DesertDrifter -- yeah, have been watching that -- concomitant with the pattern (persistent northerly flow aloft here), we're easing through the peak of the hot time quite comfortably cooler than usual
we still have far fewer birds here than we did before 2011's killing heat (and drought) ( https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/dallas-breaks-record-for-most/55022 ) -- would have thought they'd have to at least some decent extent recovered by now -- but no, even after several years of ample precip and not especially hot summers, they just haven't -- still, on most days, don't hear any outside at all -- where it used to be a chorus of various different calls all day, every day
