Shorting an equity is actually counter intuitive. When novices to the market begin to trade, which direction do you think they default to? Rhetorical. It would be to "buy" (go long). That is not to say that all longs are novices or naive but to go short an equity, etf, etc should not be construed as anything but another person, group or whatever taking a position. I've shorted often.

To imply they are desperate is comical and irrelevant and usually is looked at as desperation on the long side by dispassionate folks. Too, if some conclude that LPC is behind the trades, even to the point of collusion, do you think they know less than retail? What you guys know is what needs to transpire to get this thing North; fundamentals. The day-to-day machinations and trading should be irrelevant.
