That's pretty much what I did in 2001.

After my re-fi, I paid my house off in 5 years.

I have no debt whatsoever for the last 10 years and whenever I wanna buy a car, I just get a loan through car co.(to get better deal on the car), and then pay it off in three eaqual installments(this helps my credit score as well).

Never put more than $9999 cash down or you gotta report it to the govt.
