As someone noted on the SavvyTrades board, that Lake Street analyst bullish on BGFV is one of the top analysts, ranking in the top 2 to 3% of professionals: https://www.tipranks.com/analysts/mark-smith
I think the plunge back down to 2 cents below yesterday's low has to do with the technical chart failure for BGFV to get back above the 9dma after it tried to rebound back up past $8.60 in the a.m.
And so now it's testing for new support level.
The low 8s may hold, or we may get a dip (a brief one, imo) down to the rising 20dma (the mid Bollinger band), presently at 7.80 and likely a bit higher by tomorrow.
News flash this a.m. at TheFly.com:
10/21/20: Lake Street initiates with Buy rating - $15 Target
Lake Street analyst Mark Smith initiated coverage of Big 5 Sporting with a Buy rating and $15 price target. With the pandemic driving demand for sporting goods, Smith views the company's convenience factor as a small-footprint, neighborhood retailer being attractive to consumers. Big 5 has been able to maintain a healthy store base and grow sales, steering "well-clear of the retail graveyard" that has clamed rivals such as Sports Authority, Sports Chalet, G.I. Joe's, MC Sports, City Sports and Modell's, Smith added.

FWIW I love tipranks
Kind of annoyed I had the idea 20 years ago and never did it. Typically I use it to identify who to follow in the blogging world. If you have an 80% successful track record on picks I want to know what you have to say. It’s why I follow you here actually.
Welcome. Yes, Funds starting eyeing it above $5.
Thanks FRED...very surprised that I've never run across that site. Have you noted in the past that when a stock moves from 4 to 5 it gets a nice lift like BGFV is getting today?
It is also used on TDA/Charles Schwab.

What's the "Smart Score"?
I don't think so, but not sure when the Smart Score went from 8 to 10 (Outperform).

Yep she's busting loose! Up over 20% now!? They didn't like it in the mid $5's on Tuesday, but they like it in the mid $7's on Friday.
Yes, that's true, but without a significant online presence, people shop in store. The nature of shopping for sporting goods is mostly in store also. I would think it would improve in a normal environment.

But it's COVID that is giving BGFV a number of advantages, e.g., people canceling their gym memberships and working out at home; going hiking & camping with their kids rather than going to amusement parks, malls and movie complexes.
Also, it forced them to do some significant cost-cutting....
Imagine how good this can do in a non-COVID time.

Our ihub friend Gilead from the SavvyTrades board just last night published on SeekingAlpha a nice write-up on BGFV. That article might be giving the stock some push today.
