Red, I have lots of opinions on immigration. One of them is that, except for limited situations, England didn't make our ancestors leave there, for America.

Most of the people that take part in large scale migrations are the ambitious, the adventurous. People seeking a better life. A result is a drain of productive people, while the less ambitious stay home.

America, Canada and Australia are examples.

Between about 1880 & 1910 800,000 Norwegians left Norway for North America. At the time Norway's population was less than 4 million. Those immigrants became a driving force where they settled. They left behind the less ambitious & the wealthy.

A well educated Norwegian, that had lived in NY for nearly 40 years, before returning to Norway, told me he thought Norway was negatively affected because of the genetic drain. He said it weakened the gene pool.

Back to England. IMO, Great Britain was a major contributor to America's greatness. It gave us their people and their law.

About what white Americas owe to the decedents of slaves. IMO, we owe them the same every American is owed. Equal Justice and equal opportunity.
