It is a good read. It's not so much the cheap wifi that peaked my interest with IPTK but the possibility of in flight text messaging. What's the first thing most people do when the plane lands? Start texting. The cost of the system is very low. Airlines could use it (as business jets do) to keep in contact with their ground crews. In almost every case all that's required is an ipod and a cable. That qualifies under FAA rules as a "portable electronic device" and they are already approved. And no extensive time consuming FAA certification because bluetooth is FAA approved. To text or email you'd use the IPTK app with your phone in aircraft mode. Actual communication is through satellites which the airlines are already hooked up to.
