Fatcat,

With all due respect, although I would like to see a PC by Notre Dame, at this juncture I just don't see it happening. I am sure we could all agree that the achievements that we have recently made are of a greater magnitude (in what they will eventually mean to KBLB) than the achievements that were revealed in the Notre Dame PC last year i.e.

September 2010: Monstersilk producing silkworms that are capable of producing silk 80% of the strength of spider silk

November 2011: 7 variations of silkworm and the glorious platform worm that could have innumerable future uses

However as far as achievements by NOTRE DAME, last year's achievements are far greater i.e.

September 2010: The achievement of genetic modifications using their proprietary piggybac transposon, developed by the university itself.

November 2011: The achievement of producing 7 variations of silkworm and the platform worm by using proprietary tools that were wholly developed by a separate party (SIAL).

The latter achievement is mainly attributed to the zincfingers themselves. Kudos on this occasion goes to Sigma Aldrich (or more accurately, Sangamo Biosciences who invented and developed them). As far as the university are concerned, they have provided the personnel that will have probably followed the specific instructions supplied by Sigma Aldrich.

The University are not in the business of shouting from the rooftops "look what we did with somebody else's technology" but are in the business of shouting from the rooftops "look at what we achieved through technology that we researched and developed of our own accord".

Obviously just my opinion...........

Also, obviously the majority of the above is my own assumptions. Apologies to the good Dr Fraser and his team if I appear to be trivialising their fantastic recent achievements!!
