Plusepa looks like one of the only possible DS to compete capsule for capsule with Vascepa, in terms of EPA volume.

Not sure I agree with that....PlusEpa ($37/60 caps on Amazon, $1.23/1 gr EPA):

Ingredients/cap
Total Omega-3 Fatty Acids 527 mg
EPA 500 mg
DHA <3 mg
Other Omaga-3s 27 mg
Omega-6 Fatty Acids 10mg

Genuine Health O3mega+ Joy ($31/120 caps from Drugstore.com, $1.03/1 gr EPA)

Serving Size: 2 softgels
Servings Per Container: 60
Fish Oil Concentrate 2000 mg*
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) 1000 mg*
DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) 50 mg*

So while PlusEPA may be a somewhat "purer" supplement, way less fatty acids the O3mega+Joy/cap, the bioavailabilty of the EPA in PlusEPA is unknown - O3mega+Joy caps are "enteric coated softgels allow for 3X better absorption with no fishy taste, repeat or odor" (3x better than what?) - nothing on Minami's PlusEPA site that claims to protect their gel caps from dissolving in the stomach. I took O3mega+Joy for 6-8 months prior to switching to Vascepa, can confirm no fishy taste or GI problems, and my T's went from 395 to 177 with zero dietary changes (LDL *did* go up 25% though, 153 to 202).

So one is primarily EPA with unknown protection from stomach acids, while the other is more like an OTC version of Lovaza (raises LDL). Ok, I'm throwing my hands up, dunno which one I'd take if I couldn't get Vascepa!
