I have to disagree on a fundamental issue: Distributions go up, or down. The problem arises when complacency sets in, negating value via eroding valuation that eats appreciation.

I liken the truly successful investor/trader to a tiger that consumes a huge amount of kill in one eat-in. He then moves on. The best investment is one that feeds you till fattened and then you get out. Hanging on for an allowance is OK for kids but we're older.

Growing, stable distributions always drive valuations higher. As the valuation slows, it becomes time to address the chopping block or lose it all to an allowance.
