THE PLAYER
(SSB) Player prototype will be released in summer more likely near IBC with ability to control original content ability(delete change etc.)
(I360) Q8. If, say, Google (AKA YouTube) wanted to use the BIRD player for videos that have already been created would that be possible?
A8. Yes, each video would be transcoded to a BIRD video format on the fly. This way, you would not need to re-code the entire library of content to the BIRD format.
COMPETITION?
(SSB) Likes of Cutting room are not cloud native and claims are not true - we are the only cloud native editor in a browser end of..
(I360) …but will not be accepted for global infrastructure deals of the likes that BIRD is currently engaged in trying to land).
Deals and OEMs
(SSB). OEMS are growing
(SSB) TATA are growing but very clear on NDA
(I360) Q9. Should we be concerned about the lack of news on deal flow? Does it mean that no deals have been done?
A9. No and No. We are ‘growing up’ as a company and are no longer trumpeting individual deals like this because of client confidentiality and because it makes us seem a bit small in their eyes. Instead, we want to focus on doing large-scale infrastructure deals and announcing those.
Ip deals Powered by Blackbird
(I360) Q Would you expect the other IP deals in the pipeline will be of the same size as the one that you have already signed?
A4. Yes, probably larger. IM also strongly emphasised that the minimum guarantees were just that, a very low baseline
(I360) Q6. When will the licensee be made public?
A6. By IBC (Sept) at the latest, but quite possibly earlier than that.
(I360). Q1. Is the IP licencing deal EVS?
A1. IM: EVS is an OEM deal and not the same as a PBB licencing deal. (So, I think we can conclude from this response, that it's not EVS).
(I360) Q2. Is the IP licencing deal GV?
A2. We cannot say
(Some conflicting reports from the AGM on this difficult to answer Q)
NAB
(I360) Q11. How did it go at NAB?
A11. Really, really well. It’s very exciting. Apart from having a busy stand, you should see it as significant that we were one of only 4 companies in this entire market that Microsoft chose to invite onto their own stand. The other 3 were all $Bn companies. That speaks volumes for how well BIRD is being considered as part of the “patchwork quilt” that makes up the end-to-end delivery mechanism for video within the global ecosystem. IM then added emphasis on how well-positioned BIRD is specifically with AWS.
