Look out, Kabul. We're coming on Harleys and Hueys
By Jeff Ackerman
Florida resident Steve Huffman called last week to say he has a fully operational Huey helicopter in his front yard ready to take us to Afghanistan.
It seems I struck a chord in suggesting that Uncle Sam recruit old guys, not young guys, in this fight on terrorism.
I even got a note from the editors at Biker Magazine, asking if they could reprint the column. If everything goes as planned we'll soon have a division of Harleys roaring through the deserts of Afghanistan looking to smoke any flag-burning, camel-smoocher it crosses.
"Eagle," as Huffman calls himself, says he purchased the old military helicopter a few years ago and that it is sitting in his front yard.
"I am pleased to announce that we have just completed the first 'retraining' flight aboard the Huey UH-1 that 'Uncle Sammy' loaned me," the Vietnam vet wrote in a followup e-mail. "In fact, we met our volunteer list of eight personnel immediately. Unfortunately, only six could actually step onboard ... due to a shift in gross weight of each member we had after all these years."
He said he and his crew flight-checked the chopper and that they are ready for orders. "We even guard our own aircraft since one of our members has prostrate problems and is up all night peeing anyway."
A few days later Eagle told me his "Over 50 Counter Terrorists Unit" was continuing its training somewhere in Florida and that it was going well.
"Reveille was sounded by Broken Ticker's gas attack from the chili we created last night from old C Rations," he wrote.
Donald Hosmer wrote from Dearborn, Mich., to say he's been preparing for the end for years and that his neighbors no longer think he's nuts.
"Our family prepared years ago and have been rotating stored food and supplies over time," he wrote. "It became a sideline to normal life, but now the neighbors are overwhelming us with questions and requests for hard-to-find equipment."
Melanie Graham wrote me from Canada to say the cutoff age there is 52 for reservists and that she had just joined the Navy at 48. "Most of the 24-year-old kids couldn't keep up with me in Basic Training last summer," she wrote. "Now I'm studying to become a vessel command officer and like it so much I'm leaving the Reserves to join the Regular Navy. Maybe the U.S. forces will also see the wisdom of recruiting mature personnel."
I was also chastised for not including "Old Gals" in my "Over 50" movement.
"Do you know why instead of adding 50-year-olds to the Army, they added females?" First Lt. Christie McDowell from Portland, Ore., asked in her letter. "Because the last thing an enemy like the Taliban wants to see is a bunch of desert-weary women with PMS."
Coincidentally, the Wall Street Journal last week reported that in spite of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C., recruits are not knocking the doors down to get in. "We're still waiting for people to break the doors down," one recruiter told that newspaper.
In addition to the age restrictions, potential recruits are also being rejected for lots of other reasons, according the article. They say you can't join if you:
-- Are on Prozac. That's a little ticky-tacky, if you ask me. You take some Prozac, a deep breath, and squeeze the trigger. It's all about nerves.
-- Have used marijuana more than 10 times. They didn't say if those 10 times needed to be on consecutive days. "Have you smoked marijuana 10 times in the last week?" the recruiter might ask. "No sir!" the recruit might respond. "I'm pretty sure it was nine times."
-- Have metal plates or screws in your body. That's also a bit excessive. An army of metal-plate-headed soldiers would be a terrifying thing. Especially if they weren't wearing helmets.
-- Have tattoos above the neck or on the hands. I suppose it depends on what the tattoo depicts. You could shave your head and have a tattoo with an arrow on the side of the scalp that reads: Metal plate here.
-- Be missing body parts. Again, I think they need to be more specific. There are many body parts that just get in the way on the battlefield. Thumbs, for example.
-- Have braces. I kind of agree with that one. Dead giveaway on sunny days. It would also give the enemy an edge. "Hey, tinsel teeth!" they'd probably tease.
"There's a lot more people out there who can't join than who can," one sergeant told the Wall Street Journal.
No wonder. There's a million "Over 50" men and women out there ready to fight, and a million more if Uncle Sam would just waive a few other restrictions. Give me 10,000 old guys and gals with metal plates and Prozac and we'll deliver Kabul on a platter within two weeks.
All we need to do is figure out how Eagle can shuttle us from Florida to Afghanistan on a war-torn Huey helicopter.

I don’t normally subscribe to this atheist anti religion crap however this article has a lot of key information that should awake even the blindest fool and his moronic myopic chantings of "Ban all TERRORISTS"

I don't remember the grade I was in when I
first learned about the Salem witch trials or
the Spanish Inquisition. But I do remember
at the time thinking how incomprehensible those chapters in
human history were.
How could anyone with a rational mind believe that a
neighbor is a witch, conjuring evil? How could anyone, and
especially the most educated elite of the medieval Catholic
Church, believe that heresy, or not strictly adhering to
Catholic doctrine, is a crime worthy of torture and death?
From my vantage, growing up in the America of the 1970s,
the superstition, religious fervor and mass ignorance that
pervaded 15th century Spain and 17th century
Massachusetts were inconceivable. Why, I wondered,
couldn't they see how wrong they were?
Since then, I have been personally exposed to modern
brutality in the name of religion: in Kano, Nigeria, where
Muslims want Shariah, their harsh brand of religious law, as
the law of the land, which has led Christians and Muslims
to slaughter each other; in China, where even the Bishop of
Shanghi, a man who spent 27 years in prison for practicing
Catholicism, believes members of the Falun Gong religious
sect deserve to be persecuted.
Through these experiences, I have come to learn that
mankind is rarely able to see beyond his own place and
time.
I say that as we look to the Muslim world of Asia, Africa,
the Middle East, and Indonesia -- 1.15-billion strong --
with questions about why so many people in those regions
hate us with such zeal that they celebrated after our deaths
at the hands of murderers who bore their religious stripe.
Why does their interpretation of Islam include our demise,
with the label "infidel" carrying an intrinsic threat of
violence? Do they really believe that because we don't live
like them, think like them, or share their religious views or
cultural values that we must forfeit life?
And if that is so, then how do we get them to see beyond
their own place and time? How do we move a mind?
I should have an answer for that. After all, it's my job to
move minds. I struggle with it every day. To have any
chance of getting a reader to come around to my point of
view, I know I have to present a compelling argument
based on sound reasoning that connects to him or her in
some real-life way. Yet, even when appealing to people
with similar interests, concerns and life experiences to my
own, victories are rare. In places like Saudi Arabia,
Indonesia and Afghanistan -- which are cloistered and
isolated, where boys grow up being taught in madrasas, or
religious schools, to see their lives in starkly religious terms,
where martyrdom is a ticket to paradise and violence
against non-followers is a sacred tenet -- the job is a
thousand-fold more difficult.
Still, it is not impossible to move the minds of people
blinded by religious zealotry. In the wonderful series
Evolution on PBS, documentarians spent time at Wheaton
College, a conservative Christian college in Illinois, talking
to students in the natural sciences. Many came from
families that embraced biblical literalism -- you know, a
six-day Earth and Adam and Eve. But at Wheaton, they
were studying geology, archaeology, biology and genetics
-- disciplines that all pointed to a 4-billion-year-old planet
and the validity of Darwin's natural selection. While it was a
struggle, a number of the students interviewed couldn't help
but be swayed by the rationality of science.
"You're a scientist, the evidence is before you, and you
want to say, "Well, then this goes completely against my
whole upbringing,' " geology student Nathan Baird told
producers. "That's a struggle I've gone through this year."
John Philip Jenkins, professor of history and religious
studies at Penn State, who is an expert on religious cults,
said trying to alter the perception of cult followers or
fundamentalists in the United States is different than doing
so in isolated societies where no alternative perspectives
are available.
People in closed societies "come to define their ideas from
other members of that group and get their punishment and
reward from following the values of the group," said
Jenkins. He believes the only way to change the premises
on which these societies operate is to alter the culture: "In
Palestine, you have tens of thousands of people prepared
to give up their lives in a suicide attack. . . . It's not
irrational, it's held out as a model to other people to imitate
it. You know if you are a suicide bomber you will be a
major figure and your picture will be on posters and you
will go to paradise.
"If you want to do anything about this, you have to change
the culture."
Our State Department is finally coming to this realization.
Recently, before the House International Relations
Committee, Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy
Charlotte Beers spoke of launching a Middle East Radio
Network to expose Arab nations to American values. She
said it's part of "The battle for the 11-year-old mind."
We know there is no way we can stop all the anthrax or all
the terrorists from crossing our borders, but maybe there is
a way to keep the next crop of suicide bombers from being
sown. It's just a matter of moving a mind.

BAHAWALPUR, Pakistan (CNN) -- A group of bearded men on motorcycles opened fire on a Sunday morning church service, killing at least 16 people, including a police officer, officials said. At least five others were critically injured.
The Rev. Jim Nuttle, a Catholic priest at the church where the shooting happened, said about 50 people were in the church when the attack began at the end of the first service at 9 a.m local time.
The men rode up on motorcycles and shot a police officer who was a church security guard, Nuttle said.
During the church shooting, survivors said worshippers tried to flee or hide under pews to escape an indiscriminate hail of automatic weapons fire that left the gray stone building pocked with bullet holes.
``Some of them lay down. Some begged for mercy. They didn't listen,'' said Ali Shah, a man in his early 20s who was in the front pew when the four masked gunmen burst in. He was one of five people being treated for bullet wounds at the city hospital Sunday afternoon.
The Rev. Rocus Patras, parish priest at St. Dominic's, said that at the time of the shooting, a Protestant congregation that lacks its own building was worshipping at the Catholic church as it has for 30 years.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but intelligence officials said members of a banned Islamic group were under suspicion. U.S. attacks on neighboring Afghanistan have enraged many Pakistani Muslims.
``Whenever something happens with America, they attack Christian churches,'' Patras said.
Authorities in Pakistan's four provinces ordered increased security at Christian churches. In Islamabad, where police commandos with automatic weapons guarded church gates Sunday afternoon, President Gen. Pervez Musharraf condemned the loss of ``16 innocent and precious lives.''
Family members of victims killed in the shooting attack at St. Dominic's Catholic Church wail outside the church Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 in Behawalpur, in Punjab province, Pakistan. Gunmen stormed into the church in Pakistan during Sunday services and sprayed the congregation with gunfire, killing the minister and 15 others, police and survivors said.(AP Photo/Khalid Tanveer)

a "repost" but quite interesting reading :
====================================================from RB:
911......the day of the Assasins rath.
I won't fill up the board with more than this tiny excerpt from a source.
What you should consider is that this entire scenario is much deeper than the government would have you believe, conspiracy theories aside!
The attack involves a critical timing equinox, tied in with the 1st Crusades around yr. 1095.
A 12th century Islamic cult has been transposed to OBL's cult in a frightful way. See, Pope Urban II, he declared a "holy war" against the Muslim invaders of the Holy Land, and launched an effort to retake the "sacred" city of Jerusalem, unless I am mistaken.
The well thought out 'timing' also incorporates certain symbols, geometries, architectures, numerologies, star alignments, and specific coordinates..the list is long and so is this war, its been going on for a very long time. The government knows about this and now you know, a thin slice of a slice. And some of you thought it had nothing to do with the founding fathers and their Masonic principles, Bahhh Humbug!
The truer reasons will not be found via surface details and governmentally homespun synthetic-drug-media dissed-information.
Imo, this is not about a lone renegade, OBL and his fanatical group of a few thousand doing the dirty work, its a vast movement and a concerted effort to overthrow, overtake and crush the U.S.A. The U.S.A. via its founding Masonic principles represents the lineage back to the Crusades and back further to ancient Egypt as well. The U.S.A., a Judeo?/Christian government is in conflict with the muslims and 'The Order of Assasins' that are going to see to it that the U.S.A. will be undermined, unless, of course, we stop them. Its all very involved and the correlations abound as to Quran numerology and those of the Masonic orders. Like all the other wars that are about either religion or money/power, this war is no different...
Don't take my word for it, do your own DD.
---
It became obvious fairly early that there were some strange coincidences
surrounding these events. As was quickly reported throughout the Internet,
there were a whole bunch of odd "9-1-1" and "11" coincidences that linked to
these horrific attacks.
For instance:
The attacks took place on 9/11
9+1+1 = 11
Each WTC Tower had 110 floors, which is a multiple of 11
The aircraft which ultimately hit the Pentagon was American Airlines Flight
77. 77 is another multiple of 11
American Airlines Flight 11, the first plane flown into World Trade Tower2,
had 11 crewmembers. A total of 65 people were on Flight 11. 6+5 = 11
The second plane, United Airlines Flight 175, hit the World Trade Tower 1 at
9:02 AM. 9+2 = 11
9/11 is the 254th day of the year. 2+5+4 = 11
After 9/11, there are 111 days left in the year
New York City (where the major attack occurred) consists of 11 letters
New York was the 11th state admitted into the Union
President Bush ordered flags to fly at half mast until 9/22, making an 11
day period of mourning
And so on. At this point, our interest had been piqued, but little else. We
had no way of knowing, or certainly proving, whether all these resonances
were simply true coincidence or part of some other larger pattern. But given
our previous research into such recurring symbolism, we felt impelled to at
least look.
The first place we started was with the date itself.
As many news agencies immediately pointed out, the week of 9/11 is the week
of the Camp David Accords -- which made peace between Israel and Egypt in
1978 (with an official signing on March 26, 1979). But that seemed a bit too
simplistic, so we kept digging. As it turns out, 9/11 is also an ancient
date of special Middle Eastern significance. September the 11th is New Years
Day in the ancient Egyptian Coptic Christian calendar. That the day must
still hold special significance to the people of Egypt is reflected by the
fact that Egypt ratified its current constitution on that same day in 1971.

The original "Assassins" were a quasi-religious sect of murderous "defenders
of Islam" formed in 1090 by "al-Hasan ibn-al-Sabbah" -- the same period that
the Templars and the Catholic Church began their ill-fated attempt to
"retake" the Holy Land in the Crusades. According to Islamic scholar Edward
Burman, author of The Assassins - Holy Killers of Islam, though founded in
Egypt, the Order soon moved to a mountainous region of Persia (modern-day
Iran), organizing their campaigns against the invading knights from a well
defended castle called "Alamut." According to Berman, the cult was a
ruthless, closed, secretive -- even occult -- society, one that used murder,
guerrilla warfare, and (at times) overt military conquest to achieve its
aims. The Assassins were much feared (and, paradoxically, simultaneously
admired) by the Templars during the Crusades, for their almost mystical
ability to strike at any time and without warning -- and against any target.
Their almost inhuman willingness to sacrifice their own lives for the cause
they were fighting (sound familiar ..?) made them a fearsome enemy.
(If you take the current year, 2001, and subtract the year al-Hasan-ibn-al-Sabbah founded the Assassins, in 1090, you get....911)
According to the famed explorer, Marco Polo, who visited Alamut in 1273, the
Assassins used a variety of techniques that we today would call
"mind-control" to obtain and indoctrinate new members. These reportedly
involved the use of drugs like hashish, and the transfer of the recruit to
"a sumptuous garden filled with beauty, feasts and women." In this
drug-induced state, the recruit on waking was convinced that he had
literally gone to Paradise. Upon his return to the "real" world, over time
and at the hands of artful teachers, the recruit's original beliefs in Islam
were replaced with a perverted version called the "Nizari Ismailis" -- which
ultimately convinced him he could return to this Paradise by means of
sacrificing himself for the Cause and its leaders. Internally, the leaders
of this sect referred to it as the 'New Propaganda."
-
How about the Templar Order's date of official recognition by the Vatican:
1118 AD.
Which, when added (1+1+1+8) equals another 11!
Now, do you remember (as we asked earlier) that there were 9 Templar
original Knights involved in the founding of the Order? Which, when added
to the previous Templar founding date, equals--911.
Which brings us to this crucial year of the "911 Attack" -- 2001.
There are exactly 883 years between 1118 and 2001.
And these, when added (8+8+3) equal 19 -- which was the exact number of
hijackers on the aircraft.
The reason this latter number is important, and was quite obviously also
carefully planned by the architects of this terrorist assault, is to be
found in several scholars' recent discovery of a remarkable pattern of "19s"
throughout the Koran. In the view of many modern Islamics, the scientific
discovery of the "code of the 19s" provides the final proof of Allah's
direct Revelation of the Koran.

Hackers deface Taliban website
A Taliban website registered in Afghanistan, but hosted by an American company, has been hacked and defaced. The front page of the site at www.talibanonline.com has been replaced by a message reading: "Project Afghanistan! Knock them out! You will pay for this you stupid fools! God bless the United States of America."It also displays a picture of the American flag with the message, "In memory of those lost in the terrible events of September 11, 2001". The hacker, calling himself MaxMouse, is previously unknown, technology website The Register reports. Mark Read, a professional services consultant at MIS Corporate Defence, said the site was behind a firewall with only port 80 on the server visible. This points to the exploitation of an unpatched vulnerability on its IIS 5 Web server, he said. A cached version of the page is available at defacement archive defaced.alldas.de.

America, We are One...........
As the soot and dirt and ash rained down, We became one color.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building, We became
one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hope, We became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno,
We became one gender.
As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength, We became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, We spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long, We became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss, We became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss, We became one soul.
As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heroes, We become one people.
We are The Power of One.
We are United.
We are America.

Bin Laden's family has openly rejected him. Doing business with his family is no more doing business with Bin Laden than voting for Bill Clinton was voting for Roger Clinton.
It's amazing what some people will try to do to undermine our nation's leadership.
Or, sadly, maybe it isn't amazing.

U.S. Planes Bring 'Inferno' Down on Kabul
By Sayed Salahuddin and Anton Ferreira
KABUL/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S.-led forces using cluster bombs unleashed the fiercest round yet of their onslaught on Afghanistan on Thursday in what Kabul residents called a terrible inferno of destruction.
Afghanistan's Taliban rulers said more than 140 civilians had been killed in the last 24 hours of the raids, launched on Sunday in retaliation for the suicide attacks on the United States a month ago in which about 5,600 people were killed.
They said 50 bodies had been pulled from the rubble of one village in the east after bombing runs which Washington is aiming at the Taliban and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda group, accused of hijacking airliners on Sept. 11 and ramming them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
But the campaign against the Islamic purist Taliban stoked growing anti-Western anger among Muslims from Jakarta to Cape Town and British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Western countries were in danger of losing the propaganda battle for Arab and Muslim support.
Britain said the war, in which it is helping the United States, would stretch well into next year. ``We must expect at least to go through the winter into next summer at the very least,'' Sir Michael Boyce, chief of the British defense staff, told a news conference. He said the campaign had hit 40 targets so far.
U.S. defense officials said heavy B-52 and B-1 bombers targeted Taliban troops overnight Wednesday and into Thursday, using among other weapons cluster bombs that open as they fall to release dozens of high-explosive bomblets.
``We dropped a lot of bombs,'' one of the officials said. ``We have said that this will be relentless, and it will.''
The United States said on Tuesday it had achieved control of the skies over Afghanistan, but Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said on Thursday there was still a risk for U.S. aircraft.
``There still is an air-defense threat and it is triple-A (anti-aircraft artillery),'' Rumsfeld said, adding that the Taliban also had portable surface-to-air missiles and ``one or more'' much larger surface-to-air missiles.
VILLAGE REPORTED FLATTENED
The Afghan Islamic Press, citing Taliban and other sources, said Kouram village, around 20 miles from the eastern city of Jalalabad, had been flattened in Wednesday night's attack.
``So far more than 50 bodies have been recovered and the fear is that the number of martyrs will be more than 100,'' it quoted a Taliban spokesman in the area as saying.
According to Taliban figures, the total number of deaths in Afghanistan since Sunday now stands at around 220.
Taliban officials said the latest casualties included 15 people killed in a mosque in Jalalabad, which is ringed by al Qaeda training camps.
Rumsfeld said he regretted any civilian loss of life but added: ``There is no question but that when one is engaged militarily that there is going to be unintended loss of life.''
British Defense Secretary Geoff Hoon said the reports of civilian deaths were being investigated. ``We are not engaged in a fight against the Afghan people. We regret the deaths of any civilians... Every effort is made to minimize the risk to civilians.''
President Bush, who scheduled a news conference for 8 p.m. EDT to discuss the campaign, told a memorial service at the Pentagon, where 189 people were killed by one of the hijacked planes, that the armed forces ``will have everything you need ... to assure full victory for the United States and the cause of freedom.''
``Over time, with patience and precision, the terrorists will be pursued. They will be isolated, surrounded, cornered until there is no place to run or hide or rest,'' Bush said.
A U.S. Air Force sergeant on active duty in the northern Arabian peninsula became the first American fatality of the war when he was killed in an accident.
Up to five U.S. jets bombed areas south of Kabul on Thursday night, drawing anti-aircraft fire, witnesses said. They dropped three to four bombs and apparently hit a Taliban munitions dump.
``There are explosions and flashes every 10 seconds or so. I think it must have hit an ammunition site,'' one witness said.
The raids followed a night of almost constant bombardment on Wednesday. ``It was like an inferno,'' said one young man. ''The explosions were so huge and so massive, that it felt like an earthquake, as if an atomic bomb had been dropped on Kabul.''
Blast after blast ripped through the city. The impact could be felt across the capital, rattling windows and shaking the foundations of homes and offices.
``This is the worst night that we have had so far,'' said one resident. ``There has been no chance to sleep. I cannot tell you how frightened people are. It is terrible.''
What do the Washington Redskins and the Taliban have in common?
neither will see the playoffs

Paule. I was emailed that and shared it with the board. I hate violence just as much as you. But I do agree with the message that email gave. I don't want to get into who the players are in the war and their reasons as I don't know enough about history. What I do know is my Father fought in two wars in order for myself and others to live with the freedom we have. Now a group of people have decided they don't want us living this way and are doing everything possible to take that freedom away. I believe we have to trust in our leaders who have info you and I don't have. And support them.

For some reason from somewhere deep inside I feel this whole retaliation/prevention (and I use that word cautiously) thing is wrong and I don't understand why.
Muslims/Jews/Christians all believe in the same God. All three faiths have the first five books of the Old Testament contained within the various Religious Texts. Now all three of these, Gods children, are going to kill each other in His name.
Israel hates Islam. Islam hates the Judaism.Western Christianity tries to sit in the middle of the fence prentending to be the "White knight" while supporting with 2.2 billion in cash and supplying military equipment since 1949 to an occupying Israel, An Israel that is occupying land, and killing innocent Muslems in the name of God. Western Christianity didn't care how many Muslems and Jews killed each other in Gods name until their Holy War killed some of our own. Now God is on Western Christianities side as it kills the murdering Muslems.
I know what we have to do. I fully understand what we HAVE to do. Why do I feel with every bone, every fiber in my being that doing so is just plain wrong?" Paule" The Walnut Lives"

What to do if you happen by a university peace rally in order to teach naive college students who have not experienced war in their lifetime why force is sometimes needed :
1) Approach naive young student chanting about "peace" and saying there should be, "no retaliation."
2) Engage in brief conversation, ask if they think military force is appropriate in response to attack killing over 6,000 people.
3) When he says "No," ask, "Why not?"
4) Wait until he says something to the effect of, "Because that would just cause more innocent deaths, which would be awful and we should not cause more violence."
5) When he's in mid sentence, punch him in the face as hard as you can.
6) When he gets back up to punch you, point out that it would be a mistake and contrary to his values to strike you, because that would, "be awful and he should not cause more violence."
7) Wait until he agrees with you that since he has pledged not to commit additional violence it would not be right for him to strike you back.
8) Punch him in the face again, harder this time.
Repeat steps 5 through 8 until they understand that sometimes it is necessary to punch back.

As much as I hate Gore, I believe he would have won if he had not gone after the guns. As America showed until someone outside bloodied our nose, it’s people didn’t care what type of lying cheating stealing murdering adulterous scumbag ran our country. They proved it by re-electing him even after he confessed as to what type of dirt bag he really was.
“I know my husband had an affair but I forgave him and you as Americans should too. He’s learned his lesson and we are now closer than ever”
"No I did not have an affair with that woman"
"Indeed I did have inappropriate relations with that woman"
“That depends on what the definition of the word "is" is”
Hey al you Albanians, Bosnians and Serbs, watch out my pants got me in trouble again. So now I'm going to have to bomb ya. Gimme a BigMac will ya? Hu Hu

Sorry I loathe the Clinton(s) as much as they "Loathe" The military.
JoeLong.....
"Bush looked a little stunned when he heard the news and we got to see his reaction."
For receiving the worst news possible and being surrounded by children I thought Mr. Bush held his composure quite admirably.
"I am sure he called his dad for advice, just as Kennedy called his dad, Reagan called Al Haig, and Jimmy Carter called his brother Billy."
Wouldn't you?

How you been Joe?Still slinging mud at MMMMMMMMMMArrrrry?
Right Joe.. and people love drugs even though drugs kill them...
1)Clinton is part of the reason this happened.....
2)He tried to take credit for things that started before going in office....
3)and tried to avoid blame for things that started before he left office....
The smartest thing that Gore has done
is to try to get as far away as he can from political election
no more talk about Clinton or Gore... not by me anyway
and I don't need a button to put you on IGNORE...
Gore would have had a better chance if he had used Clinton to campaign. People loved Clinton in spite of all the trouble he caused.

Gore would have had a much better chance if he hadn't been sucked
so far into the hole by the one he represented...
I still remember the look on his face when Clinton ask who the faces were on the wall...
before he started down that road he might have had enough smart to know better....
but he didn't have the guts to stay out...
he would have had a whole lot better chance this last time if he had
a fresh honest history....
:o)
Although I have no liking for Al Gore, we can't judge how his performance would be in this situation. Neither Bush nor Gore have had something like this to be judged before. Bush looked a little stunned when he heard the news and we got to see his reaction. I am sure he called his dad for advice, just as Kennedy called his dad, Reagan called Al Haig, and Jimmy Carter called his brother Billy.
Nice post excel. There are two types of people in my opinion. Those who talk a good game, and those that know that this is no game. I'll leave it up to you as to who is who. I don't see any sense of picking on Clinton, it was clear from the day he was put in office that he wasn't up to the job. Not trying to be partisan here because, believe it or not I am a member of his party. As for the 2nd question, there is a political slant to everything. Promoting class envy is the best tool that many can find. I wonder what they would say if a person like that would simply decide to " cash out. I mean, close his businesses, invest overseas, just retire. He would be considered a traitor. In order to be a traitor, wouldn't you have to be or the right side to start with?
with all this said I guess the best way to end this is to say " How many people would feel better if Albert Gore had been placed in the position our President has been? lol ~ shao
Here are two questions for you to ponder.
**************************************************************************
* After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and
injured 1,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be
hunted down and punished.
* After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S.
military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be
hunted down and punished.
* After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed
19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those
would be hunted down and punished.
* After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224
and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted
down and punished.
* After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured
39 U.S. sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted
down and punished.
Question 1--------------
If Clinton had kept his promises, would an estimated 6,000 people be
alive today?
**************************************************************************
Another interesting question: This question was raised on a Philly radio
call-in show. Without casting stones, it is a legitimate question.
There are two men, both extremely wealthy. One develops relatively cheap
software and gives hundreds of millions of dollars to charity. The other
sponsors terrorism
Question 2--------------That being the case, why is it that the US
government has spent more money chasing down Bill Gates over the past ten
years than Osama bin Laden?
God Bless America!

BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 8— Anthrax has been detected in a co-worker of a man who died after contracting a rare inhaled form of the disease and tests at the building where both worked have found evidence of the bacterium, authorities said.
A NASAL SWAB from the man, whose name was not immediately made public, tested positive for the anthrax bacterium, Tim O’Conner, regional spokesman for the Florida Department of Health, said Monday.
It was not yet clear if anthrax had spread to his lungs or if he had a full-blown case of the disease. The man was in stable condition at an unidentified hospital, according to both the Florida and North Carolina health departments.
His co-worker, Bob Stevens, had recently visited North Carolina. Stevens died Friday, the first person in 25 years in the United States to have died from an inhaled form of anthrax.
News that Stevens had contracted the disease set off fears of bio-terrorism, especially when it was revealed that Middle Eastern men were believed to have recently visited an airfield about 40 miles from Stevens’ home in Lantana and asked questions about crop-dusters.
