Live Person did it! Hit that 50dma and that was the top..... hogs http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=lpsn,uu[m,a]daclyyay[dd][pb50!d20,2][vc60][iut!Up14,3,3!...
Yes, and him being booted from ihub sure doesnt help.....
Well, without the thread master to post how did he come up with the list of stocks, there is no way to figure out if anything can be done with this "self-fullfilling prophecy".
I tend to disagree, the 60EMA in the overlay setting is an after-the-fact self-fullfilling prophecy, and cannot trigger any trading signals.
That's because of the "overlay" and "separate" issue, you know biggins was talking about the overlay chart. The chart "works" in log scale:
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=CAU,uu[m,a]daclyyay[dc][pd20,2!h.02,.20][vc60][iLp14,3,3....
but not in linear scale:
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=CAU,uu[m,a]dacayyay[dc][pd20,2!h.02,.20][vc60][iLp14,3,3....
which contradict some of the examples that were shown earlier. Still waiting for biggins to tell me how does he find the 60EMA stocks... if that's even possible...
I know there is no basis on 60EMA, but I feel like to find the relationship... if there is one.
I flipped CAU today unrelated to this board and like the potential on that goldie but on this chart pps no come near EMA60 http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.web?c=cau,uu[m,a]dacaniay[da][pd20,2!h.02,.20][vc60][iut!Lp14,...
why don't we band together several hundred traders and use the 60ema volume line as a signal to buy in unison then we use something like the 50dma pps to sell and now your getting some where....lol hogs
That also means if we can reverse engineer how Stockcharts.com plot the charts, we can find the formula to the 60EMA line, and be able to connect the line with price levels... then a trading system/signal/EMA could be formed JMHO.
Good question. I dont know how many stocks fit that criteria since there is no scan for this set up. Its just that STOCKCHARTS.COM choses not to show the whole price range from zero to 1000, it cuts out the price range in which the stock is actually trading in whatever timeframe you select .... that can be .001 to .20 or 15.00 to 75.00 or ... - since it cuts out the prices below the Low of the stock down to 0.0000, it implies that stockcharts shows the lows of the trading as lower border in its display. And if volume is overlayed into the chart and not separate, then the moving average for volume will always be there at the lows of the trading range. If the stock goes lower, stockcharts adjust the display range, and the 60EMA will be lower too. So whatever the lows will be, the 60EMA will be there. So its not suitable to make trading decisions.
Hi DC, I'm more interested in how to compute the so called "support" under normal circumstances. However, I don't know how many stocks can really fit in that 60EMA volume line... could it be 5000 stocks? Or just a few? Maybe some kind of real technical reasons (at least mathematically speaking) are behind this wrong support line. If we can figure it out, it could be helpful in developing some quantitative trading strategies.
Yeah it sounds funny, but infact most ppl dont know that. And to be honest, it took me quite a while to find that out. LOL
mr. biggins, you can find 5,000 charts where the pps hit the volume 60ema at some point. It is just the bottom of that charts range in the time frame as you arranged it(timewise). Looks good on paper but you will loose your arse if you think that means anything, like support..... glta hogs
DCschmoeka, lol right your are.Hindsight is 20/20 so the volume 60ema that stockcharts has on many formations looks like miraculous indicator when it is just the bottom of that chat. & lo and behold later on the chart changes and that 60ema volume line is no longer in play....lmao hogs
Hi biggins, how do you find these 60EMA volume bouncers, by the scan from Stockcharts.com? TIA!
Yes, if it works, why not? I'm opened to all weird concepts. The reason why this works could be series of mathematical combinations...
The funny thing is that, from what presented here so far, it doesn't matter the chart is linear or log, 3 months or 6 months, small size or big size charts, that line will provide some kind of support.

AMAT 60 EMA bounce watch.
No disturbance. You bring up a good point, but I liken the 60 EMA bounce to the consistent finding of increased crimes and arsons on a full moon. This is a proven fact, but where is the connection. Honestly, the market is crazy.
Not that I wanna disturb the party, but the "60 EMA" is the Moving average for volume, not for the PPS. Since the Volume in stockcharts.com default settings is integrated at the bottom of the chart display (Volume > Overlay), it must naturally always be at the bottom. However, its only true after the fact. It does not represent support levels for the stock price.
If you click on "Volume > Separate", the 60 EMA will be gone.

I have several Pennies/Subpennies I am sitting in.Playing the 60EMA
MRMN

JCWW didn't quit make it to 60 EMA but got in @ .14
SSSU also din't quit make it, but it has a great patteren for running after Christmas last 2 years.
PLKC has a nice pattern going on. In my opinion There will be another chance to pick it up @ .014 in Dec before it runs.
These are JMHO
keep them coming !
Prime example of a daytrade 60 EMA play is HOFF. Tapped ithe 60 EMA and bounce like beautifully. A buy at the 60 EMA and a sell the in the next mornings gap would've been an ideal 60 EMA bounce play imo.
On a different note, HOFF looks ok here, with it's white candle, and an RSI looking to break up through the 30. MACD could look a little better, but the most recent bar is not a continuation of down, but a slight improvement from the prior ugly bar. An oversold play worth an eye.
Some time's they bounce off that 60 EMA a few times, and it acts like a great support line. ie CALM or DCEL or VRSO
One example of a beauty 60 EMA bounce. The 50 EMA stopped it dead.
These 60 EMA bounces are great swing plays, or even day trade bounces.
