I was based as a pilot at LAX when that happened. They didn't evacuate using the slides, but used airstairs at the front of the airplane. Once stopped -the flames were pretty put out immediately and they started deplaning within minutes. The fireman was using the ladder to get to the inside of the airplane as the passengers were still coming off out of the front exit. Made for a good show though.
