DavidAs: 2 things to consider about Naples...

One: it isn't out yet.

Two: the incumbent in a slow moving market like servers has a huge advantage.

I was there in the 90s as Intel took on RISC in servers and it took years and a multi-prong push in software and hardware(think GB ethernet) and figuring out who to talk to get server sales. AMD would need a big push by someone like HP or Dell. Now HP is perfectly happy to use AMD in consumer land but servers are a question mark. And consider this: the 32 core chip with massive PCI E lanes are achieved by linking 4 chips in an MCM. Essentially 4 Ryzens. Intel has done those before and could easily do it again. And I don't know if its true or not but some rumour sites are saying there is a 32 core chip coming from Intel. AMD doesn't have a great reputation as a quality supplier. And the chip cost is a bit muted because you have massive costs for SSDs, memory and server software and hardware. So 5% will be quite a bit harder than just AMD snapping its fingers. I am also not all that sure that 32 or 28 core chips are that big a seller. I never worked much with the server side but I would bet the volume is in a lower core count dual socket type system. And I would also bet that a ton of business with Google and Amazon which are custom jobs are kind of out of reach.
