Did anyone here notice that in the movie Wall Street, qdots were slammed by the superstar kid in lieu of his allegiance to fusion technology? Thought that was interesting.

Re-visiting DDhawk's Post 5010 "Exactly 1 Year Later"..

Specvestor was successful in digging-up the current status of Dr. Wongs TQD patent. currently still on the table at the patent office. After having gone much of the way thru the patent the patent application gauntlet, Wongs patent has hit some snags with the patent examiner. It isn't over yet & appears to me that the the examiners pre-lim findings are still open to appeal. Pending fruther rebuttal by Dr. Wong.

In seeing this development, I sent-off an inquiry to Steve Squires & Dr. Bob. Dr. Bob gave me a short reply earlier in the day (& another one later...see both below):

Hi David-

I Don't know about the other patent...It's up to Rice and Dr. Wong to work with the patent office--that often happens.

Here is our exclusive roll to poll patent, which allows us to use any type of quantum dot.

*Note: in looking closely at the wording & quotation marks in Dr. Bob's 2nd reply (below), im pretty sure he has consulted with Steve about this, since Bob's 1st reply, earlier today. He is quoting Steve in much of his response.

David-

Additionally we have a number of "trade secrets" which you don't patent. Very common in this business.

The rejection and wotking with the patent office is very common, especially when we have 31 claims. I personally have more than a dozen and had to go through this process every time.

Also because We are going into mass production, Steve reminds us that "we are developing the process for mass production, a qdot solar cell technology and we are making many other discoveries that will undoubtedly result in a myriad of additional I.P. this in addition of course to the license we have for the U of A patent that will likely preclude any other quantum dot technologies from using printing as their production process which is severely limiting factor. How do they think LG is planning to manufacture qdot displays?"

Have a great holiday,

bob

That was "where things we're at exactly 1 year ago" makes me wonder where things are at currently and going into 2012..

Thanks DDhawk and all for the excellent work as we patiently wait for QMC's next move..
