Any venison sausage tips/recipes out there? We process our own deer right down to the scrap bucket then pay to have the sausage made. We're looking for any ideas.
Thanks and good luck!
Started in IL Oct 1st. Haven't found time to get out yet. Been too hot too. Maybe before weekend I can slip out a morning or 2
Bow season starts here in Alabama this Wed. I have 2 ladder stands, and 5 climbers already placed.
I have not made it out yet but looking to sneak out early Friday afternoon and spend most the weekend hunting. Hope the temps stay in the 50's/60's.

Mix equal parts of baking soda, peroxide and Dawn dish soap- this actually removes the odor, not just masks it. This works well on dogs and since all of the ingredients are non-toxic, it should work on humans, as well.
Be sure you first put the baking soda, then the peroxide, so the soda can dissolve. Then add the dish soap. You can wash of with it. You can even handwash your clothes, using it as a detergent.

Work at a grooming shop-I have bathed many a skunk-sprayed dog!

http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/skunk.htm
When you're ready to wash the dog, only clean the sprayed area. Skunk spray is oily and can easily be spread all over the dog. You will most likely have to give the dog more than one bath, so save an all-over bath until the second or third washing.
How do I get the odor out?
It may be particularly hard to get the odor out of those dogs who have thick double coats. If quick action is not taken it is possible to smell the odor on your dog for up to two years, especially when the dog gets wet.
It is best to bathe your dog with a shampoo before the skunk's sulphuric spray dries on the fur. After bathing you can try some of the following methods...
Store bought De-Skunking Products
There are several products you can buy at the store to de-skunk your dog, which I think work best, but one does not always have them on hand when their dog gets sprayed.
Nature's Miracle Skunk Odor Remover
Earth Friendly Skunk Odor Remover
Tomato Juice or Mouthwash
A couple old methods used are saturating the dog's coat in tomato juice or mouthwash and than bathing the dog thoroughly with a canine shampoo. However the effectiveness of these methods are questionable and it is said that the tomato juice will leave your dogs coat all red.
Another Somewhat Effective Method
Paul Krebaum, a chemist, invented a new more effective formula for de-skunking a dog. Mix in an open bucket or bowl:
1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide
¼ cup baking soda
1 teaspoon of strong liquid soap such as dishwashing detergent.
Mix the ingredients in an open bucket or bowl. The mixture will fizz. Wet your dog and thoroughly massage the solution into the coat. Be sure to keep the mixture out of the dogs eyes, nose and mouth. If it is necessary to apply it to the dogs face, very carefully use a washcloth or a sponge. After applying the mixture to all parts of your dog that may have been sprayed, rinse the dog thoroughly.
*Warning*
This mixture can be explosive, as it will fizz and creates pressure if it is enclosed in a seal tight container. Never store unused portion, always discard. Be sure to only mix in an open container and do not try to store or cover it in any way. Do not get the mixture into the dog's eyes, nose or mouth.
I was always told to give them a bath using tomato juice, dont know if it works though.
heard that one.. Just reading on the net if its an old wives tale or truth.. All i know is i got some on my hand and washed like 10 times and the smell is still there...this sucks!
isn't tomato paste supposed to do the trick?
This is getting closer to being a shooter with my bow.
Heres some 1.5 year old deer that I believe I got pictures of last year as button heads hanging with their momma.
good man, that guy will be a PRIZE in another two years if you can stand to wait that long -
Yep, I got pictures of him as a six point last year. Not a shooter yet.
that dude's young, you gonna let him put another year or two on?
Moultries spy d40 are very inexpensive, priced around $89.00 each but I have never had any complains with the picture quality.
Already have my Moultrie cameras out.
Was a young one..looked bigger 30 yards out (and 20 feet up) lol
Was 6:30'ish (PM) ..eating acorns, strolling along. Got a great shot, shredded both lungs. I switched to crimson talon xt broadheads the day before ... im a 100% crimson talon user for life now. Love the way they fly, and love the damage they do...i think if you hit a deer in the leg with one of these they would die.

But yeah..should be mid to late October.
Thank you Sir!! Looking forward to shoving off in the AM
Funny that we'll be hunting in shorts and t-shirts this weekend!! Looking forward to the first frost we get down here.......
Good luck 4mars - a bit too warm here in southern Wisconsin for me to get out yet. Waiting for the temps to drop into the 50's. Hopefully next weekend.
Be safe and good luck again!
Where I'm hunting at in east Texas, our bow season starts Sat. Leaving in the morning to hunt hard all week end. Everything already set up and preparations have been made weeks in advance. LOL.........will let you know if all the prep pays off this week end. Good to hear others are out there making things happen!!
Congratulations Friend.....
nice work on the alterless harvest.....
Still hunting for mine myself.... I have seen 4 doe while on stand so far this hunting season..... I drew back on a pair the other morning but they were less than 10 yards and got spooked... to make a long story short....
...still working on mine.... hunting hard yet.....
Hey, on the bright side.... at least my stands are in good spots and I am seeing lots of deer.... I think hunting will improve considerably once the corn in harvested .... shouldn't be long now....
Good Luck on that monster....

( how soon is the rut where you are? ... about Nov 1st?)

when is dinner?
lol. check this out guys. crank it up!!
On design number 2, where is bar-buoy, and where is beer cooler fastened?
If all of the good names have been used up on prior pattents, might I suggest "The Dumb Duck Blind". With it, do you use a gun, slingshot, or dipnet? Or none at all.
Is it legal in your state to swim up under the ducks, gator style, and pull them down by the feet? Snorkel style hunt.
LC I have 2 unfinished blinds and a video on what not to build..
the first one just needs the camo screens installed
the second one is a one man portable blind (just add cattails)
this modern design didn't work out so well
Joe, beautiful job, can't wait to build my own. But do you have plans that are modified for those of us hunting in marshy areas? We need to use more naturally occurring blind materials to fool the more intelligent animals that live in the flat, highly human inhabited marshes. Something like a 30ft cabin cruiser, painted camo of course, instead of the squarish blind you used. Deck on air-floats maybe? Don't forget we will need bar buoys on the deck instead of standard tables to hold BCs without spill risks. Rod holders? Please email plans to .com, ASAP. Thanks LC
Joe.....LMAOOO^10.....That's an absolute classic. A must read for all hunting / outdoor enthusiasts!!! ;)
I have those instructions right here...

I'm trying to teach my GF how to bow hunt ~~> she's really testing my patience....
swapped in the redwings to break in my snakeboots here at the ofc today - no one's noticed yet so i guess i'm in the clear, LOl.
their little piggie brains set back a ways behind the eyes too.
on that little 70lb. piggie i say a mid body body shot behind the main vitals and that little piglet wouldnt go far with my .30-06. different story with a bigger pig.
Alright very good!! Back to Bow Hunting........LOL
The NFL announced today that for financial reasons, they had to eliminate one team from the league. So they've decided to combine the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and form one team, therefore saving jobs. They will be known as the TAMPACKS. Unfortunately, they're only good for one period and have no second string.

Q: What do you call 47 people sitting around a TV watching the Playoffs?
A: The Dallas Cowboys
Go Dallas, see ya'll at the Super Bowl!!!................Sorry just had to say it. (I hate Jerry Jones however, if that helps......LOL)
This is the exact Bow set up I bought from these guys a few weeks ago. The second bow package I've bought from them.

Wow, now that's a science class in anatomy...........Handle with care.
Without getting "too specific" this is the general area we Bow hunt in............(and where the "Big Hogs" are)
