In addition to other problems down there, I think the US oligarchy/Deep State has had South America on its destabilization hit list for some time, and are at least partly responsible for their current mess.
Being one of the BRICS, Brazil in particular was targeted for turmoil, the rationale being that if Brazil prospered as a BRICS member, it wouldn't be long before all of South America rushed to joined the BRICS. So the Deep State saw to it that Brazil didn't prosper, with the goal of weakening/wrecking the BRICS.
The BRICS is one entity that could bring down the NWO since it offers an alternative. In contrast to the West, the BRICS has had robust economic growth, and most countries of the world would gravitate toward BRICS and China as the US/West sinks ever further into its black hole of debt and derivatives. That's one way to look at Brexit, with the UK transitioning to an economic alliance with China.
As we've seen, the US/West has basically become a looting operation and has had to resort to naked military power and destabilization to maintain its grip on the world.
