There is a lot of new battery tech in the pipeline to address this cycle-life issue including the use of titanium dioxide, silicone, and lithium solid state anodes. I suspect that some of this new tech is going into the new roadster to give it more power and range as well. The physics is there for EVs to surpass ICEs in all areas of performance and there is no need to haul around pressurized hydrogen.
