Caledonia Mining (LON:CMCL) was the sector's biggest riser in afternoon trading after it unveiled record gold production from the Blanket mine in Zimbabwe of 12,919 oz in the third quarter to the end of September.
This was 33% up on a year ago and a 12% increase on output in the previous three months.
Total gold production for the first nine months of the year was 33,643 oz - a 33% increase on last time.
President and chief executive Stefan Hayden said: "Production achieved during the quarter is the highest quarterly gold production ever achieved by the Blanket mine since its first recorded year of production in 1906.
"The management and staff at Blanket are to be congratulated on this noteworthy achievement."
How is it possible that this precious metal producer has a market cap of $44.7m and yet has revenues exceeding $65m, profits over $28.5m; only $139.7k worth of debt; all positive statistics and a share count that's workable.
