Yeah... but releasing that enormous carbon sink into the atmosphere doesn't just affect Canada. Keep in mind that getting that stuff out of the ground involves heat which requires a lot of natural gas.. Now gas may burn a bit cleaner than oil, but it's hardly benign.

That operation is a planet killer.

On the flip side a little global warming may make Canada's north a little more inhabitable. It's an ill wind... etc.
