Of course you're right in that stocks move so long as buyers and sellers are interested. But I'll stand firm on the SEC mandate. I don't live in an all-or-nothing world, either, so of course---stocks can add to pre-distribution levels...up or down. But any stock paying a distribution must---by law---open lower by that amount. From there, it's off to the races as the market will bear.
