Follow-up from Dr.Bob...you're gonna' love this...

Since I'm seeing this thread bleed over onto this board...and for the benefit of those of you that don't know WTH we're talking about, I'll give a little background on a topic started by Specvestor on my SS board.
Specvestor was successful in digging-up the current status of Dr.Wongs TQD patent, currently still on the table at the patent office. After having gone much of the way thru the patent applications gauntlet, Wongs patent has hit some snags with the patent examiner. It isn't all over yet & it appears to me that examiners pre-lim findings are still open to appeal, pending further rebuttal by Dr.Wong.

In seeing this develop, thx to Specvestors diligent efforts, I sent-off an inquiry to Steve Squires & Dr.Bob. Dr.Bob gave me a short reply earlier in the day (& another one later...see both below):

Hi David-
I don't know about the other patent...it's up to Rice and Dr. Wong to work with the patent office-- that often happens

Here is our exclusive roll to roll patent, which allows us to use any type of quantum dot.

Sorry I have to run. I'll be around Thursday.

*Note; In looking closely at the wording & quotation marks in Dr.Bob's 2nd reply (below), I'm pretty sure he has consulted with Steve about this, since Bob's 1st reply, earlier today. He is quoting Steve in much of this response.

David-
Additionally we have a number of "trade secrets" which you don't patent. Very common in this business.

The rejection and working with the patent office is very common, especially when we have 31 claims. I personally have more than a dozen and had to go through this process every time.

Also because we are going into mass production, Steve reminds us that "we are developing the process for mass production, a qdot solar cell technology and are making many other discoveries that will undoubtedly result in a myriad of additional I.P. This is in addition of course to the license we have for the U of A patent that will likely preclude any other quantum dot technologies from using printing as their production process which is a severly limiting factor. How do they think LG is planning to manufacture qdot displays? "

Have a great holiday.

There you have it...starts out a little sour but ends-up being more than we could have asked for. An early X-Mas present for QTMM investors IMO !

Now...back to my own side of town...
I only post significant revelations
as related to material/core QTMM
issues on this board.
A rarity.
