Your comment placed a few more thoughts in my head to get out...

First of all I realize current management bought the business and have every right to run it the way they do.

That being said, they could learn a lot from the history of this place because that history is what made people proud even after ten years gone by to have participated in what they were blessed enough to buy that we all had a hand in creating.

No one likes to see what they as a group helped create be torn down. It is natural to keep what was right the treatment of others not to end but to continue.

Have you ever eaten at a new restaurant and tell your friends how good it is? That business builds a great reputation because not only did they have healthy ingredients their service was customer orientated.

After years of building that reputation they decide to start substituting cheaper ingredients, less service, etc.

The business survives because it built up years of branding based on the early customers feedback.

Unfortunately over time those customers are no longer telling others because what once was great has turned into just another cut throat business. They lost what made them great.

We should be proud of what we as a whole bunch of people with different beliefs, from all walks of life did helping Matt shape this place into a community where people willingly gave of their time believing that the end results would become something at that time was no where found on the net.

Yes, Matt had rules and yes sometimes we disagreed.

Yet, there was in most cases and I know in mine a mutual respect even in disagreements where if the hub was a store I'd still come back to buy there again.

Unfortunately some of the current management has lost that community business sense. The REAL world respect you give to people in a store or on the net.

Because we aren't face to face should not negate that respect.

No one would treat me or others I have seen that way to my face so why here?

Reminds me of people who get in their cars and all of a sudden they are tough guys.
Reality is once out of the car the real world exists.

Matt had the discernment to realize rules can not be carved out of stone. That stone had to be examined now and then no matter the time it took to do it in order to keep the lines of respect open.

Realized certain situations were more then black and white.

And yes, management is going to need to read back a few posts finding out who the players are involved in order to make a ruling that is fair.

Yes, it will cost management time doing this when instead they could just quote you the rules.

And that my friends the quoting of the rules not wanting to put in the extra time to understand ALL the FACTORS involved is where the community part of the hub continues to slip away as does some of the GF members who no longer post here cause they had enough. Sad situation getting worse daily.

Getting out of hand is not a bigger debit then grudges carried forward. Yes, that was a release place for people.

If they held a contest now, I don't think I would even try.

I think we are becoming extinct.

It would be nice for the GF members to show up here and discuss why that is.

Problem is as I see it many know unlike the days when you could question Matt and if you didn't agree with him you'd still have a good respectful conversation I rarely see that happening anymore.

We were all part of bringing hundreds and hundreds of people here.

The GF members made this place the community part of it what it is today.

If not for us this site never would have grown to the level it could be sold to current owners.

I think it would benefit current owners, management to realize how important the history is of this place is.

If I treated people in my business the way I others GFM's been treated here they'd be out of business long ago.

Matt had rules but he also had discernment realizing not every rule fits every conversation here.

When posts deleted because admin doesn't understand past history of company or players involved nor do they go back in the thread to understand what was posted was necessary the deletion takes away from everything that was good about the hub.

Another example is private boards.

Matt allowed a PRIVATE BOARD to be just that as it was intended.

If you went to it and didn't appreciate their politics, swearing, what ever it was that offended you then you had a choice.
You could stay there and post within the guidelines of that board or leave. This political correctness crap has entered even the private boards now.

It was because of perfect timing on Matt's part creating this place along with the GF members input as well as bringing people here which allowed what is called branding in the market place.

If not for the large scale of upside the GF members brought to the table this type of business treatment would never fly in the real world.

I realize change happens.

But at the same time change doesn't have to hurt good people who spent many many many hours of their life joining with others sharing ideas that paved the way to where this place stands in the market place today.

You're right. I apologize for the generalization. Although General Lee's generalship was most likely superior to the generalship of General Grant, there is now a general belief that the former perhaps received too much credit and the latter too little. Generally speaking, of course.
