At AGT, we solve health and environmental concerns using an innovative source: atmospheric plasma.
We've engineered a way to create plasma in open air at standard room temperature and pressure -- without using a vacuum system. The result is a technology called One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (TM), or OAUGDP (TM) for short.
OAUGDP is enabling exciting new applications that are revolutionizing industries like healthcare, transportation, biotechnology, and air filtration. We're even developing technologies to combat the ill-effects of chemical and biological warfare.
COMPANY PROFILE
AGT was chartered in January, 2000 as a science and engineering company focusing on solutions to environmental and decontamination applications. The company was founded by a collection of faculty and staff from The University of Tennessee with the goal of transitioning the laboratory-based atmospheric plasma technology into the market place. AGT’s mission is to design and develop superior atmospheric plasma devices based on the patented One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP) technology. Our vision is to become the preferred and most widely used atmospheric plasma provider.
AGT has established the leading atmospheric plasma technology and product development team in the U.S. The particular atmospheric plasma of interest is the patented OAUGDP technology. The Company currently has twenty-two employees that comprise an interdisciplinary group of engineers, physicists, chemists, and microbiologists who have been working together for the past four to six years. AGT currently operates a 7,200 square foot research and product development facility that is conveniently located in Knoxville, Tennessee in close proximity to supporting technical expertise and resources at The University of Tennessee (UT), the Tennessee Center for Research and Development (TCRD), the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and the National Transportation Research Center (NTRC). The Company has also retained several consulting Ph.D. technical experts and two senior business managers to support its product and business development activities. Frequently, the company employs national expert organizations to support unique development requirements.
AGT has focused its efforts to date on OAUGDP technology and product development and has been successful in product prototype development of the Enhanced Plasma Sterilized (EPS) Air Filtration and Purification System. AGT received recognition from R&D magazine for the company’s work on the EPS for which they obtained an R&D 100 Award in 2002 as one of the most significant technologies of the year, worldwide.
AGT has been awarded thirteen Small Business Innovation Research (“SBIR”) contracts for over $4 M in atmospheric plasma related research and development. The company has also been issued contracts from commercial enterprises to develop products to enhance and expand the product lines of those corporations
