT is up 8 cents today.
Chuckerfmfla
Chucker, Good to see you are safe and sound. I know Sanibel and Captiva got hammered. I was pleased by the news this morning on CYPT. It was good to see them get off the OTC. I am in at .80 so I have a little ways to go and may average down again soon before the transfer. Stay safe. Mike VV
WOW. Just come back online to find that we are moving to the AMEX under a GREAT ticker symbol H I V . Great thinking by management. Have been down since no power on 6-13-04 at 2:40 p.m. thanks to huricane Charley. Still have no power at home and am over to my son's home. Tough with no power or A/C when the temperature gets up over 90 degrees. At least Fort Myers is a LOT better off than Port Charlotte or Punta Gorda, They are about wiped out including Churches, fire stations, etc.

I don't know what they purchased these shares for, but if they want to receive the dollars listed here, they will not want to dilute anymore shares.
Diluting is a method of paying for expenses. If they begin selling product soon, the company can begin using income to sustain the operations of the company.

I think you're a little low on your calculations for pps of $3.75.
When you used gross sales for Orasure and net profit for Calypte, you compared apples to oranges.
If you use the NASD financials, it shows Orasure gross earnings for the first half of 2004 at 25M. Multiply x 2, and it comes to 50M for the whole year. Your figure was 70M.
Looking at Calypte....
Using your estimate of 50M kits (50M x 4 countries = 200M) at a price of at least $2.00 per kit, that's 400M gross sales. That's 8 x bigger than Orasure.
Orasure is trading at $5.34 / share on 37.7M outstanding shares. Right now the stock is trading at about 4x earnings.
If Calypte's gross sales were at 400M and the os is 168M, using the same valuation of 4x earnings, Calypte would be trading at $8.30 / share.
Back in June, Osure was trading at over $10.00 / share, the valuation at that time was 7.4 x earnings.
Using the same valuation of 7.4 for Calypte, the price would be $17.62 / share.
My own opinion... all of us are going to be glad we invested in Calypte

Assuming best case

At .25c/kit to 3.0/kit, profit
a) 4 countries at .25c/kit profit =$ 50M/year, orasure is at 70mil

So at max best case etc... $ 600M/160M shares ~ $ 3.75/shr

Does the er on chuck-er come from New Jersey? You know how the "r" is pronounced in words from that region. My daughter's name is Dana and her friend from NJ calls her Daner.
Just a guess...

I think your right about the stock going flat after the cc. This is going to be a longer road than any of us want, but I'm tied up in this for the long haul. If I sold now it would be at quite a loss.
When I think about CYPT...
I like the idea of OTC.
I like the affordable price, so africa can have testing.
I like selling in China and Russia etc.
I like AMEX, and maybe NY or NASD
I like Dr. George coming over from Orasure.
I like it that we are finally begining to sell.
I like the Incidence test.
But I also do not like the possibility of...
Lack of govt. funding for aids/hiv testing & treating.
Any kind of delay in licensing.
The length of time for FDA approval.
Delay in China.
Terrorist bombings.
Economy going down.
Fuel shortages.
80M
etc....
All of this I don't have any control over, but I do have control of my position in this stock.
I can choose to stay or leave.
If I made the right decision or not, remains to be seen.
This is the hardest way to make money if you ask me. There are so many surprises, things you never think of, and so much I don't understand.
MMs are a mystery. How will tomorrow play out? Will investors have confidence in this company? What will the competition do?
I just look at it every week day and try to understand a little more.
For now the answer for me is; stay and be patient.
sower
Thats very good,
I did not read it that way. I guess that would make more sense that they would want 3 million treated... I've not thought of it that way.
About MM, trying to buy up shares before the AMEX switch. I hate allways to be a wet blanket. But they have 80M shares to pic from...
My fear sort of is now that , after the CC the news may be good ie sales of something in 4th and 1st o5... which if it was normal company would be great...
But with all the bad press, and all the bad market happenings, I wonder if the 'good' news may go unoticed...
It really is going to depend on sales, and that will be easy to indentify..

You probably read the post on RB about the WHO...
Global Business Coalition and WHO Expert Meeting
"The Need to Know": Accelerating Access to Testing
2-6pm, Ballroom 3, Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok, 10 July 2004
Currently, of the 6 million people in need of antiretroviral therapy, only 400,000 have access to these life-saving medicines.1 Conscious of the mounting crisis, the World Health Organization and UNAIDS launched the “3 by 5” Initiative in early 2003 to focus on a measurable target of bringing 3 million people on treatment by the end of 2005.
To fill this gap the GBC estimates that in 75 weeks following the XV International AIDS Conference in Bangkok, an equivalent of 5,000 people will need to be brought onto treatment every day.2 In order to reach this number 500,000 people will need to be tested each day. This is based on the estimate that 50,000 will test positive in hard hit areas averaging a 10% HIV prevalence.3 Of those who test positive, it is projected that 10% will require immediate initiation of treatment.
The 3 by 5 Initiative will not succeed without a dramatic scale up of access to testing and a clear signal from the pubic health community that HIV testing is strongly recommended. The challenge is enormous but attainable with increases in funding from donor governments, reductions in drug and diagnostic pricing, integration of public-private delivery of healthcare and overarching shifts in policy.
-----------------------------------
If I'm reading your post "its even worse...." right you are not happy with the amount of testing that will be done.
The way I understand the 3x5 is that the 3M are those who are "treated" and in order to treat that many you have to "test" 500,000 per day.
That is a much higher figure than I anticipated.
Hopefully, we will hear more about this tomorrow at the cc.

I remember a few weeks ago when the price was moving up to .70 cents, the MMs were climbing on top of each other on the bid to buy as many shares as they could. Very bullish.
The buying on the ask is what fueled it. I imagine when you see the orders coming in and your a MM you can tell what nature the buys are. They can sense if a buyer is desparate to get shares or is the buyer reserved and calculated.
I know what I have experienced, when I was chasing shares. I put an order in and didn't get a fill. I would cancel the order and raise the limit higher.
They see all this behind the scenes.
We just haven't had the kind of buying that is willing to chase the price.
Also...
I wonder what happens when MMs have been shorting a stock on the BB and the company changes to a major exchange like the AMEX.
I think if I was a MM and I needed to cover I would want the pps to go lower so I could buy all my shares before the switch took place. When a company graduates to a major exchange you probably won't see those prices again.
Just a thought...
sower
Sower. Thanks for the info. " The last 3 days , the buyers have out numbered the sellers by 2 to 1 " Seems strange the PPS has not tracked. Stock went down 3 cents on Monday and up 3 cents on Tuesday. Today, down a 1/2 cent.

thats 3 million people by 2005
thats way to little as far well profits,,,
not to mention the amount of people that are still not going to be taken care off
Declaring the inability of the poor to obtain HIV/AIDS medications "a global health emergency," the director-general of the UN's World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Lee Jong-wook, launched a global drive to provide life-extending ARVs to 3 million people, including 2 million in Africa, by the end of 2005. It is known as the "3x5" campaign.

It was my understanding that 3x5 means 3 million people total in 5 years...(pitiful amount)
I'm not sure about the 500,000 per day... Hope your right but I dont belive the numbers is that high..
I scanned the 10qsb, it looks they are off to Africa first.
Mid August is the incident test, ELISA Incident... thats a copy of cdc ...
They plan to start to market product in 4th qtr, thats Africa first then Asia and Russia, and sounds like China, Russia are out 6 to 12 months. Not sure how much cash they have ...
WIll they issue more registered shares, I donno.

In today's news release there is a paragraph that addresses quantity of tests and the size of the market.
Current HIV/AIDS Testing
A May 2004 report by the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GBC), based on their own estimates and that of the World Health Organization (WHO), disclosed that less than 10% of infected individuals in the developing world know their HIV status. According to the report, new infections are on the rise, and only 400,000 of the 6 million people in need of antiretroviral therapy have access to these life saving medicines. Testing for HIV serves as an entry point for both prevention and treatment. The objective of treating 3,000,000 people by the end of 2005, the stated goal of the WHO "3 by 5" Initiative, would require that 500,000 people will need to be tested each day.
The WHO wants to "treat" 3M by 2005. I was thinking they wanted to "test" not "treat".
It looks like they have a far bigger market than I was thinking.
500,000 people tested each day is huge, that's 182M per year.
That's only the WHO, that doesn't include the countries that can afford to buy the tests themselves.
I know we won't get the whole amount but we might get the lions share of it.
After all, we have the least expensive tests on the market.
sower

Hello,
“…. Question about total anticipated gross sales … “
“…. He may choose not to answer that question… “
About these questions, I would imagine someone in the accounting/ceo position would want to know what the product demand would be. For them to just build products out of fancy makes no sense. Maybe I am not reading this right. But I would think they know where their market is and how big it is… One would certainly hope they know that. When I went to market my product that’s the first question they asked me, how big is your market segment and whom to you propose to sell your stuff… So I guess I am not sure why they would not have those numbers readily available…
Incidence Test,
CDC I am sure used it but they no longer want to produce it. They specifically said that product generated significant inquiries, there has to be a reason why they are saying that. So again, they would have that data one would hope. If they don’t want to share any of this data due to some sort of strategic business decision I can understand that too.
Pps
Well, its good to see they understand that previous type of prs have not done much for the co. Maybe the new investment apart from being a secured loan for investors, is also precursor for AMEX. Someone mentioned that AMEX listing requires you having cash in bank ie investors forking over dollars. So if that’s the big plan, then great otherwise, its only I think, expensive way to finance their business. On the other hand they have no other choice, no one is really buying the shares straight up.
The 10q coming up is probably not going to show a big sale thing, it would be interesting to see if there are more institutions calling in like Oppenheimer or Dutton. That would be a good sign too.
This is probably the best summary:
“He expects the price to move when there is a complete sales cycle of the products. A cycle meaning: license of product, manufacturing, shipping, and check in the bank.”
So again I only thing this will move when profits come in.
Thanks again for keeping tabs with TC. I never call.
TTYL
flavius...
I talked to Tim today, he said he would put the question about total anticipated gross sales on the list for Dr. George to answer at the next cc.
He (Dr. George) may choose not to answer that question, we will just have to wait and see.
I also asked about previous sales of the Incidence test. He told me that no one has had a worthy Incidence test to sell up to this point. Only Calypte will have a properly functioning test for the International and national markets.
Keep in mind that I didn't write his words down, so all the things that I'm telling you here are just my own understanding of what he said.
In regard to why the pps is not moving, he said that investors have had enough info about the products, but just need to see some earnings to have some movement.
He expects the price to move when there is a complete sales cycle of the products. A cycle meaning: License of product, manufacturing, shipping, and check in the bank.
I hope we see upward movement before that, but at this point I am willing to wait for the cycle to be complete.

Questions,
NO thank God I was not in last r/s, I got caught up with LOI and SEC...$ 1.50 and down...
To be honest I did not expect anything out of this, Dr. George was as I said the turning point to this situation, sales or no sales. At least I dont fell like a complete fool for hanging on... He is doing what is expected, good products, and marketing as they can get it...
The financial situation and 3rd party .40c lenders is what is an concern. Non withstanding the dilution the 80M as you've described...
The other question about the MM's plays, to be honest, I dont get it fully, find it interesting, just seem like your doing a lot of work. So I appreciate the effort, I dont understand how its benefiting me, but I find it interesting.
Hope that helps. Thanks for keeping tabs with TC... The profits is the only thing that I think will move this, and well I dont know who needs CDC Incident test, they said in CC"s thats a big demand... well i would like to see them start selling it and see 'what' the 'big' demand is ... thats like a litmus test if this thing is truly wanted the prices should go up and we'll know they have estimated properly. On the other hand CDC feels fine with cypt making the product so thats an endorsement as it its. Granted its a non inclusive license but still... a positive thing...
Thanks for listening to my rants and good luck...
I'll try to get some estimate of sales from Tim on Monday.
I tried to call him today but couldn't get him.
flavius, did you say you were in the last r/s?
flavius, chucker
Just a question.
Are these numbers usefull to you guys?
If not, I can stop or, if you think they are useful, I'll continue.
sower
valuation...
Thanks for trying to figure this out in more realistic approach, I was just using the gut ball approach...
Stock dilution vs no sales approach, coming of r/s and dubios marketing procedures before DR. George.
"So, I think it's reasonable to expect to see $2.00 to $4.00 for the pps when sales are 50M to 70M.
How many kits does it take to have gross profits like that?
They would have to sell at least 20M kits at $2.50 each to get to 50M"
WHO had 3 for 5 plan i think , that was like test 3 million people in 5 years... This is world health organization, they only want to test or are trying to test 3 million people..
3 by 5” is the global TARGET to get three million people living with HIV/AIDS in developing and middle income countries on antiretroviral treatment by 2005. It is a step towards the GOAL of providing universal access to treatment for all who need it as a human right.
http://www.who.int/3by5/en/
so gunning for 20M kits, china, india an africa, thailand etc...
Again, I'm just being very skeptical, to be honest at this time I'm very skeptical position for the future... hope very must that im wrong...
good luck thanks for info again...
Today's totals:
bid ....322,429 shares
mm' paid .....$142,116.51 for an average price of .44 cents
ask ....948,407 shares
retail price ....$424,483.20 for an average price of .447 cents
Today the mm' sold 625,978 more shares than they bought.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
mm' have sold approximately 2,284,178 more shares than the have bought, since 7/12/04
Just thinking outloud right now, maybe there are two factors 1. investors are holding on and, 2. mm' aren't buying.
Until we see investors willing to let go (higher pps or bad news) and mm' wanting to buy (so they can make a profit) things probably won't change.
sower
flavius...
I know your concern about sales filing all those shares, so I did a little comparison on the valuation of other stocks.
Here's what I found.....
---SYMBOL-------VALUATION
---------------------------------
---OSUR-------------8.06
---TRIB--------------1.62
---HIET-----------728.80
---CYPT------------21.04
---ABTG----------288.61
---MSFT-------------9.59
---APSG-------------4.07
The valuation is based on 2003 gross profits divided by outstanding shares using todays bid price.
----------------------------------------------------------------
If CYPT gross sales were the same as OSUR, and the pps was $2.00 the valuation would be about the same at 8.10. (I included the 80M shares in these figures)
So, I think it's reasonable to expect to see $2.00 to $4.00 for the pps when sales are 50M to 70M.
How many kits does it take to have gross profits like that?
They would have to sell at least 20M kits at $2.50 each to get to 50M.
Can they sell that many?
I'll get back to you.
