Climate change: 2011 temperatures hottest ever during La Nina
Climate change studies show rising global temperatures – the 10th highest ever – and shrinking ice caps. This year saw the lowest volume of Arctic sea ice ever recorded, due to global warming, say scientists.

THIS year is on track to be the 10th warmest on record and the hottest in which a La Nina event has suppressed global temperatures, the World Meteorological Organisation says.
A preliminary snapshot of 2011 temperatures released at the Durban climate change conference says it continues a global warming trend during which the 13 hottest years have occurred in the past 15 years.
