Best Oversold Stocks to Buy for March 2022
By: Lucas Downey | February 24, 2022
• There are some great stocks being sold right now (not all in tech either). They’re fundamentally sound companies with good histories, which means discounts for long-term investors.
Stocks are still getting slammed in 2022, especially technology stocks. Of the tech stocks my research firm MAPsignals follows, nearly all the recent activity has been selling (a whopping 92% of all tech signals):
See the red bars? Those are stocks we believe are getting sold. When red bars run rampant, good names can get crushed. They can become what I call “oversold.” When this happens, even great stocks can get caught in the selling rush – and that can mean opportunity.
There are some great stocks being sold right now (not all in tech either). They’re fundamentally sound companies with good histories, which means discounts for long-term investors. Here are five stocks seeing lots of red that appear to be near-term oversold: CRM, INTU, LULU, MNST & AMD.
Check out these technicals:
• 1-month performance (-13.7%)
• Historical Big Money signals
AMD is a high-quality stock since it’s made the Top 20 report. As you can see below, it’s been a Big Money favorite for years. Right now, it’s on a pullback and could be an opportunity.
Source: www.MAPsignals.com
Now let’s look below the surface a bit. Earnings have been skyrocketing, and there’s been big sales growth too:
• 3-year EPS growth rate = (+196.2%)
• 3-year sales growth rate = (+39.1%)
The Bottom Line
CRM, INTU, LULU, MNST & AMD represent the top oversold stocks for March 2022. They’ve been sold a lot lately…perhaps too much. Strong, fundamentally-sound stocks seeing near-term sell signals are worthy of extra attention because of their long-term potential.

AMD Stock Rose After Company Closed Buy of Xilinx
By: Barron's | February 14, 2022
Advanced Micro Devices said Monday morning that it completed its all-stock acquisition of Xilinx , and AMD CEO Lisa Su added the chair title on Monday.
AMD (ticker: AMD) stock rose 1% to close at $114.27 on Monday, in the face of a lackluster day for the broader market, with the S&P 500 index falling 0.4%. AMD stock was coming off its worst one-day drop since 2020 on Friday, when it fell 10%. The all-stock nature of Xilinx deal, which was announced on Oct. 27, 2020, likely added to selling pressure during Friday’s broader market selloff.
The company said in a news release that it expects the deal to benefit non-GAAP earnings and margins in the first year.
Su said in a news release that Xilinx brings with it industry-leading field programmable gate arrays, adaptive system on a chips, artificial intelligence engines and software expertise, “that enable AMD to offer the strongest portfolio of high-performance and adaptive computing solutions in the industry and capture a larger share of the approximately $135 billion market opportunity we see across cloud, edge and intelligent devices.”
Su succeeds John Caldwell as chair. Caldwell will now serve as the AMD board’s lead independent director. Xilinx directors Jon Olson and Elizabeth Vanderslice also joined the new-look AMD board.
“As CEO and chair, Lisa will now have an ability to drive an even sharper focus for AMD and create greater shareholder value,” Caldwell said in a news release.
Xilinx shareholders received 1.7234 AMD shares for each Xilinx share they held. Former Xilinx CEO Victor Peng will become president of AMD’s new Adaptive and Embedded Computing Group.
AMD stock is down 18% year to date but is still up 22% in the past 12 months.

AMD Stock Is Down This Year. Why the Dip Is an Opportunity.
By: Barron's | February 9, 2022
Advanced Micro Devices stock looks more attractive following upbeat earnings and a lower share price, making it a Buy, according to Daiwa Capital Markets.
Daiwa analyst Louis Miscioscia upgraded Advanced Micro Devices (ticker: AMD ) to a 1-Buy, the firm’s highest rating, up from a 2-Outperform. The analyst also raised his price target to $150, up from $140.
“AMD delivering on its multiyear growth strategy,” Miscioscia wrote in a research note on Wednesday. “For 4Q21, results were above the high end of guidance and the company gave very strong guidance for 1Q22 and the full year, even after strong raises every quarter all year.”
AMD had a strong fourth quarter, bringing in $4.8 billion in revenue with adjusted profits of 92 cents a share, well above Wall Street expectations for $4.5 billion in revenue and profits of 76 cents a share. The company is projecting first quarter revenues of $5 billion, up 45% from a year ago, with gross margin for the quarter of 50.5%.
Demand for AMD’s semiconductors remains strong across all areas, including PCs, data centers, graphics processing units, and gaming consoles, which could continue to drive growth, Miscioscia said. AMD currently has eight of the top 10 cloud customers, including Alphabet’s Google ( GOOGL ) and Microsoft (MSFT), he said.
“Part of AMD’s continued growth is that they are seeing firm orders and goodvisibility in cloud demand for both internal applications and more instances, and as such have signed up for increased foundry capacity,” he wrote. AMD doesn’t manufacture the chips it designs, relying instead on so-called foundries such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing .
The stock was up 2.6% to $131.53 on Wednesday, but has lost 8.5% so far this year, battered by rising Treasury yields that have been hitting technology stocks. This price decline is an opportunity to buy, Miscioscia said.
Other analysts have taken a wait-and-see approach, with 16 out of the 41 analysts covering the stock surveyed by FactSet rating it a Hold. Only one analyst rated it a Sell, while 24 rated it a Buy.
Key risks to Daiwa’s bullish take include macroeconomic shocks that could pause spending on IT, disruptions to data center architecture, or faster than expected declines in the PC market, he said.

Any guesses on what this is likely to do to AMD's price by end of day Tuesday?
AMD Receives All Necessary Approvals for Proposed Acquisition of Xilinx
2022-02-10 08:00:07 AM ET (GlobeNewswire)
AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today announced that it has received approval from all necessary authorities to proceed with the acquisition of Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX).
With the exception of the remaining customary closing conditions, all conditions to the transaction closing have been satisfied and the company expects the transaction to close on or about February 14, 2022.
AMD announced its intention to acquire Xilinx in an all-stock transaction on October 27, 2020. The transaction brings together two industry leaders with complementary product portfolios and customers, combining CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, Adaptive SoCs and deep software expertise to enable leadership computing platforms for cloud, edge and intelligent end devices.
Bull of the Day: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)
By: Zacks Investment Research | February 10, 2022
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has strengthened its position in the semiconductor market on the back of its evolution as an enterprise-focused company from a pure-bred consumer PC and gaming chip provider.
And after another beat-and-raise quarter -- where the Lisa Su starship offered guidance for Q1 EPS that was 30% above consensus Street estimates -- the stock is on its way back to the old highs.
AMD has emerged as a strong challenger to NVIDIA's (NVDA) dominance in the GPU (graphic processing unit) market based on its Radeon technology. Launch of 7 nanometer (nm)-based AMD Radeon RX 5700-series gaming graphics card family featuring RDNA architecture, high-speed GDDR6 (Graphics Double Data Rate type 6) memory and support for the PCIe 4.0 interface, has helped the company increase presence among gamers.
I've been a big AMD bull since last March when you could buy it at $75. I last wrote about it publicly in late October and here's what I said...
Why I've Been Pounding the Table on AMD Since $75
I'm going to share more details about this fantastic growth -- plus a bandwagon full of analyst reactions -- but first let me explain why I was telling everyone who would listen this past spring to buy AMD at $75.
Essentially, it was all about how well CEO Lisa Su and her teams were executing in the dynamic, cutting-edges of semiconductor innovation, just like my favorite GPU-maker NVIDIA.
Plus, not only was she eating Intel's lunch at every turn in PCs and notebooks with sub-10 nanometer technology, the stock was consistently trading at half the valuation of NVDA.
Even today, AMD is trading for under 8 times next year's projected sales of $18.8 billion while NVDA leaves the atmosphere (for chips) at over 21X sales!
See an excellent primer on the victory over Intel here...
Release the Ryzen! AMD Roars in the Nanometer Wars
Stunning Q4 and Guidance
AMD reported fourth-quarter 2021 non-GAAP earnings of 92 cents per share, which surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 22.67%. The bottom line soared 77% year over year and 26% sequentially.
Revenues of $4.83 billion outpaced the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 6.69% and surged 49% year over year. On a quarter-over-quarter basis, the top line increased 12%.
Robust performance by the Computing and Graphics, and Enterprise Embedded and Semi-Custom segments drove year-over-year improvement, as AMD benefitted from strong Ryzen, Radeon, and EPYC processor sales.
In my Zacks TAZR Trader portfolio, we already had an AMD position and we were ready to be buyers again near $100. But after the market sell-off lost momentum, and AMD delivered the goods, we had to settle for adding near $120. Here's what I told our members...
AMD Has the Green Light for New Highs
Our bright spot today was a nice beat and stunning outlook from AMD.
Shared gapped up over 10% but met sellers as some analysts only raised price targets into the $130-140 zone like BMO and Truist.
But the Lisa Su starship managed to keep 5% on massive volume of 180 million shares -- the most since it surged to new highs above $120 back in August.
Let's hear what the bulk of positive analyst reactions were focused on in this report...
AMD price target raised to $155 from $145 at Jefferies: Analyst Mark Lipacis noted the remarkable results and outlook with Q4 EPS and Q1 EPS guidance that were 21% and 31%, respectively, above consensus. After about 600 basis points of server CPU revenue share gains in 2021, he expects another 200-300 points in server share gains in Q1, adding that he believes its next-gen server significantly increases its average selling prices due to much higher core counts.
AMD price target raised to $160 from $150 at Cowen: Analyst Matthew Ramsay noted the guide to 31% growth to start the year which was well above his expectations. He said market share gains are driving significant growth in PCs and servers, further amplified by GPU/console upside. Ramsay said the guidance to start the year shows visibility into customer-driven demand and improved supply.
AMD price target raised to $160 from $140 at Raymond James: Analyst Chris Caso said "AMD's December quarter results were exceptional," and thinks there's an expectation that numbers will move higher throughout the year as more supply becomes available, particularly in 2H22.
AMD price target raised to $165 from $155 at KeyBanc: Analyst John Vinh noted AMD's strong results and guidance, both of which were above expectations driven by strength in client PC, which grew DD% year-over-year, and data center, which more than doubled year-over-year and exited 2021 at mid-20% of total revenues. Accordingly, AMD sees over 30% revenue growth in 2022 and, Vinh noted, management believes it has secured enough capacity to support this growth.
AMD price target raised to $180 from $175 at Susquehanna: Analyst Christopher Rolland said upside was broad-based across all segments and should continue into 1Q22 as better demand and supply both contribute to March guidance that now bucks the typical first-quarter seasonal decline. He said the company is buying stock, $1B worth in just the last few weeks, and he recommends investors do the same. As the second-biggest bull -- next to me -- Rolland gives sound advice.
I'll reiterate my stance on AMD: As long as NVDA can trade for over 15X sales (currently 19.5X next year's $31.5B), then AMD is a steal under 10X sales (currently 6.4X next year's $22B). That's why it has the green light to go for the old highs... and make new highs.
(end of TAZR commentary from Feb 2)
Since then, revenue estimates for AMD next year have been boosted to over $24 billion. So even with the stock's rally to $133 and $153 billion, AMD is still trading for 6.4X sales. With NVDA's rally, its price/sales ratio has edged up to 20X.
As I told Zacks Ultimate members in a private member update on Monday, either NVDA is going to come down, or AMD is going for new highs. I think you know where my money is.

Daiwa Capital Markets upgraded Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) stock to "buy"
By: Schaeffer's Investment Research | February 9, 2022
• Chip Stock Presents Solid Entry Point, Says Analyst
• There's room for more analysts to turn bullish
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) is up 2.7% to trade at $131.70 at last check, after a bull note from Daiwa Capital Markets. The firm upgraded the chip concern to "buy" from "outperform," with a price-target hike to $150, citing its January pullback as an intriguing entry point. The analyst also noted the pending acquisition of Xilinx (XLNX) and a sunny forecast for chip in both 2022 and 2023.
The aforementioned pullback brought AMD within a chip shot of $99, to trade at its lowest level since July. Today's positive price action, meanwhile, has the equity pacing for a close above the 30-day moving average, which is a trendline that has pressured AMD for most of 2022. Over the last 12 months, Advanced Micro Devices stock has added 44.8%.
There is plenty of room for more analysts to change their minds. Of the 22 in coverage, nine brokerages still call AMD a tepid "hold." Meanwhile, the 12-month consensus price target of $153.81 is a 16.8% premium to the stock's current perch.
A shift in the options pits could help the security move higher as well. This is per Advance Micro Devices stock's 50-day put/call volume ratio over at the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Cboe Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX), which sits higher than all but 5% of readings in its annual range. This indicates a strong appetite for puts of late.
It's also worth noting the equity's Schaeffer's Volatility Scorecard (SVS) stands at a relatively high 72 out of 100. This means AMD has exceeded options traders' volatility expectations during the past year.
