Shorts have made huge $$$ on ZIOP
Longs? Anyone who bought in after ZIOP paid Anderson $57.5 million in shares for the partnership deal....not so good. Although those who bought in back in October of 2014 around $2 or $3, they'd still be up...although they're probably kicking themselves if they didn't take any profits at $10+
XON shareholders who got free divy shares, they're obviously green at any price, although they too are probably kicking themselves if they didn't dump and take the money.
Who's buying right now? My guess is its probably short players covering to crystalize some awesome gains. And with all the uncertainty right now over the trial and the need for further financing on top of the ambulance chasers investigating....Overall a good time to cover off imo, when demand should be very low.
Who knows...they may just reload and short more going forward, maybe even try and pump it back up.
What you talking about this will pass $5 tomorrow
Just dump this, told u guys to do this days ago.
New 52 week low just registered
It's part of a sector wide sell down today.
So it was up early this morning 8% on the news. Now it's down almost 8% why is that?
ZIOPHARM Provides Update Regarding Phase I Study of Gene Therapy Candidate Ad-RTS-hIL-12 in Brain Cancer
BOSTON, July 19, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc. (Nasdaq:ZIOP) today provided an update regarding the Company's ongoing multicenter Phase I study of Ad-RTS-hIL-12 + orally administered veledimex in recurrent or progressive glioblastoma (GBM) or grade III malignant glioma.
The patient death resulting from intracranial hemorrhage in the third cohort of this Phase I study was deemed unrelated to study drug following the receipt and analysis of additional information by the sponsor and the study's Safety Review Committee. As with all study events, the Company expects to report the data to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in accordance with the study's protocol and applicable regulations. As previously announced, the study remains open for enrollment. The Company expects to provide further updates on the progress of the study, including longer-term survival follow up, at an appropriate meeting later this year.
"Recurrent GBM is a devastating disease with an expected overall survival that remains far too short as this case illustrates," said Francois Lebel, M.D., Executive Vice President, Research and Development, Chief Medical Officer at ZIOPHARM. "Preliminary overall survival in this study, including a median follow-up of over 8 months in the first dose cohort, remain encouraging, and we will continue to work diligently toward understanding the full potential of Ad-RTS-hIL-12 + veledimex in this disease, with the goal of providing safe and effective treatment options to these patients."

Sure....here it is
You didn't include all of the definitions, here it is from the same Merriam-Webster site. Words can have more than 1 or 2 meanings, I shouldn't have assumed you'd know that. Of course you conveniently left out the definition that applied...But with ZIOP longs I'm used to seeing selective reasoning being used, longs only see what they want to see instead of taking in the full picture, its why so many paid $8+
: not likely to be true or correct : giving reason to doubt or question something
: likely to be bad : not worthy of trust
: not certain : unknown or undecided
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/questionable
Try to slow down, it'll save you from making mistakes.
Same thing happened when UTIMCO chose to dump the ZIOP shares they had discretionary authority over.....Some morons thought they had no choice, that it was mandated they had to sell. If they'd only read ALL the info instead of just what they wanted to see.
Do you understand English?
I referred to their therapy as "questionable"....which means exactly what you said...their drug, "either will or will not work". That's what questionable means...if I thought their therapy wouldn't work I would have expressed that view...like you I don't know.
And it won't be proven one way or another in a phase I trial, even if they ever get to the 48 patients cited at clinicaltrials.gov.
How long did they know of this death before notifying shareholders? According to news being released it already quashed a $50,000,000 share offering the day before the news hit....Why wasn't the news released Thursday?
Do you have any idea how trials actually work? I do.
I have worked for a Biotech, helped with trial design, recruited patients, and followed them through the trial and beyond.
ZIOP's drug either will or will not work. We will learn in time. You seem to have decided it will not. That's fine, but posting FUD is not.
One patient...
Charles Peacock...he was diagnosed back in April of 2012 according to his blog. So he'd already beaten the odds when he finally enrolled in Ziopharm's trial, although he had to go back on chemo which had succeeded previously in shrinking his tumor...Maybe the chemo is the reason for his survival, and maybe it has nothing to do with Ziopharm's questionable CART therapy.
You're just full of FUD again, as usual.
Glioblastoma is a very aggressive form of cancer. There is no known cure. You get it, you die, sooner or later and usually sooner. The patients in this trial have exhausted other options and this is their only hope. They are all medically fragile. Any trial with patients this sick is going to have SAEs and deaths. Deceased patients are autopsied to determine cause of death. If the determination is that the death was not related to the treatment-then it wasn't. It's not ZIOP who determines this.
The patient who recently died will be autopsied and the outcomes will be announced.
The only thing that needs to be avoided around here is your posts.
The way ZIOP behaves....
It seems to me they're more concerned with their share price than with science....touting survival rates in a phase I trial designed to test safety...ugh, pathetic. And now its bitten them in the arse....
They want the Homer Simpson investor types to think their therapy is the reason patients are still alive imo....but when (sadly) patients die in the trial...oh, that has nothing to do with the treatment.
I wonder how long they knew about the most recent death before releasing the news? Saying "we just found out" is very non-specific...."just" a day ago, a week ago....How long ago.
Why use fuzzy words when you don't have to? Would straightforward language scare off investors? Is that the problem?
Small wonder they've attracted the ambulance chasers:

thanks bro best time now to ad 100% my friend
You have any idea at all what you're talking about? Don't think so.
Yes- good place to add or take a starter position.
experience trader here no worry for nice swing trade
dont get in my friend up from here imo have a nice day
I smell a lawsuit, it has been downtrending for months now. With the investigations this will only go lower.
lol best time to get in imo
This stock is crashing. Sell now, this will drop to $2.
This stock is crashing, horrible news.
IF the sector stops the downtrend then ZIOP will most likely stop too. Unfortunatley this may not happen until after the election since Hilary is against high pricing of drugs and medications….if not much later if she wins.
Any thoughts on ZIOP reversing this down trend any time in the near future?
Why is this tanking like crazy? Do we have any PR updates soon this get this back up?
It all depends on what happens. It seems like Dr Cooper thinks the FDA will agree to a registrational trial in GBM if the patients live for another few months. Then there is the combo Anti PD-1 GBM trial as well. We should know what is happening with both these in the next few months and if they both get the go-ahead then this should help. It will be interested to see what updates there will be on some of the other programs like the Sleeping Beauty system, off the shelf NK cells and IL-12 in breast cancer
Is there an end on sight for this downturn. Is getting frustrating!
More institutional selling, Univ Tex opts to sell out....
I know some think UTIMCO was forced to sell by some mandate, but that's for shares distributed to a couple of funds, (PUF and GEF) not the license and incentive shares they received to "partner" with Ziopharm.
Its all explained in my latest blog post complete with a link to the relevant SEC filing detailing under what circumstances UTIMCO might sell the shares and what effect the sales will have on Dr Cooper's compensation:
http://www.avoidthebag.com/2016/06/ziop-institutional-ownership-drops-univ.html
How are these companies related? The way you spin your first sentence you make it like they are partners. Can't see them ever partnering together. Your previous post is SPAM in my opinion and should be removed from this board.
ZIOP & RLMDs D-Methadone Orphan Drug approval today.
Looks like quite a good opportunity for some synergy between ZIOP & RLMD.
RLMD is a little known, low float and thinly traded company but the news today was very big.
I would like to see ZIOP & RLMD make some news together.
RLMD major news today. Largely missed by investors. Imo, the stock will move well higher in coming sessions as the FDA news gathers steam.

Cute....
If the first therapy does not cure disease xthe treatment is considered failed and the patient goes on to the the next one.
Do you have a link for this? Not that it matters....cancer in many cases is considered terminal, which by definition means it is incurable....However that doesn't mean it can't be treated and that chemo is sometimes successful in shrinking tumors.
Here's a quote and the link:
Chemo may be used to shrink tumors before surgery or radiation. It may be used after surgery or radiation to help kill any cancer cells that are left. It may be used with other treatments if the cancer comes back.
http://www.cancer.org/acs/groups/cid/documents/webcontent/003321-pdf.pdf
Then all therapies that don't cure cancer fail???
Call the FDA and tell them to stop approving treatments unless they totally cure the disease. Obviously if a treatment extends a person's life, even if its just a few months...that is success. Whether its 3 months, 6 months or even a few years. Even 3 months is huge, it can mean birthdays, anniversaries, graduations...so many important life events.
Trying to characterize something that extends a person's life a failure just to put a positive spin on some hyped up stock.....puke.

You already posted all of this earlier. Move on.
Once a tumor grows back, or metastasizes to another site, the therapy is considered failed.
If you actually look at the MRI, one might call it "clean". Mr. Peacock calls it Good.
So please take your arguments with Rob to wherever he is posting, Anyone reading this board can follow you there.
Funny ain't it....
Back in 2012 some guy published a blog and Ziopharm put out a PR that refuted some blogger's claims. Okay....fair enough, if they thought the information was false its their right, besides it might have hurt their share price and a lot of the compensation they pay to senior people is stock based...Kewl.
But now you have this slimeball RobCos posting about a #miracle and putting up stuff about a clean MRI for a guy who failed all his other treatments, totally made up stuff....
And what do we hear from the company? Crickets....but then maybe they like having people thinking they've got a proven #miracle cure or something, that sure couldn't hurt the share price.
Only refute social media postings if it is negative, but if the lies are bullish...hey that's kewl.
http://www.avoidthebag.com/2016/05/the-pr-ziopharm-should-put-out-in-my.html
I don't post anything like Rob.....
No outlandish claims, negative or positive. ZIOP is running out of cash, that's a fact, fully disclosed in their filings. This ph I trial they just PR'd the results about is estimated to have a study completion date of December 2018, a full year after their filings say they expect to be out of cash.
Long investors think that a partnership, a merger or a buyout will come to the rescue before the cash register is empty, and maybe it will be....that's speculation but it isn't fact.
No question ZIOP is an amazing trading vehicle....But as a long term hold I see it as being massive risk and grossly overvalued based on the fundamentals. Weak cash position, paying big bucks to guys like the CEO, and nothing in late stage development.
Near as I can tell, you're just here for the FUD of it.
I trade and invest in stocks for a living, a good one. Most are biotech.
Neither you nor Rob will make the slightest difference in what I do with ZIOP.
Only thing I will do, is if you start posting disinformation here, I will refute it. What you do elsewhere is up to you.
I ticked him off.....
He was mad because I wouldn't approve his pumper claim about ZIOP having a miracle cure for cancer on my blog.....Makes me think of Bre-X with the guy who seeded samples with shavings from his gold wedding ring. Guys like RobCose think fooling the public is okay, as long as they're macking it.
I am saying that everyone should do their own DD. Period.
FWIW Rob doesn't think much of you either.
So you're saying its okay to sucker people....
If they're dumb enough to believe some #miracle cure bravo sierra posting about a clean MRI. That's very much a boiler room mentality....ah well they're stupid, its okay to take them down.
Rob is sometimes right and sometimes wrong. Just like any other poster. Anyone who would make their investment decisions from posts on social media has no business playing the market in the first place.
There's a prolific pumper touting false info all over the net.....
Anyone who follows ZIOP in social media has likely come across the user ID RobCos or pharmamaven....one in the same person. This guy is posting blatantly false info about the PH I trial and a blogger who is taking part in the trial, claiming that this patient failed other drug treatments when they succeeded in shrinking his tumour, and saying the guy now has a "clean" MRI which sadly he does not.
This guy is a disgusting human being obviously:

I've just come across this http://global.onclive.com/web-exclusives/oncolytic-poliovirus-receives-breakthrough-designation-for-glioblastoma ''For the 24 patients analyzed for the ASCO poster, the median age was 57.5 years (range 20-70). The KPS was most commonly 90% (62.5% of patients). Prior therapies included radiation (100%), temozolomide (100%), and bevacizumab (41.7%).
At a data cutoff of May 19, 2015, the median OS across all doses of PVS-RIPO was 12.5 months (95% CI, 6.3-19.8). The 12-month OS rate was 56% (95% CI, 28.7-56.3%) and the 18-month rate was 32% (95% CI, 10.4-56.3%). At this analysis, 11 patients had failed treatment with PVS-RIPO.''
Sadly the media has been distorting the results with saying things like ''Results in the earliest stage of testing have been so remarkable, the FDA wants to fast track the treatment to speed it to market'' and ''Could POLIO help cure cancer? Therapy harnessing the virus 'destroys brain tumors.'' After reading the data I'm somewhat encouraged but it's still early days.
