our inability to develop alternate energy sources will push us to the tar sands. Certainly not developing it would have less impact in canada. But then we always seem to just export such impacts to someone else with even lower environmental standards to get our fix of oil.
One of the things that would probably be on the plus side would be the need to use less Mideast oil and that whole clusterfuck of problems.
